    Northern-Style Spring Rolls
    Ploy N.

Came in on a rainy Sunday night but they're unfortunately out of noodles...They're still new so things may run out as they still get the hang of things. Family-run, very friendly. Vibes are cozy. We ended up picking a few things from the Rice section. My Shaking Beef was nice and tender. Generous rice portion, could use more beef though. The sauce was delicious. Came with a side if soup too, which was warm but a tad salty. Their Northern-Style Spring Rolls were fresh and crispy. Super fresh and hot. Overall, I think it's a good new Vietnamese spot for the area but not anything life changing.

We came on a busy Saturday and got seated quickly. We had the Saturday special which was Steamed Rice Rolls w/ Grilled Pork/Chicken and the sauce that came with it was tangy and bright and delicious. I loved the texture of this dish. I ordered the veggie pho with beef broth too. It was complex and comforting to my soul. I'd love to come back! Inside was cute and felt like walking inside an older home. My only suggestion is to please get rid of the air fresheners inside. They were unnecessary and I want to smell the amazing food not the fake scents.

My go-to Vietnamese restaurants in Portland typically serve southern/central Vietnamese food so I was craving some northern Vietnamese delicacies without traveling to the mainland. I was elated when I saw that Pho Hathanh was a new establishment offering northern Vietnamese cuisines in the metro Portland area. The place is cozy and the hospitality definitely made the dining experience feel homey. The crab noodle soup had a clean yet flavorful broth with a decent portion of ingredients for the price point. The intestine porridge was warm, hearty, and the intestines appeared well prepared and cooked. Flavors tasted authentic as well. The coffee was decent but nothing too noteworthy.

We came here for lunch as we were in the area. Its a nice cozy place that makes you feel like eating at home. We ordered an assortment of items to share - potsickers, salad rolls, bun cha, northern style beef stew w/banh mi, special banh mi, and shaking beef. The food came out pretty quickly which was nice. The server was very polite and quick to get us anything we needed. My favorite out of the items we ordered was the special banh mi. The bread was nicely toasted and the banh mi had some substance in it. I thought the shaking beef could have a bit more char on the meat and more flavor in the meat for the bun cha.

Solid bowl of northern pho! It's pretty hard to find northern Vietnamese food in Portland. Not pictured is the bun cha. I've only had bun cha a handful of times but this one was delightful. The pho was flavorful and sometimes I do crave thick noodles so this hit the spot. I will have to return to try some of the other menu items and the weekend specials.

Cute restaurant, good food we got pho and the bun cha ! Yummy and liked the setting ( we went mid afternoon it was very quiet and easy to get service)... wished there was lettuce or rice paper to make wraps with the bun cha.

Food, service, and ambiance were all top tier. Inside is smaller but warm and vibrant, all the staff were so kind and went above and beyond. Definitely will be coming back!

I saw a TikTok video of this place and wanted to go try it. I haven't seen any other place with bun cha Hanoi on their menu or the fresh pho noodles. The pho was amazing the broth very flavorful and light does not need hoisin or siracha. As for the bun cha Hanoi it was such a big proportion and the flavor was perfectly light and refreshing. I will definitely be back to try out more.

First time at this new spot. Had a WONDERFUL bbq pork bahn mi. The ambience was very relaxing with chill vibes instrumental music playing. Service was polite. Will be back for pho on a cold day. They also bun cha which I'm excited to try!

I hit the JACKPOT stumbling on this spot! I'm torn,--I wanna keep this pho heaven my little secret, but I also need this place to thrive so I can keep slurping their magical noodle soup for years! I swear, their pho is the BEST I've ever had--and I've downed hundreds of bowls in my life. Don't even get me started on the egg rolls, they're perfect! Oh, and their Vietnamese coffee? It's like a happiness IV drip--cures any bad day in one sip. You gotta try it!

The meat on the luc lac has a nice char on it and a sauce that is almost sweet. Service is quick and the vibe inside is very trendy with colorful decor and lights. Great for a night out. There were dragon on walls, umbrellas in the ceiling, a huge full service bar. Our dishes came out within few minutes. We got the chicken skewers, chicken pho, chicken luc lac and steak rolls. We liked the small plate dishes, but the entree ones were disappointing. The chickens were chunky and dry, bland flavor. As much as we loved the vibe of the place, we didn't enjoy the food as much. The staff members were very joyful and friendly. They were explaining the process to every guest and keeping everyone informed on waiting time. During dining, they were also available to help.

The fries and wings were flavorful appetizers and a great way to start the meal. Service was great overall, but a bit hands-off after the food was served. I don't remember anyone checking back in on us. Nothing was wrong with the food, but it would've been nice to have that quick follow-up. Would definitely come back, especially to check out their brunch next time.

Downtown Portland's hidden gem for authentic Vietnamese!…read more I was walking around downtown Portland and stumbled upon Cuốn Vietnamese Street Food, and honestly, it was the best meal of my week . If you are looking for fresh, flavorful, and satisfying comfort food, do not walk--run to this spot. To get the full experience, we ordered a variety, and every single item was a hit. We started with the Beef Pho, and the broth was the absolute star. It was rich, aromatic, and deeply savory, clearly simmered for hours. It was the perfect dish on a sunny Portland day. We also grabbed a Chicken Banh Mi. The bread had that perfect crispy crust with a soft, airy crumb, and the chicken was grilled to perfection with fresh veggies and herbs. Of course, we had to wash it all down with a creamy, sweet Thai Tea--it was delicious and the perfect end to the meal. Beyond the food, the vibe is great. It's a super clean, casual spot with big windows letting in lots of natural light. It's set up for quick counter service, which makes it perfect for a fast lunch downtown, but the staff is so friendly and welcoming that you feel right at home. It's a family-run business, and you can taste the passion in the food. Highlights: · The Pho Broth: Seriously some of the best in the city. · The Banh Mi: Fresh bread, great fillings. · The Service: Fast, efficient, and incredibly kind. Pro Tip: Don't forget to grab your own utensils and sauces (the chili crisp is a must for the pho), and help yourself to the free self-serve hot tea. It's the little touches like that which make this place a winner. I am already planning my next trip back to try the Crispy Pork Belly. Highly recommend

Positives: fresh, well made, very flavorful proteins. Cons:…read morePrice I tried Cuon for the first time and enjoyed it. I went for a Vermicelli bowl where you get to pick 2 proteins. I selected Pork Belly (their specialty) and lemongrass chicken. The bowl itself is standard Vietnamese fare, nothing special, creative or exciting in that sense. That said, the ingredients tasted fresh and the proteins were very well seasoned and cooked. The pork belly skin had an awesome crunch and you can clearly taste the lemongrass in the chicken. The included spring roll had nice crunch but little flavor. Unfortunately, outside of Pho, Banh Mi and Noodle Bowls, there's sadly not much else to the menu. No Vietnamese salads, stir frys, etc. Either way, what they do make, they seem to make quite well. So, on to my main issue ie, that for a place thats only open for lunch, the prices are a bit too high. I noted about $16 for a Banh Mi sandwich, no sides. Pho was around $20 and my noodle bowl was about $20 as well. Weirdly, its about the same prices as eating lunch back home in Miami, a FAR more expensive city in general. In fact, I've often had more exciting Vietnamese in Manhattan for lower prices. So while its easy to recommend Cuon on quality, its not a top recommendation for lunch value in the PDX which is why Im docking 1 star.
