It was my 1st time here. After we got seated and requested for the beef Pho, I asked how much to get a larger bowl instead, since my daughter just wanted a small portion. He then said just a few dollars more but then said the prices on the menu were not "updated" as all the prices in the entire menu have gone up and therefore the $10 Pho was now $15! Show current prices on the menu that applies to EVERYONE. Unless the price shown is for a certain category of people and discriminates against "others" like us who were going to be charged extra. I told him I refuse to patronize such an establishment that discriminates and that I was going to write an honest review to warn people of color. Pho Saigon. Broth is very rich and soothe the soul, soup base is not like the typical pho joint. Home cooked vibe. Sliced cabbage instead of bean sprouts is genius, stays crunchy the whole meal. In response to the other reviews, yes this is not like the typical commercial Viet joint. This hole in the wall is serving great food and it is run by 2 local mom and pop. I've driven past this place every time I stay at Hard Rock. I finally had the chance to check it out yesterday. All excited and all after reading the reviews. When we, a party of 4, got there at around 5:30, the place was empty. No patrons. Just 1 employee, the chef. Usually when you walk into a Vietnamese restaurant, you smell the pho and all the deliciousness. Nope. Not this place. They don't even have tea. When I asked the waiter, aka, the chef said no hot tea, sold out. At that point, I regretted staying but we were hungry and I trying to stay optimistic. When we placed our order, none of the house specials were available, the spring rolls were good but it came with no lettuce and mint. The pho Saigon was edible but nothing to write home about. They gave us cilantro instead of basil. The grilled chicken over rice was decent. If they fucked that up, I would give it zero stars. The Bun Bo Hue would be better if it had the pork knuckle. Dinner came out of $100 and it was not worth it. read more

So this is a hole in the wall pho restaurant near the Hard Rock Cafe run by an older husband and wife. There wasn't anyone there when I stopped by at 3pm. Menu: Welp. The specials which is half of the menu isn't available, so I wished they just blacked out that page? Actually black out ANYTHING that isn't an option. Food: The quality is great but they do try to skimp when they can. Pho - 4/5 Actually decently solid pho. The rice noodles were cooked well, the quality of the meat was decent (rare sliced beef, flank, fatty brisket, and beef balls). The soup was actually good. It could've been simmered longer, but you can taste the broth and the spices. For 9.00 it was pretty decent, considering Atlantic City is fairly expensive. The portion was slightly small, but it is filling. The problem I had was there was NO basil, cilantro, green onions, oyster sauce, sriracha or anything for the matter accompanying the bowl. Here's the thing... it's ON the menu that it comes with the sides but you really don't get ANY of it....That's not cool. Iced Coffee - 4/5 Actually it's very caffeinated, strong, could use a little bit more condensed milk so that it's not as bitter, but you can really taste the Robusta coffee bean, so that's a plus. The problem is that this is drip coffee which means it takes FOREVER to make before it's served. This was served when I was 75% done with eating the pho. Service: 2/5 This is where it's slightly cringe worthy and not pleasant. The waitress didn't even give me a menu. She just asked if I wanted rice or noodles. Also her hovering around when I was looking at the menu, and asking for the check was kind of creepy. I didn't realize this place didn't take card until later, so that's a eh I wished I knew that. When I asked her if they took cash or card she just kept on yelling it's 13.00..... I usually DON'T carry cash on me, and I had 0 idea that this was a cash only place. Thankfully I did have just enough to actually pay for the meal.... Seriously, they need to have a sign that says CASH ONLY. The older husband was cool though. Literally left me alone in peace. Decor: very clean, simple, mom and pop pho joint. I hate to give one star for restaurant because I know how difficult it is for them to survive nowadays. But below is my reason. I heard this is great place, so I decided to try it due to other place that I really liked closed :( We ordered egg rolls, but I was surprised it didn't come with anything but three plain egg rolls. Unlike other places, it always comes with lettuce wrap and basils. House special beef noodle soup was so so, pork vermicelli noodle is actually quite good. What disappoints me the most is when I got the bill, it was $7 more than I expected. On the menu it's $5 for egg rolls, $10 for both beef noodle soup and vermicelli noodle, should be total of $25, but the total was $32. I asked, the waiter said because of pandemic, and gov just announced something something, I didn't really understand what he was saying, but I didn't want to make it a big deal because I know restaurants are having a hard time these days. So basically they raised the noodle soup and vermicelli to $12 each without inform the costumers, and I don't know about the additional $3, maybe egg rolls was raised to $8 automatically? And there is a surcharge of $1.25, which I don't know what it is either. However, I still give a generous tip of 20%. Hopefully they will be more clear with the price in the future. read more

Came here on New Year's day. After a night of drinking this was much needed. The place is small with about 6 tables. I came with 3 other friends so 4 of us total. 2 friends got the spicy noodle soup and my other friend and I got pho. The bowls were a bit small and kinda hard to eat. Soup was good though. My friend said they used the incorrect meat for the spicy one. I think they used beef tendon instead. Overall it was ok but still satisfying. The owners were really friendly and nice. read more

We stopped by here a few months ago while spending my husband's birthday in Atlantic City, was craving some Vietnamese and wanted something in walking distance from Ocean's resort. When we went there, were surprised to find it empty as it had gotten a few positive reviews on Yelp. The aunties working there were very attentive and kind, even taking my 4 month old son and played with him while we ate. Prices were slightly cheaper than your average pho restaurant, portions were ginormous with a wait time of only 15-20 minutes after ordering. I thoroughly enjoyed my dish (I think it was Bun Cha) and my husband was satisfied with his beef pho. I would recommend if in the area and are wanting to escape the exorbitant prices of the resorts but don't want to compromise on quality and service. read more

I asked my wife to pick out three things she liked about Pho Saigon and she said, "It was good, I liked it." Its almost 1am now. I'm going to run with quality, value and quirk. We had delicious Pho and Bon Bo Hue for breakfast. The Pho was aromatic and the cinnamon and anise flavors were well balanced and slightly sweet. My bon bo hue was amazing. It was mildly spicy and very flavorful. Both soups had a lot more meat than I would consider normal which contributes to the value. The atmosphere is your pretty typical Pho place, sparse, not much thought given to decor and the old guy was a one man army which makes for an unusual meal tempo at times, but we just sipped our coffee and enjoyed ourselves. read more

I'll start by saying that the summer rolls were great, and the pho was tasty. I had the spicy beef pho (can't remember the actual name, it was #5 on the menu), and my husband had Pho Saigon. I've had better, more flavorful broth, but overall everything we had was good. There were only two people running the entire restaurant (a man and a woman), cooking and serving people. There were only two groups in the restaurant: us (my husband, myself, and my two brothers) and another group of 5 or so. The service was pretty slow, which we didn't care about because we were on vacation and weren't in a rush. The woman was taking care of the table next to us and was very friendly to them. The man was our server/cook, didn't speak very good English, but was relatively attentive. He tried to explain what Pho was to us (I guess because we're caucasian?), even though we often frequent Pho restaurants, and it's one of our favorite foods. we were not offended, though. We thought it was nice that he was taking the time to educate us In case we had never eaten Vietnamese food before. The only real negative was at the end of the meal when the woman came over and handed us the check. My husband and I were going to pay together, and my brothers were paying separate. We didn't want to hassle the woman by asking her to split the check for us, so we were trying to calculate who owed what and how much cash each of us owed. However, the woman wouldn't leave us alone to let us calculate. She stood, hovering over my husband and kept verbally repeating the amount we owed. I guess she thought we didn't know how to read a check? It was a super weird ending to what would have otherwise been a nice meal. We all felt kind of disrespected, like she thought we were going to dine and dash or something. Because of this I probably wouldn't go back. read more

The broth was delicious and flavorful. It came with flank, brisket, and beef balls so great value for the price! We ended up walking out prior to ordering bc the man taking our order said there would be an additional $3 charge on EACH item bc of Covid they are "allowed to charge anything" according to the government. This is a new spot in AC right down the street from the Hard Rock. I went there for some Pho and my favorite dish, banh xeo (Vietnamese crepe). I have to say the Banh Xeo was my favorite of the two. It was very crispy on the outside and had the usual filling (pork, shrimp, sprouts). In fact, I just made myself hungry just thinking about it. The Pho was good but not great. It still satisfied my craving but I would want a stronger flavor in the broth. The owner of the establishment was very nice and really put a lot of effort in ensuring a good customer experience. I must say the server forgot to give us the water we ordered but to be fair, she was running around tending to various customers. I would go back again, particularly for the banh xeo. read more

As the soup is great, we wanted some summer rolls and spring rolls along with our soup. We were told that he could not make any appetizers, mind you it was about noon at this point. As I looked at the 2 other tables, I noticed that they had spring rolls. I am guessing the people there are a bit racist as I did not speak their language nor did I look like them and the others did not look like me. Very disappointed in the service. I am gonna go out of the limb and assume this is a new chain restaurant. I came here with family. Upon arrival, we were greeted with warm welcomes. As we sat down and went over the menu, my fam were bummed out when most of the entrees and specials weren't available on the menu. The waitress claimed they weren't serving these orders because of the lack of business that was coming in the summer (lol excuses). I, on the other hand wasn't that bum out because my eye was on the vegan pho which was available so great for me. As we wait for the food, the waitress offered beverage suggestions. Most of us got water, coconut water and coffee. When she bought out each drink, I noticed how some of these drinks are filled half full... was not expecting to see my water glass full and my iced coffee to be half full. LOL. When the food arrived one by one, the waitress would ask who got the porkchop or pho before anyone responds back, she just centers the plate randomly on the side of the table. LOL! I mean maybe she was overwhelm that she was serving a big group but we were the only ones there. I think that got me feeling disappointed was my vegan pho. I mean I do not expected a high quality dish because this is a chain but god damn that pho was flavorless. I had to put a lot of hot chili sauce and soy sauce to season it up! Overall, this place is okay. The service was nice but the food could've been better. My rate: 2 1/2 stars honestly but I round it to a 3 because like I said I am gonna go on a limb this a new restaurant. Also at the moment, they are not taking credit/debit card. Food was excellent and it's owned by an Older couple. A very homey atmosphere. They're very short staffed so don't come here on a holiday, if you do, expect to wait. Again, Food was delicious. We got the Pho Saigon, Pho Ga and Broken rice platter. read more
