    Beef Pho
    Andy L.

Overall this was a mediocre experience. It took more than 30 minutes for 1 bowl of pho to come out after ordering. (I know the exact time it took because you get charged for the meal when ordering and the Apple Pay notification was at 32min ago when my bowl arrived). I am aware that a dinner rush can cause some delays, but on a Monday and with only 3 menu items, you'd think they'd have a more efficient system. The mandatory order-by-phone system is also very impersonal and a bit depressing, especially when sitting at the bar, where normally things are more social and friendly. Because one has to order from your own phone's Toast app/browser, you also have to pay and decide on a tip at the beginning. This is also a suboptimal experience IMO, as I had no idea how the service would be at the time I was asked to pay. I will say that when the pho finally arrived, it was nicely presented in high-quality ceramic and the lime/jalapeño side dish was neatly organized. The bartender was quick to fill waters which was appreciated. The main waiter / manager did thank me for my patience after I inquired about the half hour wait after ordering, but it would have been nice to have my plate / utensils set in advance of the food coming out as a sign confirming that my order would be coming out eventually. Any communication really would have been appreciated.

This spot is a little too fancy to have "Junkies" in their name. We came here for some Pho on our second night in DC. The downside is that you need to order via your mobile phone. I ordered a Meatball (Pho Bo Vien) Pho which wasn't on the menu. We had to flag the waiter and ask for assistance. The broth and noodles were delicious. The meatballs tasted clean but rather rubbery/overcooked. We also ordered egg rolls which were delicious but unfortunately only came with 2 which were cut in half. We had to order another plate to satisfy our craving. These were extremely crunchy and flavorful. Service feels like it is non-existent until you put your order in. Aside from the mobile ordering, the meal hit the spot.

My friend heard that Pho Junkies had one of the best phos in DC, so we stopped by for dinner last Tuesday. You can order via Toast by scanning the QR code that's unique for every table. PHO JUNKIES - ALL THE MEATS - 19.75 Almost $20 for a bowl of pho is quite pricy. They do give you a good amount of meats, though. The brisket and eye round steak were tender and juicy. I enjoyed the tendon a lot too. The broth was quite good and rich, and the noodles had a nice chew and texture that didn't dilute the broth with starch. However, the bowl was pretty small and I can't say it was worth the amount we paid for. After tax and tip, I paid closer to $25, which is almost double the amount I'd pay if I went to Pho 75 in Rosslyn. Pho Junkies is definitely one of the best phos I've had in the area, but not sure if it's worth it.

A bowl of pho with clear broth contains slices of beef, bean sprouts, chopped green onions, and fresh herbs such as basil. The dish is placed on a wooden table, with a smaller bowl of additional ingredients and a black bowl of pho in the background. A person is seen holding chopsticks, lifting a portion of beef and herbs from the black bowl.

While visiting DC we discovered that this place was close to our hotel and decided to give it a try. The Pho was delicious and the service was great we did returning for more before leaving.

Two bowls of pho with broth, bean sprouts, lime wedges, and sliced jalapeños are on a wooden table. The table also has glasses of water, beer, and condiments, with a person wearing a white baseball jersey sitting behind the bowls. The setting appears to be a restaurant with a casual dining atmosphere.

My friend and I ventured into Pho Junkies before a Nats game craving a warm bowl of Pho! I was so happy to find a pho spot in Navy Yard - a bit of a challenge when in the city. The ambiance is very calming and relaxing. We were seated instantly and scanned the QR code at the table for our menus. I went with the Steak Pho and was not disappointed! The broth was so flavorful and paired exceptionally well with the noodles and chives. The spice blend and fresh vegetable toppings throughout the pho bound the rare steak in perfectly. Loved the option for extra limes and jalapeños on the side! I want to take a moment to appreciate the staff! All were so kind and accommodating throughout our meal. I had to charge my phone and finish up a task for work, which was a bit stressful. However, the Pho Junkies staff made sure I had an outlet to charge my computer and provided us the best seating to feel comfortable. Great service! Will surely be back to enjoy a bowl of pho very soon!

This was the most exquisite photo dining experience I've ever had. It was a completely silent service, from the time you walk in the door until you leave. The menu is delivered via a QR code on the table. It is short and to the point, but allows for full customization of your bowl of pho. Once ordered, the only man I saw in the restaurant came to deliver a glass of water, wrapped utensils and precisely arrange your items on your table, backing away with a respectful bow. I don't think I've been so artfully and precisely attended to in any restaurant and it was superior, to say the least. I ordered the Spring Rolls and Beef Pho. The Spring Rolls were perfectly prepared, flavorful, served with a light and acidic dipping sauce. My water glass never ran empty and dishes were whisked away immediately upon finishing my appetizer. Then the pho showered up, with the thinnest shaved beef, rare and melt in your mouth good. The broth had every element a good pho showcases, and the bowl was adorned with fresh Thai basil and cilantro. It's a good thing I don't live here, because I'd spend my monthly budget only dining in this very spot! Thank you for a beautiful and contemplative dining experience Pho Junkies!

I LOVE PHO!!! In D.C. for a work conference and walked down the street for dinner by myself. This pho spot is perfect for that, the service was great even though it's intended to be hands-off. You do have to order online through a QR code but that was no big deal. The spring rolls were delicious! The pho broth was also delicious but the start of the show was the tofu. I wish my pho spot back home served their tofu like this - it was amazing.

The bar - The image depicts the interior of a bar with a dark ceiling and hanging light bulbs. Two flat-screen TVs are mounted on the wall, displaying sports and weather information. A round clock is positioned between the TVs. A staff member wearing a mask stands behind the bar counter, which is equipped with bottles, glasses, and bar tools. The decor includes a small plant and framed pictures on the wall, with a beverage refrigerator visible on the right side.

I really enjoyed the taste of the broth and thought that it came out. Probably the hottest I've ever had. I do appreciate the order and pay for everything and be done, but I feel like I wanted some dessert and if they had that where I could see it readily available I would've ordered it. The staff were super attentive to all of my Needs especially coming around every minute or so to fill up my water. I will definitely be coming here again and I highly recommend this place. My total price for about $.20 shy of $20.

This place is connected to the apartment complex on the corner so don't make the same mistake as me and get trapped looking like a fool! Don't ask how I know. I found the staff to be super attentive and respectful. The pho was delicious and a good portion. Priced well. I would come again.

Vegan Pho - A ceramic bowl contains vegan pho with clear broth, topped with bean sprouts, chopped green onions, and fresh herbs such as basil. Sliced jalapeños are served on a small blue dish nearby. A glass of red-colored drink is placed on a white napkin to the side. The setting is on a wooden table, indicating a casual dining environment.

Perfection Personified Amazing Food Quality, Great Customer Service! You can customize your order by scanning the QR code. The food comes out so quickly. I love it here

Two bowls of pho, a Vietnamese noodle soup, are placed on a dark wooden table. The bowls contain broth, rice noodles, bean sprouts, chopped herbs, and lime wedges. One bowl is in the foreground, and the other is in the background, with a person reaching for it. Small plates with sliced jalapeños and lime wedges are also on the table, along with utensils and napkins.

This place was so fire the food was so good. I honestly don't know how anyone could rate this below 5 stars.

heart shaped scallion I saw in my pho

I understand the hype! We went around 10 minutes after opening so had the place basically all to ourselves, it was very quiet and nice to get into AC in the summer heat. We didn't see much of the people working here but the man who brought our utensils, food, and water was incredibly nice and wished us goodbye as we left. The pho was delicious, I forgot to take pictures until I had basically finished because I noticed a heart shaped scallion in my bowl that I thought was cute! Would recommend and definitely making this my go to pho spot!

Pro and beginners chopsticks here! Unicorn shown in photo. Shark edition not shown. - A person holds a pair of unicorn-shaped chopsticks with a purple mane and a white horn, positioned over a wooden dining table. In the background, there are glasses of water, a plate with salad, and a person taking a photo with a smartphone. The setting appears to be a restaurant with a casual dining atmosphere.

I was still a little hesitant until this nice woman came along and vouched for the food. I had no idea about what to order, but as soon as I saw her food come out I was sold. I told the guys to give me exactly what she had, which included a quarter chicken, corn, and potatoes. I got back up to my office and enjoyed all of it. The chicken was well done and well seasoned, the corn was tasty, and the potatoes were better than what I was expecting. Can't really explain it but they were like roasted and mashed at the same time.. whatever it was it was great! Oh and that sweet orange sauce that they gave me took the chicken to another level. Insert fire emojis Lastly, the guys working the truck were some of the coolest food truck people that I've ever interacted with. Combine that with good food and you can def count on my coming back again.

Both times I've ordered the same thing - a quarter dark meat with one side. It comes with basmati rice (which you can sub out for a different side) and a choice of a salad, coleslaw, and corn. I've chosen the coleslaw both times - I find it so unique, with its cabbage and basil-like dressing. Definitely NOT your usual slaw. I will try the corn one of these days, though. On to the chicken - They give you a good amount of chicken and it is very, very juicy. I can't comment about the skin (I don't eat the skin, I take it off...I know to some of you that's a sin!) but my co-workers have previously commented that it is nicely seasoned. They also provide you with a mild barbeque sauce, and today they gave me a new sauce, which was curry-based. It's slightly thicker than the barbeque sauce, which while it has good flavor, is a bit thinner (it complements, not overpowers, the chicken). I alternated between both sauces today. I have to also complement the owner/manager - I had exactly $8 in cash (keep forgetting about the taxes for food trucks!) so he let me go without paying the $.80, that was really nice of him. I'll be sure to give it back to him next time! Overall, a solid, filling meal, and I would return!

**** 4.5 stars ****…read more As one of the progenitors of "better" street food for the DC area, Andy Kim and his family have been providing a quality lunch time meal at a fantastic price for several years now at their famous L St cart (http://www.yelp.com/biz/bulgogi-cart-washington#hrid:P03Wi3K_BGfBmyV7WowE_g). I'm not sure whether the idea to open up this additional spot was to cash in on the food truck craze currently engulfing the District, or if he just wanted a second location and this was more convenient than lugging around another cart each day. Whatever the reason, I'm glad he's here. This new location, right in front of the Metro Center station, is marginally closer to me, and it's a pleasant shady walk the whole way around noon. The truck (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/GD4QOboiYcXUKbFw5DvjbA?select=8kLF59cmaVQyGxu6x_Mzdw) is just as easy to spot as the cart ever was, so just look for the bright yellow spot in the midst of drab grey buildings. Andy said that he and his dad are now manning this truck, while his mom and sister take over operations back at the original cart. The prices are all the same as before, $7 for any combo of beef or chicken, spicy or not, however they do not offer the kimbap sushi here like they do at the cart, which doesn't really affect me. I'm not sure if they make all the sauce at once, and then distribute it among the two locations each day, but it definitely tasted slightly different than what I've gotten from my visits to the L St cart. The 3 times I've picked up my usual spicy combo (a mix of half spicy chicken and half spicy bulgogi) from here it has been the perfect balance of heat and flavor. Add in a double order of their sweet vinegar "salad" to cool off the heat and I'm totally set. That's really the main reason I'm bumping this up to a 4.5, because at $7 for a giant plate of food this is really tough to beat. If they could ever get their kimchi to not suck I would probably give them a 5 and put them right up there with Fojol Brothers.
