Have not been here in person but ordered their food to go. The shrimp spring rolls were huge and came with a peanut dipping sauce. The pho came completely deconstructed. A cup of hot broth with all the fixings so I could put it together myself. I ordered the steak and meatball pho and asked for it to be spicy so they gave me three diff spicy sauces/ pastes on the side and I put all of them in, I like it hot. Once I added the sprouts, basil, cilantro, lime, red onions, jalapeños, noodles and meat, everything was sooo dang good!! Big flavors and big portions, got two meals out of this. Take into account the amount of low star reviews complaining about their experience ordering fried rice and mango smoothies. This is not a Sino-American Chinese restaurant, and it is not an order at the counter Boba bar. It is a Vietnamese restaurant. That is clearly something unfamiliar in this area. I was first exposed to Vietnamese food around 2000 in OKC which has a very large Vietnamese population (put a Yelp search in for "phó" in OKC and see how many restaurants you find). It is cuisine with a rich history, focused predominantly around very thin rice noodles called "vermicelli", and unique Vietnamese cuts of beef (pork, chicken, and seafood are present as well). There are easily 50 or more phó joints in OKC, and my method for judgment has been refined to assessing the fresh spring rolls (sometimes called summer rolls) and the phó dac biet and/or combination vermicelli bowl. Fresh spring rolls are generally pork, shrimp, or both, with vermicelli noodles and vegetables rolled in rice paper. Served with a peanut sauce. Phó is sort of the signature item in Vietnamese joints. It is a suite of variations of vermicelli noodles in broth. Phó dac biet, is roughly translated as "house special", and is usually a combination of meats, generally including tripe and tendon. Spring rolls at Phó Thanh were tasty. On par with what I'd expect from legit Vietnamese places. Peanut sauce was good. Phó dac biet had all of the elements I expected. Including meat balls. Yum! Is it the best pho I've ever had? No. But I've had soooo much pho. It was very good. Broth is a bit generic, but that is true at lots of pho joints, where they take the approach of allowing the consumer to flavor it to their individual taste by adding varying degrees of hoisin (savory/sweet) and Sriracha (spicy/tart) sauce. Given that it's your only option in LR, I recommend that adventurous diners unfamiliar with Vietnamese food, looking to expand their palate, give it a try. If you aren't ready to chomp into some tripe and tendon like a man, you can get yourself some chicken pho and have largely the same experience. The entree is the grilled pork and pork pancake with broken rice. This is typical Vietnamese rice dish. The grilled pork is perfect. The best dish is the bah bun hue. They provide a plate of cilantro Thai basil and other flavor enhancers so you can make your bowl just how you like it! For your first time, I recommend adding a bit of everything unless you already know it is not to your liking. Expand your palate, don't be thrown off because the food presentation is unique, search online before you order something so you can get a general idea of what you may like.
