I first went to this restaurant when it was at the old location and honestly, wasn't impressed. We decided to give it another try and the food has improved alot! Everything we had was super tasty! Upon walking in, we were greeted immediately and seated. Our waitress and waiter (we had two) were super sweet, attentive, and cheerful. I missed eating home cooked Vietnamese food so we decided to come and enjoy a meal here. Everything was clean (floors, tables, and bathroom). We had the following: Grilled pork summer rolls: 8.5/10 - fresh, bright, and full of veggies, vermicelli, pork, and a crunchy roll inside. It was so delicious! I love summer rolls and this hit the spot! The peanut dipping sauce went so well with the rolls. I loved how the rolls had so many great textures. Pho dac biet (combination): 7.5/10 - the broth was alot more flavorful and it came with a generous amount of meat (beef balls, sliced beef, tripe) and lots of fresh veggies (lime, cilantro, jalapeno, mint, bean sprouts). Last time when we went, the broth was lacking flavor but now, it's pretty good. Beef combo plate w/rice: 8 - the beef was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor! The lemongrass flavor wasn't strong or overpowering and they give you a good amount of beef. It came with white rice and pickled veggies (daikon, cucumber, and carrots) and fish sauce. Again, super flavorful and I actually cleaned the plate! The only small critique was that I thought the meat was going to be like short ribs and the waitress confirmed it was, but it wasn't. Avocado smoothie: 8/10 - I love avocado smoothies and its hard to find a place that makes it right. Here, it was absolutely perfect! The avocado's flavor really shined. Most places would make it way too sweet and you can't taste the avocado. However, I was able to taste the fresh avocado and the sweetness was on point. Tried Pho 99 for the first time after hearing so many people recommend it, and it did not disappoint. The food was really good, and the service was quick and attentive overall. The service was a little mixed though. We had one server who was really on top of things, but then another came over right after trying to take our order too, which got a bit confusing. If you've been around for a while, you probably remember this spot as the old 90s/2000s lunch place. I was hoping they'd update the inside a bit, maybe rearrange or remodel, but it pretty much looks the same, just with a different cuisine now. One downside was cleanliness. Every time the weather turns a little bit colder or rainy, it's time for hot soup. I tried the bun bo hue and the broth was pretty decent. It has good flavor, but at its base, it wasn't really spicy at all. While ordering, we found that they don't really allow for spice customizations. It comes how it is, and you're able to adjust your chili oil to your liking at the table, which can be a pro and a con. If you're not a big spice lover, it's really helpful. But if you do like spice, it's a little off putting because your only option is to load the chili oil in without the nuance of flavoring it to be spicier in the kitchen. Other than that though, the servings are pretty decent with lots of toppings. They have a pretty varied menu with a lot of other options that looked good too. read more

This is a hidden gem on Jacksonville's westside. I love good Vietnamese food and Pho 99 is wonderful! I really enjoy their spring rolls. I have ordered them multiple times and they are always very fresh, hot and well filled. I have gotten the pho many times and it is great. My favorite broth is 30 miles away so when I want to be near the house and want some soul satisfying pho, Pho 99 is my go-to. My nephew loves it. He is always very happy to come here. Their prices are super reasonable as well. The service is always great, attentive but not over-bearing. The restaurant is a good size and isn't crazy busy but steady each time I have gone. Sometimes on a quieter day, the family will have cartoons playing for the kids, and I am perfectly fine with that! I like knowing I am going to a family owned business. The last time I came here, my husband tried their yellow curry. It was pretty good but definitely not the best curry, lacking flavor. But I would recommend any of their soups/pho. They also have boba, pretty standard flavors and they're very tasty. They have tons to explore on their menu outside of pho. This was the third place on our list of pho places to try in jax. Went with the bun bo hue and my wife had the beef pho with brisket, steak and flank. Server was super nice and friendly. We didnt get much of the fresh herbs and bean sprout for our soups but at least they had it. The broth for BBH was good and the ham and brisket were alright. I didnt get the ham hock in the soup this time so maybe they ran out. The beef pho was also decent. Overall, I'd say this was an average BBH and pho experience. The old one with the same name was probably a 4 or 5 with fantastic service and quality soup. I've been here twice now, and considering it's the only option in the area after Yummy Pho and Pho 77777 both shut down, it's not completely horrible. In our first visit, we had a glitch with seating ourselves then having to hunt down menus 15 minutes later. Out second time, the service was much better. But the basil was missing and the meat was a little skimpy. The place is clean and it's "good enough," but if I've got time, I'll probably still swing down to Pho Saigon by the mall for better flavor. And if I have a lot of time, I'd rather go to Pho Today or Bowl of Pho in Southside. read more

Not sure what all the hooha is about, this restaurant is excellent. The food was exceptional and the service was not bad at all. Everyone around me seemed to be enjoying their food and the ambiance. The restaurant is spacious, serves alcohol, and plays jazz music. The prices are extremely reasonable and the portions are great. The pho broth was clean and the bowl came with a lot of noodles and meat. I arrived to the restaurant at 12 o'clock on a Thursday and was able to put in an order right before the lunch rush. Food came out in 10 minutes and it was steaming hot. There was also ample parking around the restaurant. It's exquisite and honestly to be safe to say it's very authentic than other pho I've tasted all over the city so far. I look forward to come here again. We use to frequent Pho 99 when they were located on Blanding. We have since moved closer to the Murray Hill area and they reopened closer to us. Thank goodness because the other two options on the Westside isn't that great. I've had the spring rolls, rice plate, pho and bird's nest from here. All have been delicious. Service can be a hit or miss especially when it comes to refilling waters, but overall really happy with this establishment. read more

I was very disapppointed because I love Vietnamese food. I ordered the chicken and I told them that I would like vegetables with my meal. I received WHITE RICE with Honey Chicken. Everyone was nice but beyond that the service wasn't good. I received no knife to cut my chicken (i had to get up)The Lemonade machine wasn't working. There was NO salad dressing and the waiter did not come back to ask me did I need anything else (i had to get up). I had to get out of my chair to request what I needed. I'm only giving them a one star because the take out lady was nice. My daughter called in a take out order, she ordered 2 bowls of pho, both pho 99 special but hers without tripe. She ate 2 bites and said it tasted weird. I ate mine even though it wasn't that good. The next day I heated up some of hers and ate it then a few hours later I was vomiting and had diarrhea. We have gotten food poisoning from a few other Chinese restaurants over the past years and I know their food is different than pho but we now remember why we stopped ordering take out from most restaurants. I went with the #35 noodle bowl with shrimp. 7 nicely seasoned and grilled shrimp on a bed of warm, bouncy rice noodles covering cool shredded vegetables and a flavorful sauce. A garnish of chopped peanut. What a great combination and set of flavors I also ordered a fresh spring roll tightly rolled with shrimp, shredded pork, noodles, vegetables and herbs.
