    Chicken vermicelli

Pretty good dinner, definitely underrated at the current 2.5 stars. I had the vermicelli bowl with chicken, and pork egg rolls. I'm a huge fan of Vietnamese cuisine and it certainly wasn't among the best I've had, but it was satisfying. The egg rolls were crispy, hot, and pretty tasty, but the fish sauce was bland. Needed more of everything (fish, acid, spice). The vermicelli bowl was also decent, although the chicken was spiced with a little too much cinnamon for my liking...and here again, the fish sauce couldn't hold up its end of the bargain. I also had a good boba tea but it didn't arrive until I was halfway through my meal.

Wrong needles w pho hue bo. Extra chrg if want the correct thick noodles.

Was having lunch at this Pho99. 1190 8th Ave New Westminster bc Pho bo hue: I asked for rare beef like I always do in any pho places. In here, it costs extra for "not" having to cook the beef for me. I thought Traditional Bo Hue should always be the thick round noodles by default. This assumption was from the countless pho places that I've been to for the past 2 decades so I was surprised when that wasn't it. The flavor was not bad tho. Anyway, I asked the waiter who went to ask the manager at the back said any exchange of noodles costs extra and their default is the flat skinny noodles. Too bad it was too late because I didn't know so I didn't eat the noodles. Iced Lemon soda was room temperature and non melted sugar settled on the bottom. I called and search for websites of its other locations. They all serve bun bo hue with thick noodles and no extra charge to exchange to rare beef. When it's busy, you need to be patient as it's only one person doing everything out front. I have tried two dishes here. The house pho was good and it was the most beautifully plated rare beef on the side. The lemongrass chicken with rice was decent too. I did like the banana coconut dessert which came with the lunch special. It was not overly sweet and was the perfect portion to round the meal. I didn't like that they charged $0.50 for the take out container which was not stated anywhere. They didn't tell me about the charge before hand too. Street parking is available. The rear parking has only two spots allocated to the restaurant.

It is understandable with the increasing food prices. It wouldn't deter us from coming here :) $15-$16 a bowl is still cheaper than some pho places. I noticed that they changed their interior a bit. They put in more big round tables. As usual, we ordered their special pho that comes with everything! The brisket is braised and it's so good. The broth has nice deep flavor. The portion size is decent. I couldn't finished it myself. If they start serving bahnmi as well, that would be more than perfect.
