First off coming here on a Friday night place was dead for dinner service. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Service was great. We ordered a regular beef pho and a curry broth pho special. It came out fast and the bowls were gigantic. However, we found it was mostly broth not as much noodles or meat which is fine as the price was reasonable. The flavors were pretty good I would recommend. I really liked the curry beef broth. They have a lot of lunch specials so wanna come back and try it then since it's across from the community college I imagine their lunch would be busier read more

We ordered using GrubHub: tofu banh mi, tofu vegetables and noodles, tofu vegetable soup, and egg rolls (not vegetarian). Everything was delicious. I could eat banh mi every day. I couldn't find a place to indicate "no onions" anywhere on the GrubHub form, so I called Pho 39. Dropped in for dinner on a Friday evening. Interesting environment - kind of dark and divey - but not unwelcoming. We were the only diners there so service was speedy. We had the shrimp salad rolls, the grilled pork bun, and the chicken pho. Huge portions, decent flavor. Maybe a bit light on the 5-spice I lean towards enjoying but that's no diss on Pho 39. When I walked in here, it was completely empty! After eating I could not understand why. First of all, the service was a 10/10, both ladies that helped me were incredibly kind! I ordered the beef vermicelli bowl and it was quite delicious. It was a huge portion too, I had to pack up the rest to go! sadly, i did not have a positive experience here, in spite of the kind and friendly service. i forgot to pack my lunch for school, so i popped into Phó 39 for an order of fresh pork rolls in between classes. after i ordered, i waited at a table while reviewing my notes for class. once the server brought my order out, i stood and started packing up my stuff to leave. just as i was about to walk away from the table, i saw a roach come up from under the table somewhere and skitter across the tabletop. i was in shock and wasn't sure of what to do. i've never seen anything like this before. i was on a tight schedule, so i just left without saying anything or requesting a refund. after doing some quick research on the walk back (to school to see if my food could still be safe to eat), i found it best to toss my rolls in the trash. it's really unfortunate since this is the closest restaurant to my classes, but i won't be returning. read more

This place had the best pho in town when they opened several years ago with new ownership. The pho broth was rich and so much better than Pho Oregon/Da lot/ Kim.... The menu options had fatty brisket, which is now missing. Now, the pho is very different. It tastes like Quoc Viet instant pho. Now, there is nothing special about the broth. It tastes like it comes from a package. The owner, the man, is a little overly aggressive when he takes your order. He'll get really close to your table and intensely making eye-contact while asking you if you're ready. Yesterday I went in with a friend and ordered a special vermicelli bowl. All the meat was very tough and tasted old like it had been cooked from a frozen state. So sad. It was such a luxury to stay in this neighborhood instead of driving all the way out to 82nd for good Vietnamese food. read more

Casual pho place, quiet on the day I went but service was friendly and quick. I ordered the lemongrass beef vermicelli bowl. I have had many vermicelli bowls before and this was not what I would expect. I expected a grilled piece of flank steak or similar and the pickled veggies, fresh greens and peanuts. What I got was the vermicelli which honestly looked and tasted like spaghetti noodles not vermicelli and a stir fry of beef, cabbage, onions and broccoli on top with some greens and the fish sauce. I was very disappointed and the flavors did not go together and it made this usually light meal very heavy and it did not work. I did not eat more than a few bites. Man this place was GOOD. Not only was the tofu Banh mi out of this world, but the vegan pho actually made me a fan of pho (after poor/lackluster experiences elsewhere). It's a dingy looking place from the outside but don't let the boarded up spray painted door and cracked glass fool you, there is delicious food to be had and inside is clean. The days of the $6 banh mi are gone (and I'm afraid they are never coming back) they are currently 8.50, but I opted for the special which was a mix of the chicken pork and beef mixed up in a sweet spicy sauce. Fresh cilantro and jalapeño added nice freshness and heat. The bread was also the best, toasted perfectly crunchy but soft and not crumbly. I tried their salt & pepper squid special which would have been good - the breading and flavor was nice - if they didn't use the frozen calamari rings and had actual fresh squid. They also have an extensive pho menu, and I like that they have lots of cuts like tendon & tripe as well as the standard cuts. I also want to try their special curry noodles. This place used to be Pho Jasmine, and I used to go there a lot when I lived nearby. I hadn't been there since it changed to Pho 39. But my daughter and I went the other day and first of all, Great customer service! The building is an older building and the inside is okay, pretty empty, and then a few people started coming. Classic Vietnamese decorations. The food is amazing, the beef banh mi was sooo good. And the pho was flavorful and warm and really healed a hangover. lol- but they had the best noodles in the pho. I need to find out what kind of noodles they use specifically so that I can get them when I make Pho at home. I've never had a super thin pho noodle like that and they had the perfect texture and chewiness and seemed to hold onto the broth. I also had some veggie egg rolls; those were also really good. I will always go back there. Like they say, some of the best Pho restaurants end in a number. lol I wish I took pics but we were too into the food. read more

Love this spot for their affordable and delish Bahn Mi. Came here with a friend a couple weeks ago and was impressed by the quality of their sandwiches and fresh rolls. It is a new restaurant and is very unassuming from the outside but is super yummy on the inside. Their Bahn mi costs 7-8 bucks which is the best prices I have seen in a long time.
