    Miso was so tasty

Seeking a mom and pop restaurant experience, you should check out KimChi located at 6701 Black Horse Pike, Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234. This cozy Korean-Sushi spot offers fresh, delicious meals during very limited business hours (check the schedule). It's the kind of place where the food is made with love and the service makes you feel like you are visiting your favorite grandma's house. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by a sweet woman who seated us and handed us menus. The setup is simple and charming, some things are self-serve, like grabbing drinks from the fridge, but the way the food is served feels personal and homey. KimChi has small number of tables, and to our surprise, they do not offer takeout or delivery. The space was clean, and although the staff was clearly very busy, the atmosphere remained calm and never felt rushed or chaotic. We didn't get to ask many questions since they were constantly on the move, but it did no matter, the care they put into preparing the food spoke for itself. Plus, we were already familiar with their business concept, so we understood and did not feel the need to press for more interaction. The menu is limited and changes depending on the time of day, but the signature dishes are absolutely worth it. We ordered the spicy pork and miso soup (hands down the best I have ever had), along with gyoza and kimchi. Everything was flavorful and generously portioned. The vibe in the restaurant was also chill, laid-back but respectful. It was a diverse crowd, and everyone seemed to understand and appreciate the owners vision. Because of the limited seating and hours, people were mindful about not lingering too long when others were waiting. All in all, KimChi offers a dining experience that is rare these days (at least in NY). It is not just about the food (which is excellent) it is about how you are made to feel while you are there. I would absolutely go back and recommend it to friends and family. There is adequate lot parking outside. The restaurant is less 20min drive from Brimingtine and Atlantic City.

Best Korean food I've had in NJ, hands down. Run by an elderly couple, and you can feel the care in everything from the warm, cozy atmosphere to the amazing, genuinely friendly service. The food tastes fresh and homemade, with real depth of flavor. And the kimchi? If they sold it, I'd buy all of it. A true hidden gem.

Kimchi is a locally owned mom & pop restaurant located in the Cardiff plaza where Goodwill is. There's lots of parking, but the restaurant is small & cozy with tables for less than 30 people. They do sometimes have off hours - they open for lunch & close between 2-5 & will take dinner seatings from 5-7pm. They also don't do takeout orders, but they will provide you with a box if you can't finish their generous portion of bulgogi that I absolutely love. The owner who is also the only waitress is super sweet but do allow for extra time since everything here is made to order & so authentic. Drinks are self serve from the fridge in the back with pitchers of chilled water & you grab your own cups. For food, Kimbap is something you have to get if you're a sushi lover. The difference between Japanese sushi and Korean Kimbap is the addition of extra vegetables in the roll like pickled radish & burdock root. This makes it even more flavorful than a simple salmon roll, and I'm a fan! I love both the regular & spicy versions. There are even non fish varieties too. The japchae is a sweet potato noodle stir fried with cabbage & beef. It's one of the most flavorful ones I've had here & is a great compliment to whatever you order here. If you love Bulgogi, which translates to "fire meat" you will really love it at this place because they come out on a sizzling hot stone plate to make your bbq dish more flavorful. It will get a little smokey in here so plan on smelling like food afterwards. I'm a huge fan of the spicy pork & beef versions. They also offer chicken & Kalbi ribs as well. For soups, I've had the spicy tofu soup & the beef dumpling versions & both were excellent. For the tofu soup, they'll cater to your spice preference & it will also come out in a stone bowl with a freshly cracked egg that will cook very quickly in the bubbling liquid. You get a bowl of rice with every bulgogi & hotpot entree & also a side of kimchi & cucumber kimchi. The prices are very reasonable for the portion sizes & the quality of the food, & this is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the area because I love Korean food!

Tried Kimchi today and was not disappointed. The bulgogi was amazing and fed 2 people. The appetizers are tasty as well. The ambiance and service here could be better, we never got waters our entire meal. But as far as food and price, I'd come back.

Amazing! Best Korean food we've had since our visit to Seoul. The kalbi (short ribs) came out on a sizzling plate and stayed warm the whole time. The kalbi stew was my favorite. Filled to the brim with veggies with and generous chunks of short rib. The seafood pancake was delicious, super crispy, and big pieces of seafood inside. The salmon kimbap was gorgeous and stuffed with large pieces of salmon, kani and veggies. The banchan cucumber was super crunchy and flavorful. Love this place!

I was excited to try a Korean restaurant as an out of towner. I've tried many Korean cuisines in the past. Korean food is not new to me. The staple for me for Korean food is the tofu stew. I felt like the stew was lacking flavor. The kimchi was salty. The ambiance was ok. The service was ok until I went to pay. I did see the sign saying $20 minimum for credit card. I was ok with that with tips. I went to the counter to pay the lady pointed and smack the sign hard to communicate the $20 minimum charge. I told her it was ok to ring up the charge even though my meal was only $16. I gave her $22 total for my bill. I thought she was rude for doing that. I don't think I would go back again.

Hole on the wall Korean BBQ spot that will blow you away. You do not cook any of the food yourself, instead, it is brought out to you already cooked (appetizer and entree style). All of the food there is absolutely incredible and unique. The food is simple but extraordinary. Just note, their last seating for dinner is at 7 PM.

    Our food packaged so nicely!

We stopped here on our way to Atlantic City and so glad we did! We had the intention of sitting down and having dinner there but realized it was take out only when we got there. It ended up working out perfectly because we were able to get some drinks from the dollar general near by and tailgate before our concert! The husband and wife duo here really work so hard and I don't understand the other reviews about service being an issue. While we did have to wait a bit for our food, we were more than happy to wait because we could see that everything was made fresh and to order. We got the jap chae and spicy tuna kimbap. The jap chae was delicious as was the sushi roll. Our friend got the shrimp shumai and beef bulgogi. We also got healthy portions of kimchi with our meal - love homemade kimchi! I would call ahead if you are in a rush but the food is worth it!

    J S.

Wonderful food!! Everything is so flavorful, can't wait to try the whole menu. The kimchi pancake and every entree we have gotten has been great, even the edamame is extra special.

You order at the counter & they'll call out the number on your receipt when it's ready. They don't have seating, but you can find benches throughout the boardwalk. My favorite item is the chicken wings! They're so crispy & the spicy chili sauce is my absolute favorite! It's actually spicy - I'd say a 7 out of 10 with a hint of sweetness. The meat inside is tender & juicy but you'll need plenty of napkins & wipes for that sticky sauce! There are other sauce options if you can't do spicy, but this particular sauce is the best in all of south Jersey in my opinion. They also have Korean rice bowls with bulgogi beef, pork, veggie or spicy tuna. I've tried the beef & pork & both were very delicious & authentic!

Korean food isn't naturally my first thought when going down the shore but I'm glad it's an option. My wife and I split the chicken sandwich (spicy honey soy) and corn dog (half cheese/hotdog). The chicken sandwich was a generous portion. Anytime I get "spicy" at a restaurant/fast food spot it's not spiced enough but this packed a punch. Nice balance with the sweet from the honey and the salt from the soy. It was topped off with a refreshing slaw. My only gripe was the bread. If I had to guess it was potato bread. It was super soft but dense/heavy. It was still an A+ sandwich. Came with a bag of chips and canned soda. The corndog was nothing short of amazing. Great crunch, melted mozzarella, and quality dog (Nathan's or Hebrew). I got it drizzled with spicy mayo and ketchup. I preferred the corndog as it was easier to eat. Get plenty of napkins or you'll wear your food . I would highly recommend and can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

Everything was delicious, from the apps to the dishes, and definitely very healthy portions! Service was pretty good as well, with attentive staff despite there not being a whole lot of them. The food is Korean-inspired with some fusion elements, and all of it was nicely executed. Fried chicken bites were a pretty big hit, and the pork buns were good as well - crispier than usual, but still really good. Toppoki was nice too, and have to say that calling it rice gnocchi is pretty smart to make it easier to understand outside the Asian POV. Kimchi paella was essentially kimchi fried rice, but tasty and filling, and the scrape off parts at the bottom, that's rice gold right there. I don't always eat rice, but when I do, I prefer slightly burnt at the bottom of a stone pot. Second visit, I went with fire chicken, which is tasty and has some kick. I did notice that my not Asian colleague was asked if he was sure about the three fire symbols, but I was not :P Space is pretty nice inside too, a nice combination of old and new; the bathroom was nice and clean, and the general feel inside is casual but elegant. I wouldn't be opposed to returning, but would need to know much more about allergy protocols and awareness, which admittedly isn't always a strong point in Asian cuisine.
