Look, everyone has their go to pho spot and I know it's hard to break away from routine. But recently, I was recommended A Bit of Saigon by a friend of mine. When your Vietnamese buddy tells you his favorite spot, you gotta check it out. In an unassuming strip mall you'll find this family owned gem. Their menu is very small. That's usually a sign the food is going to be great. It shows they carefully specialize in each dish. Ordered the banh xeo and a bowl of pho dac biet. The banh xeo was crispy and stuffed with shrimp. The pho broth superior. The tendon was melt in your mouth. I love supporting businesses like this that actually care about the product they serve. I've got my new spot now. Hope yall give em a go.

We came on a Saturday around 1 PM, and though it was quiet at first, the place filled up quickly. It's a simple, toned-down spot without much decor, but it feels genuine and inviting, like stepping into someone's home. We ordered three Pho Saigon bowls (the house special). The broth was flavorful and clearly made from bone broth--rich and not overly reliant on MSG. The sprouts were fresh, and the flavors felt authentic, though the meat includes bones, which may take some getting used to if you're unfamiliar. Personally, I didn't mind; I think it added to the authenticity, but for those who prefer boneless options, you might want to explore other menu items. The protein portions have gotten a bit smaller over the years, likely due to inflation, but the quality is still solid. It's truly a family operation. The "pop" runs the front, taking orders and serving drinks, while the "mom" is in the back cooking up delicious dishes that fill the restaurant with wonderful aromas. If you're looking for an understated spot with a taste of real Saigon, this place is worth the visit.

Cold and fried spring rolls. Pretty good overall.

It was another evening for Loan, Goldie and I to head out to another monthly stop at a chosen local restaurant. This time it was my turn to choose, but Goldie wasn't able to make it but my friend ably took her place! I chose A Bit of Saigon for us and was really looking forward to having some outstanding Vietnamese cuisine again. But unfortunately it turned out to be mostly disappointing. Not sure if the staff was having an off night or what, but I expect far better from a restaurant that's rated four and a half stars on Yelp. The spring rolls of both varieties were pretty average. The fried ones seemed very mushy, more than normal. And aside from the rice noodles in the cold spring rolls, it was a sort of "Where's the beef?" For the rest of the filling. My vermicelli was even worse, especially the meat. It seemed they got my order wrong as it appeared to be beef instead of the chicken version I ordered. In addition, there were a couple of the pieces that were not fully cooked -- I don't eat rare chicken or beef! I felt the service was a little weak. We just didn't connect and I don't think our orders were prepped well in the end. The shop is decent on the interior and pretty clean overall. Wooden tables and chairs are split across both sides of the shop. I think I was gracious to give A Bit of Saigon three stars. It is a restaurant I'm unlikely to visit again. Recommend: MED-LOW

Best pho I had visiting Florida! I am glad my boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place since the first pho place we had was NOT it. I had the pho tai and spring rolls which both were fresh. Our server was friendly and the place was clean. Overall, I had a positive experience and would come back if ever in Jacksonville.

My go-to for PHO!!! (yes, the bean sprouts and basil come on the side) Quite little restaurant that serves great food. Clean, nice staff and large portions, enough for 2 meals.

One of the most authentic and delicious Pho places I've been to. The service was excellent with the gentleman being so kind and attentive. The pricing is great. 10/10 would recommend and definitely coming back.

Friendly family owned restaurant. Menu is pretty straightforward so you don't get overwhelmed by all the options.

My husband and I ate at A Bit of Saigon for breakfast this morning. We ordered the Bún Mêkông and the phô Dac Biet/Saigon bowl. The Bún Mêkông had a very flavourful, seafood broth with some shrimp, octopus, tofu and rare beef. My husband really enjoyed it. He would have liked a little more octopus, but still thought it was very good. I had the phô Dac Biet/Saigon bowl which had a very nice broth with plenty of rare beef, cooked beef, beef balls and a couple of pieces of tendon. It didn't have any tripe although that was in the dish description. That was ok with me as that was the only thing I wasn't really concerned about having in the dish, but someone else might have missed it. The noodles were cooked just perfectly with a little bite when I first tried them. The inside was clean, if a little dimly lit. The server was very friendly and attentive. We would definitely eat here again.

I can't say enough about the Pho here! It's consistently good, crisp clean flavorful broth. The small family feel adds to the quality of food and customer service. If you live in the Kernan and Beach area, this should be a go to staple for you. The bang for your buck with quality!!

$Almost every dish is $13! 2x $14 & 2x $16 If you are like us you are not going to be impressed when you drive up or walk in. You're probably also going to doubt your choice with the service. But if you can ignore our Pampered quasi Chef Ramsay expectations and make your order, sit back and wait for it while you work on Yelp Review, you are going to know you made a good decision. My Bun Mekong was great! Fresh vegetables and herbs, steaming hot broth and good seasons. Look behind the facade of unimpressive surroundings and fancy paintings and you'll find a legitimate Italian Espresso machine. Impressive? No! Romantic? I suppose that depends on your idea of romance. Great prices? Great food? You bet! And the longer you're here the more open and friendly the service becomes. Or maybe it's the warm feeling you'll get from your meal. Either way, a great place for Vietnamese food. I'm giving only because they could improve the service and atmospheres. But the food! Tre Magnifique!

Just came here today for the first time and I enjoyed it immensely. The service was great and the food was top notch. Ambiance was a nice laid back vibe, made better by food that was greatly priced and servings that were excellent. I had the chicken pho with extra meat and I will be back for more soon. Thanks so much, please try them!!

This restaurant has become a local staple throughout the years with its diverse menu and use of fresh ingredients with traditional recipes. The soft-spoken owner welcomes you like a member of the family and is more than happy to answer any questions and offer suggestions based on your preferences. Banana Leaf Asian Bistro caters to various dietary preferences, ensuring that every guest can find something to enjoy. We had a gang meet up that included Goldie, Jimmy, Lea, Loan and myself. We get together each month to try a new restaurant, and of course, to enjoy each other's company. It's been a while since I had a Vietnamese meal and when I go, I'm always stuck on ordering something of the Vermicelli variety. Yep! That's what I did on this day. First off, I have to say that quality of the fresh veggies - lettuce, carrots, cucumber, etc., along with peanuts, were the best in freshness status I've ever seen in just about any restaurant. Between the appearance and the taste, they stand alone in this category. I wasn't worried about having the rolls with this meal, so I chose the B1a - grilled shrimp and pork. As a full bowl, the appearance and quality of the toppings over the noodles was stellar. The pork was chewy, but not in the range of the impossible to deal with. Just something that people who have difficulty chewing might wish to be aware of. There were three large pieces of shrimp that were tasty but a tad overcooked - not enough in any way to drop my score. With the fish sauce mixed, along with the bowl, it turned out to be a fantastic meal! Loan recommended we visit Q-Cup Boba Tea and it was totally worth visit! I will say that Loan's, Goldie's, jimmy's and Lea's offerings looked pretty amazing as well. The sub sandwich and beef cuts on Jimmy's meal looked superb! May have to try that one someday. I'll let them tell you about their meal in their reviews. This is a fantastic ma and pa shop. It's basic in appearance, not the most highly rated in decor. But I'm sure anyone who visits will be happy when they leave. Our server was great - took awesome care of us. I encourage readers to put this restaurant on their bookmarks list! Recommend: HIGH

Their pho is also delicious. On our last visit, we tried their shaken beef but was a tad disappointed with the lack of flavor, we've had better elsewhere. Everything we had was super tasty! Upon walking in, we were greeted immediately and seated. Our waitress and waiter (we had two) were super sweet, attentive, and cheerful. I missed eating home cooked Vietnamese food so we decided to come and enjoy a meal here. Everything was clean (floors, tables, and bathroom). We had the following: Grilled pork summer rolls: 8.5/10 - fresh, bright, and full of veggies, vermicelli, pork, and a crunchy roll inside. It was so delicious! I love summer rolls and this hit the spot! The peanut dipping sauce went so well with the rolls. I loved how the rolls had so many great textures. Pho dac biet (combination): 7.5/10 - the broth was alot more flavorful and it came with a generous amount of meat (beef balls, sliced beef, tripe) and lots of fresh veggies (lime, cilantro, jalapeno, mint, bean sprouts). Last time when we went, the broth was lacking flavor but now, it's pretty good. Beef combo plate w/rice: 8 - the beef was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor! The lemongrass flavor wasn't strong or overpowering and they give you a good amount of beef. It came with white rice and pickled veggies (daikon, cucumber, and carrots) and fish sauce. Again, super flavorful and I actually cleaned the plate! The only small critique was that I thought the meat was going to be like short ribs and the waitress confirmed it was, but it wasn't. Avocado smoothie: 8/10 - I love avocado smoothies and its hard to find a place that makes it right. Here, it was absolutely perfect! The avocado's flavor really shined. Most places would make it way too sweet and you can't taste the avocado. However, I was able to taste the fresh avocado and the sweetness was on point. Overall, I'm super happy about the improvements and will definitely be coming back! Glad there's an authentic Vietnamese restaurant not too far from us now!

If you've been around for a while, you probably remember this spot as the old 90s/2000s lunch place. I was hoping they'd update the inside a bit, maybe rearrange or remodel, but it pretty much looks the same, just with a different cuisine now. One downside was cleanliness. The floors and bathroom could definitely use more attention.
