Arrived and walked up to the window and was greeted by Kate, one of the owners. Super personality and provided a lot of information on their business. Got a sample of the brisket which was super moist. You could taste the cherry and apple wood they are using in it, great taste to me. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich platter. $8 includes one side and a drink. Had Mac n cheese as a side, good taste with plenty of cheese. Also ordered the beans they were good but I would probably add maybe some onion and some of the BBQ sauce to them. Also had Cole slaw which was the creamy version, it wasn't bad at all. Ordered a side of 3 wings, $1 a wing, great price, they were flapper's, the wings had a heavy breading to them but we're super moist on the inside. They also give veterans a discount which is a major plus. The business has been open since April and there is a great story behind it. Good People, Great Food Howdy folks! My name is Joel and my beautiful wife is Kate. We started this business with a couple hundred dollars from each paycheck and it has taken two years to get this business up and running! The reason for this adventure is because we have custody of our grandchildren and we want to teach them that anything is possible if you're willing to work for your dreams. The ultimate goal is to teach them the business from the group up so that someday they can continue on the tradition of Good People, Great Food. So if you're looking for some good old fashioned hometown southern BBQ, come see us at Papa Joe's Hometown BBQ! All of our food is locally sourced and smoked daily.

First and foremost, the prices are outrageous especially for the quality of food you get. Next up the staff mixed up my wife and I's order and we each agreed the food wasn't good at all. Reminded me of a school lunch in grade school. I'd recommend passing on this place and spending your money elsewhere, otherwise you'll come away with a much lighter wallet and an unsatisfied stomach.

But this most recent stop at the Reynoldsburg location turned out to be a win. I hit the drive-thru after work and happened to land on Rib Bone Tuesday: 4 ribs for $1.99 each. Quick service, friendly staff, and my food was hot and ready without a long wait. The ribs? Surprisingly great. Thick, smoky, and tender with a nice bark. No undercooked sauce or surprise cartilage -- which I've unfortunately experienced here before. I did ask for center cut (as I usually do), and while they say that request can't be passed along, the bones I received were solid. Texas Toast was a nice add-on -- buttery, griddled, and came two for $1.99. A note for the longtime City BBQ folks: I do miss when they used to offer self-serve condiments -- red onions, jalapeños, and pickles -- along with all the sauces in pump bottles. Now, some sauces like the Original come in peel-top packets, and that just doesn't feel the same. Also, while I didn't grab it on this trip, I stand by this statement: City BBQ's potato salad can hang. Possibly better than your mom's. Could be better than your granny's. I said what I said. All in all, I left satisfied and would definitely go back -- especially on a Tuesday.
