If you are looking for a different type of place for breakfast in Tijuana, you will discover the…read morename, Marenca. The Zona Rio location has a small dining area, that is very popular with both the locals and visitors. It is easy to see why. Their menu does not over dose on the standard morning and afternoon items that you would find anyplace. However, this is the first restaurant I've been to in Tijuana, that does not have an English menu.... so I had to labor through the Spanish menu. But, they do have unique dishes, thus making the visit adventurous, because it is difficult to choose. I went back and forth, and finally settled for their 3-egg omelet with asparagus and sheep cheese. It came with refried beans, strings of carrots and beets, small fired up tostadas and fresh tortillas (both blue and yellow corn). A small side of soggy chilaquiles was also served. A small flavorful salsa tray is also provided with 3 options, ranging from mild to hot. The asparagus spears were thin, cut up into small pieces and sautéed with mild spices. The outer egg covering soft and not overdone. If anything, there was too much sheep cheese, in certain portions of the omelet. I say this because it was an asparagus omelet, and it, instead of the cheese, should have been the star. Still, it did not take away from the other commendable aspects of the complete entree and its accompaniments. Before the meal, a small refreshing fruit plate is served. Coffee and overall service here, was mucho excellente.

The food is always fresh and delicious. We've never had an order issue or food quality issue. It's fresh and tasty! I am impressed with the execution of the chicken that comes with the chicken and waffle plate. I'm really picky about the texture and flavor of fried chicken. I was impressed with how the chef's cook it at Camellia's. Who would have known that their Birria would be the star of the restaurant?! It's so flavorful! The food is so good, I've looked over the drink situation. The machine was broken a few times. I came another time after and it was fixed however the execution of the espresso shot was not done well.

After a few laps we finally got lucky. Ambiance- Meh. The dining room was so loud it was hard to have a conversation. We opted for the covered patio, it was much quieter and had a nice breeze. Service: Meh. Started off strong, we were seated immediately, but that's where it ended. Our server didn't ask for my drink order. So after 10 minutes I flagged him down and asked for coffee and a glass of water. He brought them promptly but didn't come around for refills. I had to ask every time. The food arrived promptly but refills and check-ins only happened if we asked. . Food: Meh. I ordered chilaquiles verdes with chicken and house potatoes. The presentation was nice, but they looked better than they tasted. The salsa verde was too salty, and the thin chicken fillet didn't add much. Overall, it was not a bad breakfast but nothing stood out enough to make me want to come back.
