Fast food - foodcourt Pho is a little scary because it may be hit or miss. I loved the Pho at Yorkdale but that closed down but this place at First Markham Place is great. Great selection of dishes and good quality for the price. I had the Pho with all the fixings and my wife had lemon grass chicken. Everything was great and at fair price points. This place has the cheapest pho I ever seen. I brought the Pho Special to go for only $9 before tax and the portion size is probably a medium. I didn't mind the taste of it, it was just ok. Not much beef flavour in the broth but they did give out a good amount of meat. Things I didn't like was how they pre-cooked the bean sprout and didn't give me cutlery. Overall I'm pretty happy. We were hopeful that this would be a good meal after deciding to order from here instead of another place in the foodcourt. I should've checked the reviews first. At first we were going to order #32 - grilled pork chop and spring roll vermicelli but there's a sign that says they're out of pork chops. Not sure if they just don't order pork anymore or they're out for the day. It seemed unlikely that they'd sold out for the day when it was not too long after 11 am. We went with #33 - grilled chicken and spring roll vermicelli instead. We were told it'd be 8 minutes. It was not barely even 2 mins later when the food was ready. Kinda suspicious when it's only been 1/4 of the estimated time. Biting into the spring roll was a bit tough as it must've been refried (leftover from the previous day?). My bf and I came here to get some take out after shopping near by. I had a craving for some bun( vermicelli) but this totally ruined it for me. I ordered the vermicelli with chicken n spring rolls and my bf ordered the pork chicken rice . Both were $7 and came with a bottle of water. Price is 5/5. The chicken tasted old, dry and some pieces looked like "mystery meat " . The chicken also had a lot of soft bones in it making it really hard to enjoy my meal (2/5). The only good thing was the spring rolls, it was crunchy and tasted like how it should be (4/5). The fish sauce did not taste like fish sauce, it was salty and not sweet at all. It also left this ratchet smell in the car :/( quite different aroma than what we are used to). (1.5/5) The pork in my bfs rice was sooooo dry, even after dipping it into the fish sauce , it didn't make much of a difference. The chicken was as bad as the one in my meal :( (2/5) I am very unsatisfied from this meal :( not sure what I just ate ... ! It's cheap and they give you a lot of meat but quality is terrible! Horrible. Don't come here - this place serves terrible Vietnamese food. I had massive cravings for Vietnamese vermicelli with grilled chicken, and was initially delighted to find it here... Only to be disappointed. First, the chicken was absolutely tasteless and had been so overcooked that it resembled pork (in particular, like char siu). There was no flavour whatsoever and the meat was unbelievably dense. I absolutely don't understand nor comprehend how that's possible. Second, the fish sauce itself was completely diluted. There was only a slight sweetness and some nasty funky taste. I am a lover of fish sauce, and have no idea what this liquid is. I left the majority of my dish untouched. Not too spicy, but spicy enough for me, and the beef slices are usually very tender and chewy. Green onions, white onions, vietnamese sausage are also included in the bowl. I usually special request some beef tripe, as I love it...for some reason. Broth isn't full of MSG unlike some other fast food places. All comes to an inexpensive $6 or so along with a bottle of water, pop, or soy milk (or iced coffee for extra charge - HIGHLY RECOMMEND), and it will fill you right up! read more

I like how the noodle is served in a plastic bowl instead of one of those take out containers... Have you ever see those styrofoam containers melt because of how hot the broth is?! The owners are really friendly and speak Vietnamese, Cantonese and English fluently so no problems ordering here:). Pho Ling's has been at First Markham Place for many years now. Not much has changed, still the same friendly and always smiling group that work there. I usually order the House Special Pho, which is loaded with Beef Tendon, cooked and rare beef, tripe and beef balls on top of a decent portion of noodles. They use dry noodles, which I'm not really a fan of, but the broth is what makes it so good. It doesn't have a overwhelming amount of MSG, and it's the right level of sweet/savoury flavour. A good bowl of pho, for a decent price. I tried the Spring Roll and Lemongrass Chicken Vermicelli my most recent visit, and it was definitely disappointing. The accompanying sauce tasted like a mix of Salt and Vinegar, lacking that tangy and sweet flavour. The Spring Rolls looked delicious, but were loaded with pork that had a funky taste and huge chunks of taro. The grilled chicken was okay, but was lacking flavour. It was just lacking flavour all over, and didn't have veggies like basil or enough crushed peanuts and fried onions to give it some crunch. We might order the wrong item. We ordered Pho. It's ordinary. 2 stars for the noodle soup. However, based on other's review, I paid extra for coffee. Man! it's the worst coffee I ever have in my life (among any styles of coffee). It tasted like that the owner had filtered the same grounded coffee for 3 or more rounds.
