I love Pho Bonsa! It's the best pho in Chico. I especially appreciate that they offer great vegan options. As a vegan, I think they have the best vegan pho, along with delicious tofu spring rolls and a tofu bánh mì. Their customer service is incredibly friendly, too. They do get busy, but it's clear how hard the staff works to get orders out as quickly as possible. Watching the team in the kitchen, you can really see their dedication to making sure everyone gets their food. Overall, an amazing restaurant! 10 out of 10!

This place is nice and cheap if you're looking for a good hearty meal. The service was so nice even when I accidentally ordered spring rolls thinking the were egg rolls they took them back right away and even removed it off my tab. I went here with a large group and they definitely were able to accommodate us and ensure we all had a great time. Overall it's not much of a looker but it's a not warm cozy place to enjoy some good pho. One thing that does bother me though are the hours. lol

This was a little sister's first time having pho and this place did not disappoint!!! We came pretty close to their closing time but did our best to eat quickly. The pho was so flavorful and great portions. I ordered a #9 and she ordered a #1. We ordered two smalls and they were the perfect amount. The other option was a regular and I have a feeling that one is a lot bigger.... It was very clean, quick and friendly. Love this place. Can't wait to go back.

This restaurant was one of my favorite spots in Chico. The servers are incredibly nice, the pho was immaculate, and it was a great way to end a day of class and study. Cute little spot that you might miss, but if you see it, make sure you go in!

So close to hitting the flavor and and texture of pho that I am used to eating in San Jose. Only things missing in my opinion would be tripe and nicer cuts of beef. The soup was also a tad bit too sweet for my taste, but I could definitely taste the use of star anise and the other herbs common in pho. Comes with bean sprouts, Basil, lime which seems not to be the standard in this area.

They have vegan pho now, and it's tasty! Most vegan pho I've tried has a broth that's pretty close to plain water. This broth manages to be light, like you'd expect a pho broth to be, but still flavorful, with a mild curry taste. It has become my new go-to comfort food. Aside from the standard pho toppings you add in yourself (bean sprouts, lime, etc.) and noodles (of course), this pho includes: a small amount of cilantro, a small amount of thin sliced and caramelized onions, tofu, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots.

I have been here once before but just had the egg rolls. Which by the way was delicious. Today I came in and finally decided to try pho for the first time. Holy mole that was the best idea my boyfriend has ever had. I ordered the vegan pho because all the veggies sounded good. I am so glad I did. It was amazing. 10/10 we also ordered some dumplings that tasted amazing at well, they came fried and with a chili oil sauce. THAT SAUCE is the perfect ingredient. I dipped my dumplings in it and poured a bunch of it in my pho. Mind blowing. I can't wait to go back. My only wish is that they had a kids serving. The servings are huge. Never a bad thing. Just means I get a few meals out of it.

As a person that isn't from Chico originally but lived here for a while now, I can say this pho is legit. Other pho places in Chico don't take the time to get their broth the deep rich flavor that real pho broth should have. This place does it right and I'm not saying its thw best pho in the world, but it's definitely the best I've had in Chico. On top of that are the reasonable prices, $12 for a large bowl, it is clean and the service was kind and quick. I also had the spring rolls that were very good as well. Will be coming back for sure. They take wireless tap to pay as well. It's a little tucked as way in the small center and is located where Kinders used to be. Google placed it facing out on Normal st. The pho was good, just as others say. But the wait time on a Wednesday at 6pm was outrageous. 45 minutes for 2 bowls. Other tables waited a similar time, and there was only about 5 tables with people no don't know what was going on. I hope they can streamline their process. read more

I've probably already reviewed this new place. The soup base is fantastic, so good in fact that I could order a tall cup of it only. Spring rolls and egg rolls are also great. My wife and I regularly grab a quick meal in this shop now. Definitely recommended for anyone who is into noodle soup from Vietnam. read more

Pho bonsa is my boyfriend and I's go to pho spot in Chico. Being from the Bay Area, it is hard to find authentic Asian cuisine in Chico. Their broth is delicious, the portion sizes are great for the price. We usually get the Chicken Pho and Combo Pho and they are both great with lots of meat. They recently added Banh Mi to their menu and it is the best you can find in this area. The service is wonderful too! read more

idk what I'm talking about really, as this was my first and only bowl of pho so far. -but it was really good. I really like Japanese udon and miso soup but have a hard time with Chinese soup/noods and the sour flavors some of the ones I've tried have had. I was scared of the sour possibilities. This pho was savory and balanced. The accoutrements like; sprouts, lime, sliced jalapeño, chili oil(made in house), and the anise/licorice flavored sprig of something are nice to play around with. Vietnamese coffee is apparently like Turkish mixed with cowboy over ice(stronger than sweeter). The server dood was soft spoken and nice. I'm not a fan of people and being subject to happening upon the crappiest ones in public. -But this atmosphere and place was okay cause of the staff. I was comfy enough to hog it all down without being too self conscious here. I was really satisfied for experimenting here. read more

4:44pm order was taken. Now 5:09pm. We have not receive our garnish veggies for our pho. We only order 3 reg size bowl of pho. Such a waste of our time. Loved Pho Bonsa! The place was spotlessly clean, service was super friendly and quick, and food was delicious. The broth was excellent, probably my new favorite in town. Vietnam Bistro was my previous favorite, however their service has gotten so bad, I don't know that I'll go back. Prices were great- $12 for a large and overall it was a great experience. They also have options for the more adventurous, like Beef Tendon, which is great. Will definitely be back again soon! read more

I've gotten take out from Pho Bonsa just one time and was pleasantly surprised. The takeout packaging was clean and efficient, perfectly suited for pho. The broth was deliciously flavorful and automatic. The additions were quality and well prepared. The pho style meatball for example were the best I have ever had. And plenty of bean sprouts, basil, lime and pepper were included as well. There is obvious pride taken in the preparation of this food and it shows. Its a rare quality. Rarer still, our meal for two was only $25. This place is a total gem in the rough. read more

In the past i used to cook my own Pho & it takes so much time to prepare. Since i found this place me and my son just have to order from them.The broth taste so good. You should try their homemade sate! Mixing it with hoisin sauce with some lime juice and dip the meat into it. So yummy! Best Pho in town! read more

AMAZING!!! me and my boyfriend love pho and we've been to all the places here in chico and they all didnt meet our expectations but this place is beyond great! the broth is so rich and you can taste each seasoning, the meat is so tender it just melts in your mouth. We never drink our broths from other places but this place we drank the bowl clean! the appetizers were also so delicious the spring rolls were packed beautifully and the peanut sauce was just so rich. the egg rolls are crispy and have so much flavor that bursts into your mouth. we will be coming again this is an amazing spot and is now our place to go for some lovely scenery and amazing food! :) THE SERVICE WAS AMAZING! Tried Pho Bonsa for the first time tonight. Highly recommend! Phoned in an order, but didn't get an answer after a few rings. Decided to hang up and just order in person, however I immediately received a phone call back, which was very impressive! The food was ready when we arrived and was delicious! Lots of flavor. The broth I think tastes the same so that's good. However, I noticed that the beef slices were so much tougher and dryer now. Previously, the slices were thin and slightly rare when coming out so they weren't over done. Now, the cuts are thick and chunky and much tougher to chew. Interestingly, they just dump the cilantro into the soup directly rather than have it on the side for you to garnish. They still provide a sizable pieces of tripe, which I like. The tendon is smaller and not as big chunks as before. Sadly, I left a bit disappointed. I might try again in another couple of months to see if they return to the previous level of quality.

Full bar. We shared the breakfast that had 3 scrambled eggs with biscuits and gravy and breakfast potatoes. SO MUCH FOOD! Plus got crispy bacon on the side. It was good and we had plenty of leftovers! The cucumber watermelon margarita was refreshing! The women that work here are super friendly and loved my dog! It's casual and relaxing! Great experience! The restaurant is super cute, the breakfast food came out hot and fast which was a problem, because I made the rookie mistake of bringing my college student. That plate was gone before I could say "how's school going." I ate my breakfast at a carefully guarded, leisurely pace from the far side of the table like a lioness protecting her kill. No heartburn. No regrets. Service was great, food was delicious, vibes were immaculate.

It has loads of vegetables and meat jam packed with flavor! It's enough for 2-3 people but I never share. I did try the pad thai once and it was pretty tasty too. Perfect blend of spices to noodle. Definitely added way too my sauce (oops!), do not recommend adding that much sauce. But the ahi tuna and salmon just didn't taste fresh. The octopus was nice. I liked all the toppings as well.

The chicken was flavorless, noodles too. The siracha aoli was pedestrian. My companions had a ceaser salad with grilled salmon and salmon with smashed potatos. Both said it was fine. The patio was in better shape then last time, no filthy chair cushions. I would not have even come but I was taken to lunch, not my choice.

We shared the black forest ham spatzle ( not sure if I spelled it correctly) which is a German inspired dish. It was delicious! Noodles cooked perfectly with plenty of ham and goodness in the bowl! First time I tried something a bit different and glad we ordered this ( came specially for this house favorite). Full bar and a ton of craft beers to choose from! The place is bicycle themed with a bike shop next door. Very cool and casual! When we left it was already very busy! I will come again because I really liked this dish plus the parking lot was shaded with beautiful trees and outside had a nice breeze!

The…read morerestaurant is classified as "fine dining", but you definitely do not have to dress up for the occasion; I read a couple reviews with people who put quotes around certain words like: "classy" and "fine dining" and I felt, in my opinion, it's not what you'd think- so take that information as you will and wear whatever you want. We made reservations online due to the fact that it was graduation week for Chico State and the process was easy. We were seated immediately, the restaurant is a little bigger than expected because we were seated in the back section of the restaurant. But - definitely small at the same time because in the front of the restaurant is the bar and right next to the bar are the bathrooms; if there are people standing around the bar, there is no room to move around them. (When we were there those standing around the bar were are barely aware of their surroundings and didn't move for you to get through) Our server was vibrant and nice, he made sure to mention the new items for the week and hyped up each dish we chose to order; he even remembered that we were there for a birthday (as I added this comment in the reservation). However there were little mishaps, for example : my husband said no anchovies in his Cesar salad... when the salad was brought: anchovies. Our server took all my utensils when he cleared our table and left me with nothing; he noticed and said: "I will bring you an extra fork for your dinner." - welp , no fork was brought.. We both got pasta: I got the shrimp Alfredo, he got the Alfredo and added meatballs... I raised my hand to try to get our servers attention, but that didn't happen so my husband gave me his fork and he ate his pasta with a spoon. (Don't try it). I think our server was just a little frantic. When we got our food we agreed that the Alfredo sauce was a little watered down with not much flavor. (Had to add salt) but they did give big portions. At the end of the meal, we got brownies on the house for my birthday, which was nice. Overall, will we got back? Probably not. But- we did see a video online stating their calamari was the best thing on their menu, so MAYBE we will go back to try that.? Who knows.

I recently stopped by Pho Bonso to pick up lunch, and I was genuinely impressed. The young ladies working there were absolutely lovely -- full of calm, kind energy (so much sattwa). They were sweet, attentive, efficient, and polite, which made the experience feel welcoming and cared for. The place was extremely clean, well ventilated and orderly. The pho itself was delicious -- full of flavor with a clean, nourishing feel. You can tell they put love into their food. The price was also very reasonable for the quality and portion. I look forward to coming back soon, and I'll definitely be bringing friends or family next time. Wishing continued blessings and success to this beautiful little spot. God bless you! read more

Delicious food, the broth was very good, we got the steak bowl and the steak and meatballs bowl. We also got the spring rolls and egg rolls. We loved the egg rolls. Sauces were good to. They just opened up and if they can keep it this good consistently, it's hands down going to be the best Pho in Chico. I've tasted all pho in Chico and this is the closest you can get to the type of authentic pho you find in the Sacramento area. Super friendly also. read more
