Beef pho
Shawn N.

We came here extra late around 830 on our long road trip home. It was surprisingly decent. The pho had authentic southern viet flavors. The service was quick and the prices were very reasonable for San Francisco. The ambiance itself was okay, more empty tables, but we were just happy that they were open. The staff didn't speak Vietnamese, which was surprising. However, their flavors were there and that's all that matters to me. Overall 5/5 Thank you for serving us so late and so close to closing time.

Can't believe I hadn't updated by review from 4 years ago. In that time I've eaten there or ordered take-out dozens and dozens of times. On an chilly Christmas Eve day, I took an extra long lunch and had a hot bowl of Bun Bo Hue. It was spicy and tangy (squeezed 3 lime wedges) and full of noodles and meat. It was fantastic. I wondered why I had not ordered more often. I will not forget about in the future. A great place in my area and one of my Go-To spots for Vietnamese. A special tip of the cap to Karen who has been there for many years and is always courteous and helpful. One pic this time.

Pho Saigon is a casual eatery located in South San Francisco's Westborough Plaza with a spacious interior serving up Vietnamese cuisine like pho and a variety of other traditional dishes. Many years have passed since I last dined at Pho Saigon, but since Z and I were already at the shopping centre last night (February 1, 2026), I suggested to DJ that we order dinner take-out from here. His immediate response was, "I thought that you didn't like that place?" True, I was not a fan of their phở, but I was willing to try them again for the sake of convenience; at 7:30 PM on a Sunday night, our options were quickly dwindling as the other restaurants I was looking at were closing at 8 PM. Pho Saigon closes at 9 PM on Sundays. The brightly lit dining room was busy, but, luckily, not so packed that I easily found an available table to sit at and peruse the menu. The venue also appeared to be clean and orderly. Pho Saigon's picture-filled menu is extensive, featuring a range of options from BEEF RICE NOODLE SOUP phở to refreshing spring rolls to classic RICE PLATES, each dish showcasing the diversity of authentic Vietnamese flavours at competitive prices. Below are what we order for take-out: CHA GIO ($9.00) - These egg rolls were fried to a perfect golden crisp. I was delighted that they remained crispy from restaurant to home. GOI CUON DAU HU ($8.50) - Good, but these fresh spring rolls didn't maintain their form once bitten, making it challenging to eat without falling apart. MI XAO TOI VOI BO LUC LAC ($21.50) - The garlic noodles were slightly al dente. The filet mignon had an unusual, sweet flavour that I could have done without, but, fortunately, it didn't ruin the dish. BUN THIT NUONG CHA GIO ($18.50) - DJ initially wanted the vegetarian version of this dish, the BUN DAU HU ($18.00) with an added fried egg roll, but since the addition would have cost an additional $3.00, rendering the price to be higher than the one with BBQ pork & egg roll, I ordered this plate for him instead. Some shrimp was found in his food which, to some would be a freebie, but to others with dietary restrictions could be problematic. DJ rated this as OK. CA PHE SU'A DA ($6.00) - Not bad, but less sweet than the flavour we expected. Service was friendly and quick. A better experience I had this time. I might be willing to return and try their BUN RIEU or BUN BO NUONG CHA GIO and smoothies.

This definitely is not my favorite pho place, but if you're close and not wanting to go far it could work. We ordered wonton soup with extra egg noodles, chicken wings, and seafood pho TDLR: wings were crunchy but flavorless. Seafood pho had 3 pieces of shrimp and a few balls, totally not worth the 17$. The wonton soup was good and the wontons were tasty, flavorful and freshly made. Good choice. Service/ wait staff is fast however the waitress really skimped on the napkins - they aren't on the table so we had to keep finding more. This place is never that busy so if you want to sit it's nice. But if you're looking for good pho, go to Kevin's!

Last Wednesday July 30,2025. As We Get Off Work From SFO it Was Hazy & Cloudy With A Few Drizzles And We Decided To Eat At Pho Saigon. As We Walk In And Choose A Seat And Given Us A Menu And Decided To Order. Food Arrived Like Around 20 Minutes After I Was Overwhelmed As Portions Are Large. The Staff Are Friendly And Fast On The Service. The Ambiance Of The Store Was Great As Per The Location.

Came by and tried their #1 Combo Pho! Yummy!!! Great broth, good portions! Another winner!

I pointed out there was barely any chicken in the chicken fried rice ($17) and she asked if I wanted more and I said yes.
Abbie C.

Chicken fried rice $17, the chicken was not even 1/4 equivalent to the total amount of rice and super oily. I pointed out the lack of chicken and was asked if I wanted more (thus the third plate). $18 pork chop combo, 2 wings, 1 egg roll, 1 cucumber -very average flavor. Super thin and small pork chops with lots of bone. Service was average. Lots of seating inside. The staff left the door wide open to let the mopped wet floors dry. The floors dried and they still left the door open when it was 51F outside...

Came here from the city simply because everything Viet in the city seemed to be closed on a Tuesday. Anyways staff are very friendly and accommodating here however the flavor of the soups were a bit bland. But it wasn't terrible, we would came back as a last resort type of ordeal. Place is very clean and lots of parking spaces in the parking lot.

Greetings to All, this review is of the dishes we had today, Beef ball and Tendon Pho soup- Beef and veggie Crape - 2 Chicken Banh mi Sandwiches . Parking: A joint lot shared by all business in the area. Inside of the restaurant: plenty of room for a large dinner crowd with moderate lighting. Service: was ok with the exception of an unknown Asian older man that looked like a maintenance worker who had a large keychain on his side, was the person who gave us our first dish which was the Pho soup, just one thing; while serving the soup with blue rubber gloves on , his Thumb was in our soup Bowl. The Tendons were not fully cooked. Next came the Bahn mi sandwiches: Dry with Old tasting Chicken in them, with a Lack of Flavor and sauce. Next after a while, came the Crape ( Beef&veggie) Not fully cooked and broke apart upon touching it. Because l am a fair person, I will give them 1 more chance in the Future; but not now.

Pho Saigon is one of my go-to spots. It has a cozy, friendly atmosphere, and I come here often for their vegetarian soup, which never disappoints. Tonight I tried something different--the eggplant and tofu over steamed rice dish--and it was beyond five stars. Absolutely delicious!

This is only 1/3 or 1/2 of the beef stew noodle soup! Takeout - I brought it back and even added my own cherry tomatows. Heh

Wow, gigantic portions were worth it! We returned yet again for a reliable, quick meal, and sure enough, it was good. It was ready in ten minutes! It is a staple, and many people count on them daily. It was packed on a weekday! Rice plates, pho, you name it, and it was good. Don't believe me? Then see the pictures for yourself (Figures 1-3). We got two thick slabs of pork chop. The veggies completed the meal with good fish sauce.

We were craving pho and swung by Pho Saigon. My usual order is pho with beef balls. The broth is perfectly salty and flavorful. I ordered a medium and was shocked by how filling it was. We also got the tofu spring rolls and they were delicious. The flavoring of the tofu is addicting and it's for sure a favorite! Pho Saigon is one of our go tos!

My favorite is the pho with 5 spice chicken (#18 on the menu). Unlike most other pho places that give you boiled chicken in the soup.

I wish they put the components of the dish in the menu online so you could opt out, because both my zhajiangmian and potato salad came with bean sprouts (which I hate!!). I just picked through all of them and ate the remaining dish afterwards- the potato salad was yummy and the zhajiangmian was savory and came with lots of minced pork! My boyfriend enjoyed his Lanzhou beef noodles a lot, the beef was tender and the broth was incredibly flavorful and delicious. He liked the pork burger a lot as well, they did not skimp on the meat and the bun was fluffy! I would highly recommend this dish to anyone, it's a classic that is done well! I think if the meat was cut into smaller pieces and grill a little longer would be more enjoyable. The chef has room to improve... this place did not meet my expectation.

I don't eat porridge often, usually when really under the weather so I'm fortunate to not gone to get some in a while. I called my pickup order since I didn't see an online option. The store front is Ichi Ramen so it's confusing in case you get lost in the busy plaza. I ordered shrimp, fish and plain porridge (congee) along with beef chow fun. 4 dishes total. Total came out to under $60 and it was a heavy bag! The porridge has a nice thick consistency without being runny. It had flavor to not need seasoning and surprisingly large portions of seafood. The chow fun was decent but I've definitely tasted better. Kinda pricy at $18 though the beef slices were big. I appreciated it wasn't as oily as other chow fun I've had so easy to eat without feeling kinda gross after. Solid value, good food, and worth a rec for porridge. All in all, I'd definitely return. 4.5 stars.

For some proteins, it is advisable to get an extra bowl to remove the protein as it will overcook in the crazy hot congee. The sliced beef congee comes out perfect so they must either add it to the hot congee rare or even raw so it ends up cooking perfectly. The friend Chinese donut was crispy and airy, slightly oily so fryer oil may have needed to be hotter and fry cook need to slow down and let oil temp recover. Place does get busy quick and may need to wait for a table though.

They do have outdoor seating, not that it would help much when the lunch crowd is huge. Since the store name emphasizes on Hainan chicken, i havent quite explored their other menu items. First time I had the Hainan chicken rice plate, another time I had the noodle version. Funnily I find their rice plate version smaller portioned than the noodle soup, however it's not a true Hainan chicken experience without having oil rice. Both dishes serve Hainan chicken with scallion oil marinade and roasted peanuts. While noodles have oyster mushroom and spinach, rice plate has pickled veggies. Overall it gets the craving settled, its not the greatest though. The noodle soup was an interesting option. It feels a bit like when youre making noodle soup at home and just tossed in random toppings. I had corn, spinach, oyster mushroom. Definitely not a combo I see commonly. The soup was not bad, its drinkable, not salt at all. However its a bit odd to pair it with Hainan chicken, perhaps better with fishcake or meat balls, I did see a meatballs version. They do have other noodle style and broths to choose from, such as hot and sour, laksa. They do offer fish paste noodle if you want a teeny tiny bit more protein. Overall food is okay. It's nothing to rave about, even though I love Hainan chicken.
