For Vietnamese in Ohio, it's fine. My 'brother' is Vietnamese and I've had some amazing food with him. The pho is good and the portions are good for the price. The spring rolls are good. My boyfriend ordered the bahn mi and said it was good. Had a lot of veggies on it. The only thing that I miss is the lettuce that you normally wrap around the egg rolls. I have to ask for lettuce every time. For some reason, every Vietnamese restaurant in Ohio doesn't include it. But they do in other states. read more

So delicious! We ordered thru DoorDash and I can't wait to eat it again. If you have ever had Pho or wanted to try it, Pho Mi is great! Their broth is perfect, I had sliced chicken and it was plenty for 2 meals. Ordering it carry out got a ton of food, not sure if it's different dining in with bringing broth leftovers home. Tom Thit entree was also good, not spicy at all so we added some hot sauce, but a lot of pork and shrimp. Easily two meals again! It has been a few months since we went to Pho Mi. I was saddened to see that the restaurant was under new management. It still has the same menu, but it is not the same food. I always get the sate with soft egg noodles. Today it was just spaghetti in teriyaki sauce. There was NO spice at all. The shrimp was served with the tail on. The old way was just shrimp without the tail. Good thing I was paying attention. My son ordered fried rice and he basically got steamed rice with rubbery chicken. He ate maybe 3 mouthfuls before he tapped out. The boba tea is now served over ice. So why serve a smoothie over ice? After being given the check, when my card was returned so was another customer's. That did not make me feel good that they had random credit cards floating around the restaurant. If you went to Pho Mi in the past, save yourself the trouble and pass on returning. read more

Absolutely love the food here. This is my third time visiting in about a month. Unfortunately, today when I visited I ordered the salt and pepper fish which is displayed at $13.95. When the waitress brought the check to me it also said $13.95 on it. When she charged my card however, it was charged for $17.15. I immediately went to the counter to let her know of the discrepancy. The waitress then said the price has changed and that the price on the wall was from last year. She also showed me another price on the wall - which was different, but still not $17.15. She said that it was because of tax, but the other price on the wall was $14.95 so with Ohio tax at 7.25 percent it still would have only come to $16.03. Both the waitress and the manager just kept saying the price has increased and that they told the owner to change the signs but they would not do anything to correct it. I informed them before leaving that I would be posting a review to make sure that people were aware before they visit that the prices posted may or may not be the actual price they pay. They seemed un phased by this, however. Either way, There is still a small possibility I will return at a later date because the food is exceptional and the quality is superior, but I will be sure to ask the price up front and will not be paying with a card. read more

I also ordered lemongrass pork chop and chicken with rice and it only came with pork. The broth used to be really good too! But now it's really bad. The best Pho establishment in our area hands-down! My favorite is the house special beef noodle soup. Their portions are huge and I feel great after the meal. I could almost eat pho for lunch every day of the week, but was somewhat disappointed with the Dayton area's selection of Vietnamese restaurants and its pho. That is, until I tried Pho Mi. I've been to Pho Mi three times for lunch over the past month and have been very pleased with the results each time. On my first two visits, I had the Pho Dac Biet, the House Special Beef Noodle Soup ($8.25). On my last stop with my parents who were in town visiting, I had the Pho Tai Bo Vien, the Sliced Beef & Beef Meatball Noodle Soup ($7.50) and we shared a grilled pork belly bánh mì with the optional jalapenos and liver pâté ($4.50). On all three occasions, I received a generous-sized bowl of pho with equally generous amounts of meat and noodles. My pho was accompanied by a plate of fresh cilantro, Thai basil, mung bean sprouts, sliced jalapeno, and lime wedges. Most importantly, though, was the broth, which I found to be balanced, clean not oily, and flavorful although not as meaty as I would've liked. Still, it was easily the best all-around bowl of pho in Dayton and for the price, the best value that I've found in Ohio and Indiana, thus far. As for the bánh mì, it was served on a fresh baguette filled with an ample amount of savory pork belly and vegetables. I'm not sure where Pho Mi is getting its baguettes, but while it looked different than other baguettes I've seen used for bánh mì, it had a nice crustiness on the outside with a light airiness within. It was a taste winner and a lot of sandwich for the price. Is Pho Mi the best pho joint that I've ever been to? No. However, it's definitely near the top of my list in terms of all-around quality, taste, service, and value. In a town where chain restaurants are practically the only game in town and ethnic cuisines are frequently "dumbed down" for mass appeal, it's a joy to find a true (I'm assuming) independently owned, family-run restaurant that is offering up a consistently solid dining experience. This place is a mix. The servers are fantastic - very warm, friendly & helpful. The eating area is cozy and clean. The service is efficient; food comes out very quickly. The menu has a lot of options. We thoroughly enjoyed the sweet & sour chicken soup. The Mi Ga was full of noodles, and came accompanied by very fresh herbs & veggies, however the broth was not very flavorful & had a burned smell. The chicken was unnaturally white, and had a strange flakey texture. I actually thought the meat was fish until I tried it. It was definitely not the best I've had. The chicken fried rice tasted and smelled strongly of sesame oil. I'm curious to try the other options here, as it is clear they are trying to do a good job. Bottom line: Not the best banh mi in the world, but definitely the best in Dayton. Since I've recently traveled to San Francisco, I cannot say they were the best banh mi sandwiches (see photo) I've ever had, but they are the best in this area. They offer a good deal that includes one banh mi sandwich, one side dish (spring or summer roll), and a drink for around $7-8. They offer pate on the sandwiches as well which makes this a legitimate Viet restaurant in my book. Looking forward to reviewing the pho on my next visit. read more

I have not tried the Banh Mi. Having said that, I did try all their pho, a spicy seafood noodle soup, some breaded shrimp appetizer, the bubble tea, the cha cha banana, the summer rolls, and more I can't remember at the moment. Anytime I need a Pho fix in Dayton, this is where I head. I love it. The atmosphere is on point, the food is delicious and filling, and the owners and waiters are EXTREMELY nice. They check up an adequate amount of times and are polite. I'm a standard Chicken Pho kind of girl, and I thought it was good for the price, and the servings are huge. The summer rolls are pretty basic, but they are among the best I've had. The shrimp fritters (I forgot what they were really called) were alright...I would skip them. My BF got this really good, really spicy lemongrass and shrimp noodle dish once though, and that was AMAZING. Bubble tea is great. The chacha banana dessert is also yummy, and it comes with ice cream. I'm Filipino, so it reminded me of a similar dessert in my culture called banana lumpia. Overall, love this place. Nice casual atmosphere and great service! We had two servers that worked very well together and they were attentive to our needs. Ordered the lemongrass beef vermicelli noodle bowl which was just okay. The beef was seasoned well but could've been cooked more or grilled instead. Not the best Vietnamese food, but the service is sweet and great. This is one of the few restaurants that also serves Banh Mi (Viet subs). However, you have to get it with the pate. I appreciate that they have combos with fresh summer rolls, fried spring rolls, or wonton soup. The pork chops are huge, but bland - it's not an authetic Vietnamese flavored pork chop and dry. Bigger is not better. All and all - I probably won't go back unless I am really craving a Banh Mi. So, if you had Vietnamese food before from the West or East coast, I would pass. read more

Pretty good place. After having been to both Saigon Vietnam and orange county California my standards are a bit high but for a Vietnamese place in the Midwest they have done a fine job. The interior is a bit vanilla for my taste but I understand they haven't been open that long. Maybe they will put an LCD on the wall and play Paris by night for that true Vietnamese feel. The food was good although a bit bland by my standards. We had the 89 and 90 and wish they had been served with pickled vegetables (carrot,cucumber, etc) The service was very good. Two teenagers and an older women who were all very kind and attentive. Overall a really good place to catch a bite. read more

Being from Hawaii, and living in L.A., I've tried many a Vietnamese restaurants. 5 stars for the nice owner, 3 stars for the food. The broth isn't bad for the pho, and price is very reasonable. The broth itself is not as rich as others I've tried (which would come with more variety of meats like brisket, tendon, tripe, etc). However, the sliced meat was pretty tasty with a sliver of tendon attached. The summer roll itself is was a bit soggy, I think the wrap was just left in water a bit too long, prob by accident. I prefer my rolls eaten with peanut sauce as opposed to vinegar chili sauce. The banh mi was pretty good, I had the bbq pork. My husband really liked it. The Thai iced tea boba was waaaay too sweet. I won't be ordering it again. All in all, it was an ok experience, the owner is super nice so really hate to disappoint him, but I need to be honest. As a pho obsessive and a big fan of Vietnamese food in general, I think it's great that this cuisine is becoming more and more widespread in this country. And because it's still one of the least Americanized Asian cuisines, it's worth trying just about anywhere, even deep in the Midwest or South. Pho Mi is located just south of the Dayton Mall in what appears to be a former Tex-Mex restaurant, on a somewhat seedy block featuring a liquor store next door and, while we were there, a large young group at a bus stop across the street that looked like they might segue into a street party (or brawl), and lone pedestrians seemingly wandering aimlessly about. In Vietnamese-heavy and largely rough-and-tough towns like Houston and New Orleans, such a dubious setting is often very promising food-wise. But Pho Mi doesn't do much to distinguish itself. The pho broth was pretty lackluster, with pale color and little beefiness to the stock and not much in the way of seasoning. The beef itself was a bit overcooked on arrival. Lots of noodles, though, so very filling. And Pho Mi is very generous with fresh herbs, sprouts, and jalapenos. Cafe sua da was served pre-prepared, which I think robs the drink a bit of its bold coffee taste. Overall, a better lunch stop for the money than we could have gotten elsewhere in the vicinity, and probably an even better deal at dinnertime. P.S. Vietnamese restaurants often have entertaining and/or amusing music. This time: A 21st century Vietnamese pop duet that was pretty much a ripoff of Kraftwerk's "The Model." read more

I had dinner there last night and it was OK. Had the #3 Bi Quon shredded pork rice paper summer roll for an appetizer, and it was OK...a little tough and chewy though. And enjoyed the #22 Pho Dac Biet House Special Combo Beef Soup as the main course, and wasn't bad at all. Probably the most beef I've found in any Pho soup I've had in years. But the broth was a little off...still tasted good and I ate the whole thing! Wish I had more bean sprouts, but I did ask for more of the sliced HOT green peppers, and they were great. Had a Tsing Tao beer, and that washed it all down! Probably will go back...as this may be the only game in town. ;-) read more

I've been to Pho Mi twice now, and I think it's safe to say that the food is excellent. I don't remember ever having had more flavorful broths, and for your money, you get enormous portions. I haven't been able to finish a bowl of their soup at one sitting yet. Their beverage-refilling could use some work, but the wait-staff is friendly and eager to please. The tables have always been clean, and we didn't have to wait long at all for our orders to arrive. No free appetizers are provided. I like this restaurant-- I truly do. The trouble is, Dayton has several delicious Vietnamese restaurants-- not as many as California, but we do alright. I loved the crab Rangoon. It was deliciously fried and delightfully crispy. The summer shrimp roll is good and a great way to start the meal-- so fresh and light. Is it the best summer roll in Dayton, though? I'm afraid not. I wasn't floored with the vermicelli and spring roll salad, however. Again, I think the bar has been raised by other competitors in the area. All this being said, I will keep coming back because the prices are great, the food is fresh, the service is great, and in the dead of winter, a hot steaming bowl of Pho can't be beat! I'm not really the one to ask about Vietnamese food because this was my first time eating pho. Although, my initial reaction was that it was pretty good. To start, we ordered cokes. Something unique about this restaurant is they gave us 20 ounce bottles of coke with cups of ice. That's pretty generous. Each coca cola product will cost you $1.95. Next, we ordered shrimp spring rolls. These are the only Vietnamese food I have experience with. The rolls were a bit chewy, but had a nice taste to them. What I found interesting was, right under the shrimp, was a strip of meat. The cilantro was strong, but not over powering. Also, I loved the peanut sauce. Each summer roll will cost you $1.50. For the main entree, I order the sliced beef pho. The soup was not super hot, but it wasn't cold either. The noodles were soft, but it didn't seem like they were all from the same package. Some were wide and others were thin. The beef was a bit tough, but there was a lot in the dish. Overall, it needed to be a bit more salty and hot. This dish will cost you $7.50. Overalls, I recommend this place if you are looking for a nice Vietnamese lunch or dinner. read more

I came here with my parents on a weeknight, and the restaurant was packed. We ordered the Goi Ga (chicken salad) as an appetizer, lemongrass chicken vermicelli noodle, stir fried squid, and fish. The best dish was easily the chicken salad, which was fresh and came with shrimp crackers. We were all disappointed with the rest of the items, as the noodles, squid, and fish were not flavorful at all. Also, we had to ask for rice on the side which I thought was really really weird. Compared to other Vietnamese restaurants, the food here is not very authentic. The service was good but it took a long time for our food to come out - we will not be back here in the future, but it is nice to see a Vietnamese place in the Dayton area. read more

I'm a huge Pho fan so I was eager to try this spot having just moved from VA which has a lot of great Pho restaurants. Its a pretty good sized restaurant with a lot of parking with easy access. Inside was your typical fair and the service overall was friendly. The pho was pretty average IMO. Any pho lover will tell you its all about the broth and the broth I had here was too watery. The quality of the meats weren't bad but I've had better. I was excited to see they had banh mi's though. If you've never had it, its a delicious vietnamese sandwhich. Theirs was actually pretty good. Overall not bad. I might return when I need another fix. read more

Our family has been trying to find amazing Asian restaurants since we moved into the area 3 years ago. That being said we were once again disappointed by another Asian restaurant. My daughter ordered the beef with broccoli, my husband ordered a stir fry dish, and I ordered a spicy pork pho dish. They said their dishes were ok, but I was highly disappointed by my pho. The broth was extremely bland, the pork was bland, and the noodles were past over cooked and mushy. Another thing that bothered me was the fact that the floors were extremely sticky. MEH. We were excited to try the pho considering it's called Pho Mi, but we were quickly disappointed. The broth only had a hint of flavor; almost as though they watered down the pot. The noodles tasted pre-packaged, and the meat (although plentiful) was also flavorless. We also tried the shrimp summer rolls and the pork summer rolls. The shrimp ones were tasty- but the peanut sauce they provided again seemed watered down. The pork summer rolls were dry and flavorless. To summarize, FLAVORLESS. Food was great until I found a hair in it. I didn't send it back or mention it to them since i had basically eaten a fourth of it but i stopped eating it when I found it. They do however have FANTASTIC BOBA TEA! If you have never had it before, this is the place you need to go for it. I suggest trying the Coffee Flavored One.
