Northwest Park is a complex is made up of five baseball/softball fields off of North A St. The fields are T-ball field, Pinto field, Pony field, Colt field, Lassie field. The park also has picnic tables, restrooms, concession stand, and a playground. Northwest Park is a popular spot for Little League games and community events. The spacious layout makes it ideal for multiple sports games at once. The fields and park appeared to be clean and well maintained. The Lake Worth Youth League, Lake Worth Girls Softball League, and Lake Worth High School schedule the use of the fields.

This is a huge district/county park -- about 70 acres. It was easy to find with clear signage just…read morenorth of the Costco. There's lots of open land, lots of trees, and a wealth of activity areas including a water park. When we stopped by on a rainy afternoon, there weren't many people in the park at all. Some of the many activity areas include: Half a dozen baseball fields, a couple softball fields, a few multi purpose fields, and a playground for the little ones with various structures. None of the fields were occupied when we were there. And then there are the picnic areas -- some tables with grills. And even a picnic pavilion that is good for groups. It can be rented. Plus on top of all this -- a water park.The Calypso Bay Waterpark even has its own entrance. There's an entrance fee for this seasonal park. There's a lap pool, river ride, water slide, and a water "playground". Prices to enter depend on one's age. It was closed when we dropped by. I think it reopens in March, but call for dates before you come. This water park would be perfect for swimming lessons and/or kids birthday parties. This big park must really be busy in spring/summer. And when the ball games are being played. There are a plethora of parking spaces! It seemed a bit eerie to drive by all the empty spaces the day we came.

This park is open every day from sunrise until sunset. Seminole Palms Park amenities include 6 lighted baseball fields, 2 lighted softball fields, 3 multipurpose fields, picnic pavilions and picnic tables with grills, restrooms, and playground. The park is also home to the Calypso Bay Waterpark which has an interactive water playground, lap pool, lazy river, 2 water slides, and food concession. Sports field parks are not my personal favorite kind of park but Seminole Palms is beautifully maintained and provides a great recreations resource for the many sports teams in the area. The water park looks very family friendly for anyone looking to cool down on a hot day. Come out this park to enjoy the athletic fields, picnic areas, playground, and the seasonal water park.

In the 1970's Robert "Bob" P. Miller stood up for the Little League baseball players of Delray…read moreBeach. He petitioned Mayor Jack Saunders and the City Commission for a regulation size, lighted little league baseball field because Delray Beach was the only city at the time between Vero Beach and Key West that didn't have one. Taking his request under consideration, the mayor and commission appointed Bob to be the chairman of a committee to research and start the process of building the field. Committee member Ken Ellingsworth helped the city apply for the Bicentennial Grant for $250,000, the largest grant ever given in the State of Florida. With the grant they were able to purchase the property near the transfer station off SW 4th Ave. The county helped build the park and a field called "Little Fenway", a replica of Fenway Park and it's "Green Monster", the left field wall in Fenway in Boston, Massachusetts. The committee voted to name the new park after the man who started it all, Robert P. Miller. Bob wasn't done yet though. One field wasn't enough for all of the kids to play baseball in Delray Beach. He went back to the city commission and mayor and got them to add more fields to the park. The last field added to the park was Sergio Field, named after another longtime city resident and employee Fred Sergio. Bucky Dent's Baseball School, now the Elev 8 Sports Institute moved into the south end of the park and helps maintain the fields. Today Robert P. Miller Park has been renovated and reconfigured to include three new little league fields, one major league field, two-story concession stand/press box building, Miracle League Field and concession stand building, four batting cages, major league practice infield, 3-bay storage building, new pavilion and pitching and hitting wall area. The original playground was relocated; additional parking was added, and the fencing and play surface on Little Fenway at the North end of the park was replaced. Until accidentally stumbling upon this park I had no idea this kids baseball dream existed next to the railroad tracks. What a wonderful resource for the baseball lovers of Delray Beach and all thanks to Bob Miller who wanted to make a place for the Little Leagues to play in the city he loved.

Merritt Park is a multi-ethnic neighborhood in the southwest corridor of Delray Beach. It is south…read moreof Atlantic Ave and can accessed from Swinton Boulevard.. The park was named for the neighborhood and it was built in the early 1960's to provide recreation for children residing in the immediate area. Merritt Park is enclosed with a chain link fence. Park amenities include two lighted softball fields, stadium bleachers, 2 half-court basketball courts, playground, field, and restrooms. While the field is very popular for athletic games, the playground is rather basic and showing its age. To make the park more attractive to children the city has added a brand new ninja style course called ELEVATE by Burke. The course uses different obstacles to get you in shape and can be used individually or by teams. You can make the course even more challenging by incorporating burpees, jumps, and sprints. To learn how to use the equipment you can watch tutorial videos at bciburke.com/elevate. There are also directions on the backside of the sign in the park. I love these new ninja style courses that I have seen being added to parks and make exercise more fun. None of the kids were on the dated playground. Instead they were all on the inviting ninja course climbing and jumping and having a blast.

The complex has 4 very well maintained baseball diamonds with some nice scoreboards. There is also a batting cage near the parking area and picnic tables in the grass. The complex hosts mostly leagues and tournaments and is equipped with an announcer's booth, spectator seating, restrooms and concession stands. As I mentioned, this complex is very well maintained and is college field quality. It is a nice place to not only play baseball, but to watch it.

Park amenities include a shade covered playground, covered basketball court, three sports fields, concession stand, dog run, exercise path, and disc golf. There is also a building that can be rented for meetings, special events, classes, and private parties. There is a plenty of parking for the recreational leagues. I was surprised at how nicely kept this park is. On the day I visited there were several teams using the fields, a group of people enjoying the shade covered basketball courts, and another group playing disc golf. I walked around for exercise and checked out the wildlife near the water. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again but if you live in the neighborhood this is a wonderful recreational amenity to have.

My nephew Jack plays here 3 days a week for a little league baseball team. He used to be on a soccer league here too a few years back that practices on the football field. They have a concession stand that is open during games that takes cash only. The park is kept pretty clean and the bathrooms are usually decent enough to use for a public park. There is plenty of parking in the lot. Most of the people that use this park either live in the neighborhood or just take their kids there for games etc. It's an ok park nothing special really.

The Wimberly Athletic Complex is a park in the industrial warehouse section of Oakland Park. It was…read morenamed in honor of Harry L. Wimberly, one of the most beloved and dedicated public servants to the City of Oakland Park. His grandparents moved to area in the 1920's where they made their living as vegetable farmers. Harry began his career in Oakland Park by mowing lawns for the City. For the next 40 years he worked in various positions where he led a team of City employees responsible for streets and building maintenance, parks and roads, solid waste, water, stormwater, wastewater, and garage operations. Harry was known as being willing to do any job needed. He became the City's Recreation Director when the parks and recreation departments were combined and retired as the Director of Public Works in 1996. Harry is perhaps most well known for for helping organize the City's first Youth Day celebration in 1957. Youth Day continues to live on with Broward County's longest-running parade and it is still held every year at the park. Today the City of Oakland Park's youth enjoys all that Harry Wimberly put into the city at the Wimberly Athletic Complex. Park amenities include a baseball/softball diamond, concession stand, football field, and hockey rink. Just south of Wimberly Park is the brand New City Park which opened in 2022 and has lighted basketball court, pickleball courts, a woodland themed playground with shade cover, splash pad, and restrooms. Harry Wimberly loved the children of Oakland Park and he was devoted to making it the best city it could be. It is fitting that such an important gathering place and recreational resource in the community carries his name.

There wasn't a lot of parking close by the playground, only street parking nearby. There might be more parking by the baseball fields. We have been to a lot of parks and this one could have been more creative with the space.

Lance Corporal Justin Wilson of Palm City was a Marine killed by a roadside bomb in the Helmand…read moreprovince, in March 2010. He was only 24 when he died. When his body was brought home hundreds of people in the community stood on the Palm City Bridge with flags. The park was renamed in his honor in September of that same year and there is a memorial to his sacrifice in the park. He was laid to rest with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery. Park amenities include four playgrounds, tennis, racquetball, and basketball courts, athletic fields and picnic pavilions with grills. I really liked how nicely maintained this park was. My favorite part of the park was the wetlands nature trail with a boardwalk and observation deck. I saw a little marsh rabbit hopping around on the trail.
