Fresh Summer roll ( Thit Nuong Cuon)
    Christi S.

Service was very friendly and welcoming. Got the bun bo hue (but forgot to take a pic lol) and it was really good and savory! Also got summer rolls and they were really fresh. Food came out fast after ordering, and there was a tablet you can place an order with. The egg rolls were pretty average, I liked the summer rolls way more. My husband got the pho and said it was good. Portion size is average for the price though. I've yet to try the pho, but will have to try it the next time I come back. Really love the service and that'll probably bring me back the next time.

My new fav pho place in north San Diego and dare I say.. maybe in ALL of San Diego?? So glad I found this place. The pho broth is clear, flavorful and delicious! They stick to the basics here which I love. Pho broth with different meats you can choose from- rare steak, tendon, flank, brisket, meatball. They also have chicken pho and vegetarian options. Their egg rolls are also delicious and a favorite of mine.. a must when I order here. Can't wait to come back to try some of their other menu items like BBH, rice plates The service here is incredible! The owner/manager is the sweetest, cutest lady alive and super friendly. They were very attentive, always checking on us and refilling our water. Ambiance feels like a really homey Vietnamese shop. This is the place to take my picky Viet parents which is saying a lot xD Located in same plaza as North Park Produce, right next to Starbread, plenty of parking!

We are always interested in trying a Vietnamese restataurant for the first time, and we stopped here for lunch while shopping in Poway. It was a good choice. For lunch we had ... Pho Combo 2, choosing Rare Steak and Brisket (4/5) -- Very good amount of meat. Broth flavors were good but could be more assertive. ($17.50) Hue Spicy Beef Noodle (4/5) -- Bún Bò Huế is one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes, and this version is very good: beef tendon, beef shank and pork hock with sausage, Vietnamese ham, and congealed pork blood. The broth was flavorful but not as spicy as I'd expect. ($20.00) Service was welcoming and good.. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Being on a corner, the restaurant has great natural light.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Decor is simple, reminiscent of restaurants in Vietnam.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking in the shared lot was easy. Pho Tan is on our list to visit again.

Best Vermicelli in San Diego! The meat was tender and packed with flavor, and everything tasted fresh. Also tried their new Thai Green Milk Tea --creamy, fragrant, and delicious! Definitely worth trying and pairs perfectly with the food. Highly recommend Pho Tan!

This place is open late, until 10pm. We came here craving some pho on a weekday. The inside is a little small, but there were plenty of tables. You order your food on a tablet, and food came out really quick. The pho was tasty, and the egg rolls came out piping hot. Would come back!

Excellent pho in poway!! Service was prompt and attentive. Pho was hot and delicious! The broth was flavorful and the meat tasted of high quality! Excellent ratio of meat to noodle! Definitely a stand out for pho and a must visit if you are looking for excellent Vietnamese cuisine!

Hue Spicy Beef Noodle ( Bun Bo Hue )
    Sarah K.

we got the bun bo hue, broken rice with pork chop, and vietnamese coffee. the bun bo hue was really good! tasted authentic spice wise but would say it was definitely a lighter tasting broth. their chili oil was really nice and i liked how they had a lot of variety in condiments. i like how they gave a variety of veggies, both green and purple cabbage, the banana root, and bean sprouts! they also gave a bunch of herbs! i would say the tendon in the bbh did taste a little funky but the texture was good. the broken rice with pork was so good! the pork chop was a little crispy and caramelized on the edges and had some char but was still juicy. the vietnamese coffee was good, but a bit small for the portion u get

Egg noodle pho, crispy tofu, Shrimp Spring Roll (Goi cuon tom) 2 rolls
    Nick R.

This is the best pho in the area! The crispy tofu is the actual best! They are mom and pop restaurant and the service is very good. I've eaten a lot of pho in the Poway, Mira Mesa and Rb areas and this one takes The cake. The shrimp pho with egg noodle is the best flavor of broth me and my lady have had! It needs no extra sauce it's just that good. We will def be regulars. It's soo dang good here and we love it!

Brisket and rare steak pho, 2 protein rice plate, chicken noodle pho, and egg rolls
    Deanne L.

Loved the service and the food. Our 2 servers were super friendly during our recent dinner. Always smiling and very quick. Broth in pho taste good and bowl is a big serving. Eggrolls were smaller in size than what I'm used to but that's not necessarily a bad thing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Pretty big shop with a good amount of tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Spicy noodle soup special, Bun Bo Hue! (BBH) (& a lemonade)
    Christa C.

Pho Tan Poway wonderfully combines modern and traditional elements of Vietnamese dining! My favorite Vietnamese dish is Bún Bò Huế (BBH) and had a good feeling once I saw "Spicy Beef Noodle" under Pho Tan's 'Specials' section of their menu. Pho Tan's version of this dish is flavorful and fragrant! Lots of lemongrass, fresh veggies, and tender proteins; I thoroughly enjoyed every part of my meal. My soup arrived to my table well before my beverage did, but once it did my lemonade was bright and refreshing. While I currently live near Little Saigon, I was extremely impressed to discover this Vietnamese eatery in the Poway suburbs. The dining room is clean and comfortable, with friendly and attentive customer service. Consider Pho Tan the next time you're looking for Vietnamese food around North County!

Pho Tai ( Rare Steak Pho )
    Annie D.

Was hoping to find an alternative to our usual Pho Cow Cali in Mira Mesa but Pho Tan did not live up to the reviews. I like ordering from a tablet but service could be more attentive especially when the water cups are so small. We ordered the lemon grass beef noodle soup and the Pho Tai. The broth in both soups just really lacked flavor. Spring rolls were standard.

But this visit I accidentally stumbled onto something that deserves its own review. I ordered a Soda Chanh Muối and a Cucumber Cooler. Halfway through the meal I decided to pour them both into one larger cup just to see what would happen. Y'all... I may have accidentally created my favorite drink on the menu. The salty citrus from the Soda Chanh Muối mixed with the cool minty cucumber flavor from the Cooler was ridiculously refreshing. It tasted like a perfectly balanced salty lemonade with a crisp cucumber finish. I honestly sat there wondering why this wasn't already on the menu. I don't know if they've changed owners or what but it's nothing like I remember. Arrived about 5pm on a Thursday and there were a couple tables full, but thought there'd of been more. As the evening went on it certainly filled up so maybe we're an early dinner. Service was good, not great. No we're not ready to order 10 seconds after we sit down, and yes we're ready to order after 10-15 minutes. Helpful when you ask (like asking for the check 3 times), but not real engaging. Odd they have the robots to deliver food, but a server has to follow and put the food on your table (not a big deal, but kind of a waste of time/effort). Let me start by saying I eat Vietnamese food, but am no expert so take my comments with that in mind! We ordered the 'Classic Spring Rolls' and while it was listed, I was surprised by the pork and not sure I'd get those again. One thing that was a bit off putting for me was that the cup with peanut sauce has vermicelli and other things in the the bottom; I'm assuming to fill the cup, so they put in less peanut sauce. What hit was they just take the cups back from the last table, add some sauce, and whatever fell out stayed in the cup. I'm sure that's not it, but that's all I could think of. My wife ordered the VN1 (Hue Spicy Noodle Soup - Bun Bo Hue) and she commented it was anything but spicy and the meats had a texture that wasn't real appealing. I ordered the FR4 (Pan-Fried Rice Noodle Hu Tieu Ap Chao) with beef. The vegetables were cooked perfectly but the meat was a bit spongy, though flavorful. I mostly ate the fried noodles with the egg on top, the vegetables, but left most of the meat. Oh, and finally, it wasn't the most pleasant experience listening to a gentleman and his young child FaceTime with grandma on speaker phone a couple booths over for the majority of our meal. All in all for $60 (w/tip) it just wasn't our cup of tea and so sad from what I remember from several (many?) years ago.

Parking is relatively easy if you're going during the weekday, but it does get crowded during the weekend. This place is frequented by many families and fellow Vietnamese, so you know it's good/authentic! I will say, service is just ok. You order at the counter and take a number with you to your table of choice (when they're not busy), and they'll bring your food out to you. Water is included with your meal! I will definitely be back!
