More Pho adventures but this time in lovely Hemet, CA. To paraphrase a line in a John Denver song "I spent a week one day in Hemet". Pho House is located off Florida in the Target Shopping Center. The restaurant itself is fairly large with plenty of seating. However, on this visit we were the only ones dining in the dining room. The layout is quirky and you will find strange things normally not found in the area people dine. Not to be alarmed as this reviewer found the establishment to be clean although a bit cluttered. Service was average at best which is concerning since we were the only ones dining. For lunch we ordered our traditional shrimp spring rolls and a bowl of chicken pho. To drink we opted for ice water from the tap. Food arrives fairly quickly but the pho came before the spring rolls. That is equivalent to receiving your entree before your appetizer. Pho is good but not great. Spring rolls were wrapped sloppy but tasted good as did the accompanying peanut sauce. Price was on point with other Vietnamese restaurants with soup priced at $15 a bowl and 2 spring rolls for $7. To sum this review up, my wife said "the food is good but not worth making another drive up here". read more

The spring rolls were super crispy and dense, with a lot of great flavors in each bite. It even had some great pickled vegetables and vinegar dip to add in some extra flavors. I can't believe I was a loyal customer here I came here twice a week. This time I came with my family. I asked for a side of noodles and I asked him to put broth inside usually every single other place. I've went to in Chino Hills Eastvale they always charge just for the noodles. They never charge for extra broth. The doors were wide open and fans were blowing inside, the ac must have been off or broken. We had a group of 12 so we sat and waited to be helped. There was a gentlemen sitting down on one of the chairs and walked over and took our order. Food took some time to come out, even though we were the only ones in the restaurant at 830pm. It's very hard to find a restaurant that serves a non beef broth that is bursting with flavor. I'd say the food is mixed, sometimes it's the best and other times it just does the job I guess. But this most recent time I was struggling to chew and swallow. The service is the worse there and I only went back because I was craving Vietnamese food but like I said this most recent visit has scared me away for good. First I asked for Thai Tea and they gave me a really sweetened creamer Thai tea so I asked if they could add more tea to balance it out. He said the milk would help better and I said no, I want more tea. He tried to tell me that the creamer wasn't the one with the taste but the tea actually had the taste. Lies. So he took my drink and added more creamer (not what I asked for) and now I'm left with basically a cup of creamer and a splash of tea‍ Take a look at the first picture to see how bad it was. I made a tutorial video for the owner since he didn't want to listen. All I asked for was more tea. Next, I ordered Bún with shrimp and pork. He brought me bún with shrimp only so I told him that this was incorrect and if he could please bring me back some pork. Instead he was adamant that the number I ordered was only shrimp and went to grab a menu and show me I was wrong. I wasn't. He saw I was right and walked away with my food to go fix it only after he realized my order was wrong. Note the shrimp looked good at this point. And now he took my whole plate, brought me back some nasty shrimp that I couldn't even chew without gagging and pork that was burnt or boiled too tough so bad that I couldn't even bite it. This was pettiness after the drink situation, I know it. How could I have good looking shrimp first and then you bring me back something completely different when all you had to do was add pork on top. I want to state that I only came here for the food, the service was never good but it didn't matter because it didn't affect my food. Now that it has, this restaurant has nothing going for them.
