First meal we had in Vancouver and it absolutely hit. Everything we had was made with very fresh ingredients and tasted amazing. Huge portions, casual vibes, and a great price. Would absolutely eat here again.

Came by for dinner in a Saturday evening and it was the perfect timing since we got the last table! The staff were super accommodating of our larger party and was able to seat all of us together! Tried out the betel beef wraps which took a little longer to take than everyone else's dishes but it was soooo worth the wait. The beef was super fragrant and spring rolls really crispy!

Nice spot for pho. It gets pretty busy here but service is fast. Water is refilled frequently. I ordered the #20 pho and it had a bit of everything. Also enjoyed the chili oil with the noodles. Cash and debit only.

Decent pho place on Main. Parking is available on the side streets. The place is a bit cramped. Theme is pretty bare bones, with some pictures on the wall. Some of the tables have benches instead of chairs. Staff were friendly. Pho is quite decent. Broth is nice and clear, but noticeably saltier than other places. Not sure if this is intentional, but something to keep in mind. Meat is fresh and tasty. Noodles aren't soggy. Not a bad place to check out if one is in the area.

Bun Chay + Lychee Smoothie
Dana S.

Had a very good meal here, bun chay (tofu, vegetables, and spring roll on vermicelli) and lychee smoothie. The tofu was cooked in a sweet and savoury teriyaki sauce which was a nice change of pace from the lemongrass sauce that's more common, and it wasn't oily at all. The bowl came out freshly prepared with everything crisp and piping hot. Generous and filling portion, balanced between protein, veggies, and vermicelli (lots of each). The lychee smoothie was evidently made with real fruit because I got a few (only a few) small chunks of lychee, and the flavour was very juicy. My total was about $24 dollars (before tip), so not a bargain, but sensible for the amount of food and the good quality. As an aside, they make most their own condiments in house, and those that I had with my bowl were great. You can buy jars to take home. The vegetarian options are helpfully listed in their own section of the menu. There are sufficient options, basically one veggie version of each type of dish. The staff was very brisk but not unfriendly. Just working efficiently and no extra frills, which is common for this type of place. The wait time for my food was reasonable with how busy they were. Not much to speak of in terms of ambiance, it was a little hectic with so many people coming in for takeout and standing around near the register in the back of the restaurant, and the walls and some the furniture are showing their age, but if you don't mind those things, it's comfortable enough. I wouldn't go out of my way for this, but luckily the location is convenient, so I'd definitely return, and I'd recommend it for Mount Pleasant folks craving traditional Vietnamese.

Prices are very good for the area. Keep in mind it is cash/ debit only. I had the vermicelli bowl, which was good. My favourite part was actually the spring roll. It gets busy fast, so expect to wait for a table.

Bun bo hue
Rachel L.

Such a disappointment with their bun bo hue. It's literally a regular pho with chili oil. There was no viet sausage, shrimp paste or congealed blood. It was a few pieces of beef and a single beef ball. The portions are not very big. And although the soup base was good, I had such a bad headache and so thirsty afterwards. Not a satisfying meal at all.

Kenneth W.

Oh man, you gotta try their lemongrass chicken banhmi! It's made with grilled chicken hot off the stove so you enjoy a rich taste with all the aroma. We ordered take out so it's probably even better at the restaurant.

# 22: brisket and rare beef
Poonam S.

The prices are reasonable : about $13 for each bowl. The quality was good. The quantity is very good! The service was OK - they were either tired or just simply not in the mood to say hello and thank you. But as I observed people come in, I noticed they were 'selective' with whom they greeted. Seems discriminatory to me! Ah well, that was my observation! They need to address the hygiene in their washroom, it was filthy! If i'd seen the condition before I ordered, I would've never eaten here. The food is good and I feel like I should give them more than 2 stars but the washroom hygiene and lack of enthusiasm in their services got me thinking.....for now i'll give 2 stars because my experience didn't deserve a 3 star. I hope small changes are made because they make good food!

Just ordered pho and wings from pho goodness... horrible. When the order arrived I opened the box to find wings that looked like it was yesterdays left overs.. half eaten and stale. What kind of business would ok this for delivery? Gross. So disappointed

Went to this place for the first time and I was surprised it was cash only. The server was a bit rude and I didnt really want to come back. Food was okay but I was not overly impressed. I had found that other places had better service and food. My meat was not great. It was rubbery and I would much rather go someplace else.

Spicy sate
Ricky C.

I usually order vermicelli bowls, but this is one of the few Vietnamese restaurants that I absolutely love ordering pho from! The broth is so flavorful and they give generous portions. I also tried their pho with the spicy sate add on and it was also very delicious!

First meal back after our Europe trip. Time for some Asian food. We wanted to check out Toshi for sushi but they had an insane wait list of 30 people. Decided to try Pho Goodness. They have a second location on Davies Street. We dropped in on a Tuesday evening (around 8:15pm) and it was busy. Service is standard fare. Go up to the counter at the back to pay. The menu consists of starters, banh mi, pho, noodle soups, rice dishes, vermicelli noodles, vegetarian options and drinks. They also have an option to add a spicy peanut sate broth ($1.75 extra). - Herbs - bean sprouts, Thai basil and lemon wedges. - Pho dac biet (#20) ($10.95) - rare beef, brisket, beef balls and tripe. Rare beef was the best of their meat offerings. We added the peanut sate ($1.75) which wasn't too spicy but on the salty side. I've had better sate elsewhere. - Bun cha ca ($11.50) - aka. fish cake noodle soup. This came with homemade fish cakes, tomato and celery. Nowhere close to the quality you get at Hoang Yen. Broth lacked depth and the fish cakes had no meaty substance. - Bun thit nuong tom (#45) ($11.50) - we ordered this for takeout. Oddly, they don't bring it to the table and didn't let us know it was ready. Nothing really stood out at PG. Decent but there's much better Vietnamese options. 2.5 stars.

Your preference will depend upon subtleties about noodle thickness and texture and broth flavors, but there is always, always a line in front of Ramen Danbo. A lot of it is probably due to hype or fame, but I have to admit that I think it does edge out the others in several ways. I think the noodles themself are more flavorful and more delicate. And I have to say the pork was extremely tender and flavorful. The egg was perfectly prepared, and the broth was perfectly seasoned to my desired spiciness level. They also do a great job searing their gyozas. Because of its overwhelming popularity, they have perfected the ordering process so that you can fill out a form while you're in line, which greatly reduces your wait time. It's easy to get in and out of here in 30 min, and I'm sure that is their goal. As a result, the dining experience might not exactly be relaxing, but if your focus is on the best quality bowl of noodles that you can get, I think it is worth the wait.

You order and they make it in front of you and you head over to grab your tempura or sides and then you head off to the till to pay. It is a very efficient system. Noodles a bit under, just a tad too firm and didnt have the signature chew. I had the nikutami bowl, and the broth was too salty. The egg was soft-poached fine, and the beef was fine. I also got a tempura shrimp, which was fine. A bit battery heavy but crispy and fresh enough despite sitting under the heating lamp. Also got a piece of tempura spicy chicken - basically coated in shichimi and i think chili oil. This one was WAY too salty. They had a new yuzu drink which I also tried - too sweet, and for $5, total rip off. Considering the quality, their prices are on the high side. Its just not good enough a product, especially when there is exceptionally good ramen to be found elsewhere in Vancouver. Street meter parking if you can find it. Otherwise there are paid lots nearby. Counter service, and people were friendly enough. The inside of the restaurant is typical. Clean enough. nothing fancy.

Paid parking was not too hard to find on the Main Street but during busy dining hours it might be difficult. We got seated right away at the bar since there were no tables open and the service was quick. Traditional Japanese style ambiance and even the bathroom had rounded Japanese bowl sink. As someone who doesn't have chicken broth (paitan style) ramen, I was really looking forward to the original ramen I ordered but I was a bit disappointed in the flavor profile of the dish. The ramen had both chasu and seaweed paired with thin round noodles. The broth was creamy and had a hint of chicken flavor but even adding several rounds of their soy sauce/salt seasoning they have on the side to adjust your broth to your liking-- I found that the richness of the soup was not what I had expected from the reviews that I read prior to coming here. Overall, a bit disappointed in the flavoring of the broth but maybe we came on an off day. I would be willing to give it a shot again in the future if I had ramen cravings and given that it was very affordable ($11-15 per bowl with tip), but I would probably opt to try another place first.

Review #3 for 2026 I…read morereally wanted to like this place. I watched many videos and read reviews before coming here, but it just did not hit the spot. After a cold day of exploring Stanley Park, we felt that ramen would really hit the spot, so we went here not wanting to deal with a wait at Danbo with a hungry and tired toddler. There was NO wait when we arrived here and we were seated immediately... which for a place that was really hyped up, should had made us think twice. There was only 1 other party at the restaurant. Now, the workers were super nice and the food came out quickly and we did eat everything because we were starving. We all ordered the cha-shu tamago ramen, 2 of us got spicy and 2 of us non-spicy. It came with extra chashu and the soft boiled egg for about $20 Canadian. The bowl was a good size and there was a promo for free extra noodles while we were there. Everyone except me in our group took advantage of it because I was too full from my bowl. Now, the broth here is different from other places because it is chicken based and not pork based. Everything I had seen about this place promised the broth is every bit just as good as the pork bone broth... however, the broth we received looked flavorful, but was bland. It was completely bland. There was no richness to it, not even a hint. I don't know, coming from southern California, the flavor just was not there period. We did all eat our food because we were starving, but it for sure did not hit the spot at all. Maybe we got an off day? Otherwise our broth had literally zero flavor to it. We all wished we had tried the other ramen place instead right after trying our ramen. Would I come back? I will have to say definitely no. We do not live in Vancouver and I do not want to waste any meals on a place that did not taste good the first time we went.

The gentleman (owner?) greeted us and provided us with some suggestions on their best sellers. During our dining experience, he was a little loud with shouting instructions to the kitchen and we did feel a bit rushed to finish our meal and not occupy the table with diners lining up. I ordered the beef noodle soup, and the noodles were prepared well (good texture and not soggy) and the soup had a slight but not overwhelm sour taste from the preserved vegetables. The beef wasn't as tender as it could be, but it wasn't chewy or tough to eat. Prices are reasonable at around $20 after tax and tips. While it wasn't the best or most authentic beef noodle soup I've had, it does hit the spot if I'm craving Taiwanese food downtown or want a hot bowl of noodle soup on a cold day.

I think most people do that so it also gets filled up during the lunch hour rush. The food is ok, nothing special. The price increase makes it even less appealing. I don't know why there is chili in my Taiwanese beef noodle soup. I don't like spicy soup. Lucky I am ok with spice but I wish it is stated in the menu? So if you cannot take spicy food, check with them before ordering. The beef noodle soup is tasty as I do like the addition of pickled vegetables in it, giving a bit of tartness. The beef is tender though the quantity is very little. More noodles than meat ratio. The combo is totally not worth it now that the price has gone up to about $13. If you want rice and noodle for lunch, I think Peaceful Restaurant across the street is a better bet. At least the portion is bigger.

Bun Bo Hue (Small $16.19) - super spicy, but that's fine since I enjoy spicy foods. The issue was that the broth was quite bland, and the spiciness wasn't enough to make up for it. Usually, this soup base has a lot of depth and flavour from broth that's been simmering for a long time to extract those flavours, but this was probably one of the worst ones I've tried. Decent portion of meat, at least 3-4 large slices of Vietnamese ham and goor amount of beef slices. The noodles were SUPER undercooked! Good portion of bean sprouts, and came with 1 wedge of lime. Beef Brisket and Beef Ball in Noodle Soup (Large $17.62) - again, VERY bland broth. The noodles also tasted sort of like freezer burn? Decent portion of meat and filling enough. Just had to douse in Siracha and oyster sauce to finish the bowl though... Pork Spring Rolls ($10.48) - flavour was decent, nothing special. Deep fried okay as well. No complaints here but no endorsement either. There's no music in the restaurant either so it's a tad awkward. Staff are friendly. Lots of seating, including a patio area.
