Just moved here and looking for some great Vietnamese noodle bowls with the grilled meat (Bun thit nuong cha gio). They had the dish but it was not even close to what I had hoped for. I had them sub the chicken for the pork and it included shrimp but the meat wasn't grilled at all. The chicken wasn't even warm, just reminded me of chopped up left over chicken. The bowl had the rice noodles and traditional vegetables but it was nothing special. The peanut sauce was way too thin and flavorless. The fried spring rolls were ok but everything lacked flavor, it was a huge disappointment. I am so missing my favorite Pho place back in Colorado! I don't think I will be back to this place, my quest to find a good Vietnamese place is going to be a challenge. read more

I had the Pho with shrimp and it was great. This was my first time having it and I had carryout. When I got home, I noticed all the veggies and the noodles were separate. I just did a google search to see what I was supposed to do and tried to eat it all at one sitting which is a no can do. WARNING! Worst service and worst Pho of all time. Please avoid this place. Nothing but confusion and mystery meat. We were asked to reorder multiple times because the waitress forgot our orders. When our food arrived all 5 of us could not identify what type of meat we were eating because it was full of what looked to be tendons and ligaments. I just read some of the reviews for this place and had to laugh! The person who rated this place poorly bc the meats were "weird" to him definitely does not know his pho!!! I appreciate that Pho Cali offers tripe and tendon, among other "weird" meats that is AUTHENTIC to Vietnamese cuisine/pho. My Bf and I both really enjoyed our meal. The meat and side garnishes were really flavorful and fresh which we both commented on.The broth was good, could be a little richer and fattier but that's preference. The rice noodles were oddly too sticky and mushy but still good. I ordered the summer roll which I enjoyed- good shrimp and some better tasting pork than I've had at other restaurants. I also ordered the banh xeo (Vietnamese pancake). I wish the inside was not so mushy Bc the outside was crispy and delicious! The dipping was really good as well, hard to find since most places tend to make it sweeter or too fish sauce-y. I'm still exploring Melbourne's pho to find the best but I wouldn't hesitate to come back to satisfy a craving. read more

Vietnamese food is in my blood. Pho Cali offered the accoutrement's of a typical Vietnamese restaurant with some added items that won me over. Started off by ordering the bun xeo and fried spring rolls, served with a side of nuoc mam and both apps were both flavorful and delicious. The pho tai nam, for the main entree, was aromatic but not as rich as I have had at other places. It seemed to lack the creamy mouthfeel evoked by the long simmering of the beef bones. However all the flavors were good and the price was reasonable, but not cheap, compared to the pho dives of Austin, which I am use to. Finished off with strawberry bubble tea. It was creamy and fruity but the pearls were mushy on the outside and crunchy in the center, as if soaked rather than cooked. Overall, would return. The service was good and the atmosphere was casual and relaxed. read more

I would like to consider myself a Pho connoisseur of sorts. No matter what city in the world I am in, I am always happy to see a nice big bowl of this delicious noodle soup slid my way. Weather I go with tripe and tendon, or just stick to brisket, I just love it. So, that being said, lets get down to it. Pho Cali makes one of the best bowls of Pho I have ever had. The soup is always perfect with great flavor and never overly salty. The cilantro, peppers and bean sprouts are overflowing over the serving plate and seem almost excited to take a dip in this hot beefy Vietnamese jacuzzi tub of deliciousness. I can't comment on anything else on this extensive menu, because I go to Pho Cali for one reason and one reason only. All signs point to these items being delicious as well. All I know is that I am again happy to see a family business apparently doing well. I wish them continued success. read more

Very disappointed!! The Thai Tea was so bitter I couldn't drink it. The server tried to tell me that the tea was fine and it was just me!!!! I told her that I had been drinking thai ice tea for 30 years and that I some times make it myself. The Bahn Mi were not traditional, the bread was not toasted through and had NO PATE with barely any filling. I also make these when I have all the proper ingredients. They said they didn't have pate and that was the way THEY MAKE IT. The meat and rice dishes were ok at best. The staff didn't want to hear anything - I guess they are set in their ways. My experience was very disappointing especially since it is the only vietnamese place around this area. The customer service is horrible , the service was bad. When you have a question or request they are either outright rude to you or act like you are bothering them. For those who think this is " cultural " are dead wrong , I am Asian and that is not our culture. The food was just as my title states , subpar. If you experienced vietnamese food in Orlando or any other bigger city you would definitely be able to taste a difference. Just returned from eating at Pho Cali. I was impressed with the reviews I had heard, and had never had pho before, so my 14 year old daughter and I decided to try it out. The restaurant itself was unassuming, tastefully decorated, with a small dining area with approximately 10 four person tables with glass tops. We glanced over the menu, which was vast, and decided to go with the Vietnamese egg rolls for an appetizer, and for entrees, I ordered the pho beef (Pho Chin) and my daughter ordered the pho with meatballs (Pho Bo Vien). Our egg rolls came with a sweet chili sauce for dipping. The pho arrived in giant bowls, make sure you come hungry! We were not disappointed, the soup was excellent. However, there was so much left over, we took most of my daughter's pho home (they have to-go soup bowls!). For the price (about $7-8 for a bowl of pho), you get a massive amount of food. We'll definitely be returning. This would be an excellent place for lunch on a cool day. read more

The smell is terrible and overwhelming when you first walk in. We decided to try something different and boy were we sorry! If your American and not open minded FORGET ABOUT THIS PLACE! Move on, exit to the right and go to Haru.. (If that's the kind of food you want and won't be disappointed, yet still trying something different) really in my head I couldn't get off the fact, what am I actually eating and why are the noodles in my soup so soggy and in a giant ball?! I had wonton soup pho the broth was the only good thing and everything else tasted the same a starchy taste. I spit out the wonton. We than had the Stir fry which was not bad, but it was so soaked in glaze, that's all you tasted so you wonder why do they do that? I don't want to know! This place is awesome! The service is friendly, responsive, and attentive. They got our special orders right and the owner even came out to talk about his similar love for abnormally spicy food. I enjoyed my first bowl of pho here. The atmosphere and decor was painfully boring -- imagine a typical Western breakfast diner -- but the food was excellent. Additionally, my girlfriend had the Korean grilled pork, and claimed it was quite good outside the confines of an actual Korean restaurant. The menu is MASSIVE; over 100 choices! Surely, there's something for everyone. Finally, it's very affordable. A very filling & fresh dinner for two only cost around $20. I'll surely be back... I don't like writing critical reviews. But after 3 disturbing meals at Pho Cali, we've decided we can't return there. The first instance occurred when our friend discovered pieces of plastic in her food. We thought this was a one time thing, an obvious accident that could happen anywhere, and we liked the food so we returned a second time. I ordered the Lobster Pho. The lobster was so over-cooked it was like rubber - too chewy to be edible. I had to leave three quarters of it uneaten. I didn't say anything, again thinking this must have been a unique occurrence, just something that someone over-looked. When we returned the third time, this past Tuesday, I ordered the Noodle Soup with Chicken Broth and combination seafood. The menu said it had shrimp, squid and crab. When the dish came, I started eating only to realize after a couple of minutes that there was only shrimp, no squid or crab. I asked the waiter and he replied that they didn't have crab. I asked why he didn't tell me that. He then came back with a woman and without any explanation she reached to take my bowl away. I asked her to please not do that, as I was in the middle of eating. I didn't know what she planned to do. I didn't want to have to wait and be surprised. She then brought me some pieces of squid on a plate. I wondered why, if they had the squid, why they didn't put it in originally. Then a few minutes later she came back with some fish balls on a plate. The taste of the food is generally good, hence the two stars, but I don't understand this restaurant's lack of quality control. They just seem to not care all that much either about the quality and consistency of the food, or the satisfaction of their customers. read more

In the area for training at Patrick Air Force base, I had a craving for Pho. Read previous reviews but decided to try it anyway. Saturday afternoon about 1 pm. Restaurant was moderately busy (five of the approximately 10 tables were occupied and there appeared to be three servers working). That being said, I was shown to a table promptly and my order was taken right away but that is the best thing I can write about the experience. From there the service went down hill and I had to stop someone anytime I needed anything (including a soda refill which is by the way, not complimentary. $1 for refills.). Food was average at best. Shrimp Spring Rolls - brown, wilted lettuce, shrimp not well cleaned/deveined, peanut sauce weak and runny/watery. Would never order again. Pho Tom - not horrible but definitely not something to rave about. Decent sized portion though the portion of sprouts, basil and lime was extremely stingy. This shrimp was very well cleaned/deveined and was tasty though I think there were only about four of them in the dish. Broth was a bit weak on flavor and spice. Did not have that nice deep, rich flavor one expects from good Pho. Broth was also way too greasy. I like and expect some fat in my broth but the oil/grease was excessive in this broth to the point where I felt like my lips and tongue had a coating of oil on them that wouldn't come off. Again, not horrible and considering there is not a lot of choice if one wants Pho in this area, I would probably visit again if I was really craving Pho (but would skip the spring rolls next time!) read more
