What an unexpected and delightful experience! From the moment I walked into Pho Akaushi, I felt as though I had been transported to France. The garden-inspired décor is beautiful and visually inviting, and each table has its own little Eiffel Tower glass filled with colored sand. The restaurant was immaculate, bright and welcoming. We were seated at a table for two by the front window, which was perfect. We could look out over the lake and fountain while doing a little people-watching as we enjoyed our meal. They also have charming garden-like outdoor seating, and I can definitely see myself dining outside once the Florida temperatures cool down! When we entered, we were promptly greeted by Isabelle, who told us she is from Paris. She explained that they pay very close attention to detail and take pride in using the finest-quality ingredients. After eating here, I believe her! My husband ordered the Wagyu Steak Slices & Meatballs Dynasty Pho, and he was extremely pleased. There was a generous amount of meat, accompanied by wonderfully fresh vegetables. Everything looked and tasted incredibly fresh. I ordered the Akaushi Pho King Banh Mi, and WOW! The sandwich was loaded with tender brisket and crisp, fresh vegetables. The accompanying broth adds almost a "French dip" experience to the sandwich--but calling it a French dip doesn't begin to do it justice. The combination was so much better than any traditional French dip I've ever had. And the bread! The texture was exactly what I hoped for and reminded me of bread I've enjoyed in Paris. Between the bread, the décor and our conversation with Isabelle, the experience brought back some wonderful memories of France while still delivering the flavors of an exceptional Vietnamese meal. This is one of those restaurants where you finish eating and immediately start thinking about what you're going to order next time. We will absolutely return. I've already decided that my next visit will involve exploring their French menu and I have my eye on the quiche! Amazing spot for Vietnamese in Avalon Park! My friend and I stopped in on a weeknight and it was easy to find street parking. The restaurant was pretty empty but started getting more guests a little bit later. Our waitress greeted us and brought over waters. She also asked if we had any allergies that the kitchen should be aware of which was great. We started with the Shrimp Summer Rolls which was fresh, light, and paired with a delicious peanut sauce. My friend had the Pork Banh Mi and loved it, though she found it quite spicy with the jalapeños at times. I had the Grilled Chicken Vermicelli Bowl and it was amazing - lots of flavor depth, perfectly cooked noodles, and great freshness. It was definitely the best vermicelli bowl I've ever had. Also, I always look at the menu before heading to a restaurant and thought it was important to note that the menu on their website is slightly different than the menu in person. I didn't notice anything removed, but they definitely had some more French-inspired items on the in person menu (quiche, croissants, mussels, etc.). I'd recommend for the business to update their online menu! Avalon Park~I took one star off for the very tiny portions, considering the high price tag ($42 for two small portions) and charging 3 % for using my debit card. A debit card is the same as cash. It is NOT a credit card. Most people don't carry a ton of cash anymore and to penalize them for using a debit card is not good for anyone's small business. For those two reasons, we probably will not be back. Let's get to the food! I was in the mood for pho and close by. Looked at the reviews here on YELP and decided to give them a try. We had the N2 Wagyu Lover pho. First off, I'm not exactly sure that this is actually Wagyu. Normally, it's very buttery and melts in your mouth. This Wagyu was a bit chewy. The brisket was Ok. Not quite as chewy as the Wagyu slices. Broth, which I am usually very picky about, was good. I felt like it had so much potential but just felt a little bit short. The portion size was much tinier than I am used to getting in other pho restaurants. I usually have enough for two large bowls. This one was just one small bowl. Our other dish was the R5, Wagyu sliced rice dish. The flavor was absolutely delicious. The marinade really made the entire dish. This one is worth ordering again, although the portion was very tiny. I was hoping I could share my food (pho & rice dish) with the hubs, but unfortunately this was a one person meal. Overall, service was great and the restaurant is really cute. Best Pho in central Florida. Went in on a Saturday afternoon. The place was fairly busy for the time of day, but we were seated right away. Everyone was courteous and we received our food right away. The classic Bahn Mi with pork was amazing as was the Pho. Something about the broth made it way better than any other I've had in Florida. My daughter never finishes an entire bowl, but she did this day. We came here for my daughter's birthday as she loves pho and bahn mi! We came during the week and it is our first time there. It was not very crowded, and the server greeted us right away. Have a very interesting menu with a mix of Vietnamese and French cuisine. It is a little pricier than the typical pho and bahn mi that I am used. The flavors were also unique. Just tried this spot for the first time last night and I'm officially obsessed. The pho broth was incredible - super flavorful with a deep, layered spice profile that honestly beats a lot of the well-known spots in the Mills area. I had the meatball pho and it was perfection. Service was friendly and fast, and you can tell the owners genuinely care about their customers. The menu is really cool too with a fun Viet-French twist. For dessert, I got the crème brûlée and Set A macarons and WOW. The macarons were amaaaazing - the ube one alone is worth the drive, and the yuzu chocolate flavor was such a fun, unique combo. A wonderful spot in Avalon to grab some Asian fusion. Their menu features pho, banh mi sandwiches, rice dishes, noodle dishes, appetizers, as well as a French section. We tried the eggrolls as an appetizer and the grilled chicken rice dish and noodle dish. The eggrolls were so fresh and perfectly crispy, they were delicious! The rice and noodle dishes were also super tasty. The sauce on the chicken was flavorful without being overpowering. Everything seemed very fresh and on the healthier side which I appreciated. Pho? Queue me up for some. I think this is the place you want to go if you want delicious Pho. To be phair, I'm not an expert in pho, but I will say as someone who has eaten a lot of phood in general, the broth alone is satisfying A-PH. That combination was a pho king winner! It was like eating a Chicago Italian Beeph with au jus or an Arby's French Dip but a lot more rephined. The Noodle dish was a bit bland. The Bun Cha Gio was a noodle dish served with fried egg rolls and some other toppings. The noodles were really bland though and could have used a sauce or something. We added some pho broth to give them some phlavor. Bottom line, DRESS THOSE NOODS! The Bahn Mi was unique and I would say not 100% authentic, but I did like their take on it. The bread is all baked in house and was crispy, which took to the dipping very well. Ok, the 5 star dish of the show was the pho broth. Wow, it was silky smooth, rich in flavor with strong spice notes of cinnamon/clove/anise or something. I couldn't quite figure it out, but oh man, I slurped up every phatty drop of that nectar. Service was lacking as the woman working the front of the house was on the phone and phixing up the lighted tree while we were waiting to order. She was also busy doing many other things instead of checking the two tables that had people dining. She was nice, but just pre-occupied. We have driven by this place 100 times and finally made the smart choice and stopped by for a quick weekday lunch. Immediately upon walking in it felt like entering someone's home rather than a restaurant- which I knew meant the flavors would be on point. We started with the cheese wontons. Let me start by saying that the service was great and the restaurant was very pretty inside, but they definitely need to step up their game with the bobas. I love that they have handy carriers on the cups for to-go orders, but I was really disappointed with the depth of flavor. Both bobas were definitely lacking in sweetness and richness. Definitely needed more of whatever Ube or Coconut base they use for their milk tea. They were NOT sweet enough. I've been drinking delicious ones for over 20 years, so there is room for improvement regarding the milk teas here. The actual chewiness and consistency of the tapioca pearls were perfect. We purchased some marinated grilled pork and grilled chicken on sticks as well as their spring rolls, grilled pork balls and fried cream cheese wontons they were selling à la carte. Scanning the menu, I went with the beef and meatballs pho and for an appetizer, I went with the truffle french fries. My dining companion had shrimp with vermicelli and Vietnamese spring rolls. We had the food to go and I got there and the gentleman who helped me brought my food out pretty much withing a half minute of me getting there. I got home and opened the containers and immediately noticed that the portions were a bit small, especially for the price point. Pho Akaushi is definitely on the higher side of the price spectrum. My pho was about nineteen dollars. The truffle fries were about nine dollars. The shrimp with vermicelli was about sixteen dollars. I can't remember the price for the spring rolls. I think that they were about six dollars. Now, their selling point on the pho is that they use wagyu beef. Honestly, I was not overly impressed. The pho needed a bit more of a salty element to it. The broth was okay, but nothing special. My dining companion was not impressed. We both agreed that the best thing about the meal was the truffle fries and they were nothing special. All in all, this was an overpriced, mediocre meal. I am glad to see a Vietnamese restaurant close to me, but I think that I will continue to head towards downtown for my Vietnamese food fix. The menu is pretty limited at this time with a number of fried appetizer options, a couple salads, and 4 different types of Pho; with and without wagyu beef or meatballs. We just ordered some appetizers to try since it's too hot for pho for us. I wouldn't say we were blown away, although Mr. S enjoyed the salad a lot. I think 4 stars is a bit generous but I want to see them expand their menu and offer some additional items like a Bahn-mi hopefully and some things that bring in more of the French fusion.
