This is my first time having Pho in general and didn't know what to expect. I love coming to these small local places because you can expect to get what the food should normally taste like if you were to go to that country. That said, I thought the beef Pho was awesome! Broth was delicious and there was plenty of chili paste for me to add as I liked. I also got a lychee boba which had an odd taste too it but I believe it was because of the boba I chose not because the tea itself. The service was there. Respectable but quiet. I think he was the owner and was the only one working back in the kitchen. The food itself is average--nothing special--but since there aren't many pho options around, we decided to give it another try. One major issue is the pricing. The prices listed on their website don't match what's charged in- the restaurant While I can understand price changes, the portion sizes don't reflect the higher cost. For example, we paid $69 for spring rolls, pho, 1 boba and a combination plate--which feels extremely overpriced for what we received. On top of that, we called ahead for pickup, but when we arrived, the order wasn't ready. We ended up waiting an extra 30 minutes. I understand there were only two staff working, but if we had been told to come later, it wouldn't have been a problem. Instead, it felt like poor communication and a waste of time. When my family and I first moved here this was our Pho place but for the past year there has been changes like serving size/price/ consistency of food quality. The only good thing I can say about this place is that the broth is tasty. They only offer beef broth though. I asked for no tripe or tendon and there it was in my pho when I got home. Instead of offering more of the other meats they just removed the tendon. The shrimp spring rolls are small and taste weird. It comes with the weirdest consistency, worst peanut sauce I've ever had. I wanted some soup, and I knew this place would hit the spot, so I took a trip to yuba on this 83 degree day. I walk on up, and i realize that im in the sweet spot, between 2 and 4 for their happy hour pho and drink deal! I get to the counter, i tell the man i will do the happy hour special, and he pauses slightly, then gruffly says there is no happy hour now... eh? I didn't make a fuss, politely said "no happy hour?" and ordered the soup anyway. I cant tell what's in a man's brain or heart, so i do not know if it was discrimination, if it was greed, or if it was just rudeness. The motive does not justify false advertising, and that was exactly what this was. Clearly the happy hour is still largely posted on their door. I ate my meal quietly and left. The soup was good, but the experience was disappointing. You get what you give, and you get 1 star. read more

Ordered spring rolls that were supposed to come with the crunchy rolls with the meat which they charged extra for but it came with a thinned burnt slice of pork, little shrimps, and supper skimpy rolls. We decided not to complain. Then the expensive calamari plate came out, batter was good but you only get a few pieces. Following was the pho which had good broth but very little of everything like the meat and noodles. The server lady was super depressing she acted like she hated her job or hated you and was trying to rush you out of there. Just yesterday my brother and family went there and said some of the same things down to the behavior of the server Mexican lady. Vietnamese restaurants are few and far between up in this area, so I was happy to find this spot near my workplace. Ordered the pork and spring roll vermicelli and it was good. Great char on the pork and overall good flavor. They had spring rolls on the menu, but told me they no longer make them, so I wasn't too happy about that, but oh well. Best pho in Yuba so far in my opinion! The broth was so rich! The potion was perfect! I will say though, the broth was on the oily side but that's the only downside. The staff was friendly and answered every question I had. They make sure their customers are taken care of. I love having pickled jalapeños with my pho and was bummed when they didn't have it but the pho was good enough to distract me from not wanting the jalapeños anymore. The day I went, there was no AC, I'm not sure if it was broken or they just don't have one... but they did have about 3 big fans blowing and that still was nice. Oh boy... poor Yuba City lacking decent Vietnamese. No air conditioning during a heat wave. We should have left because of that alone! The service was really, really bad. The bahn mi WAS A JOKE!! The special sandwich I ordered had MAYBE 1 and a half ounces of meat on it. It was cut very thinly in a rectangle and there were 4 pieces. Not even enough meat to cover the length of the bread. There was MAYBE a teaspoon of pate on the entire sandwich. There was no other detectible sauce and therefore the sandwich was incredibly dry. I pointed this out to the owner who looked at the sandwich and said absolutely nothing! Did no acknowledge or apologize! My partner ordered one as well and she had more meat than I did but it was also a very dry sandwich. She asked for mayo from the server and he said they did not have any. The sandwich was so bad she went to the counter and asked again and was told they had a mayo/butter combo and they brought it to her. It was obvious the mayo was sitting out in the unairconditioned restaurant because it had the dry yellow hue to it. Gross! The only redemption and the recipient of the one star is the nice young woman who took our order at the counter when we arrived. Very sweet and made our meal hopeful which ended up not being the case. People... drive to Sacramento!! read more

I've been resisting cuz $12 for pho is insane when it used to be $6-7 in another life. I finally bit the bullet and said WTPho! Ok they could have their $12 and I could have quail eggs, tripe, brisket and beef. And their broth was really tasty. Generous portions too I might add and fresh veggies. Alright if you're going to charge a premium for street food then by all means make it worth it, and they did! Now $7.50 for the bahn mi didn't quite do it for me. They were good but not $7.50 good. Again, in another life these used to be $2-3!! Jasmine boba milk tea was too sweet, maybe I'll ask for less sweet next time.
