It's named after Mary Brandon, a local politician who served on the city's Parks and Recreation Commission in the 1960s. Established in 1999, this park holds the distinction of being the first dog park in the City of West Palm Beach. It features two separate fenced areas--one for small dogs (25 pounds and under) and another for larger dogs. Amenities include dog-friendly water fountains, play tunnels, as well as plenty of chairs, benches, and tables for owners to relax. In July 2019, the city unveiled a brand-new playground, replacing older equipment with updated, shade-covered slides and climbing structures. In addition to the dog park and playground, the park also offers picnic pavilions, a baseball field, restrooms, and a large open green space that's perfect for running around or getting some exercise. I really appreciate how the city created a space that caters to both kids and dogs. It's a welcoming, versatile park that serves the neighborhood well--perfect for a casual afternoon outdoors. I'd definitely come back, especially if I brought my dog or just wanted a quiet place to unwind outside for a while.

There is a nice playground area with a structure, benches, a softball field, a basketball court, a walking path, and open grass to run around in. For the pet owner, there are two dog "parks"/dog run areas for differing size dogs that are fenced in. When we stopped by, there was only one other car parked in the lot. It was lovely weather so I was surprised that more people were not taking advantage of the first sunny day in a while. There are some large old trees providing shade, too. We'd be here often if we lived in the neighborhood.

And their kids all running around playing together. It was beautiful. Big dog park too. Only bummer was the baseball field nearby was locked up. The park is right north/next to the Riker Athletic Campus -- part of the Palm Beach Atlantic College (not FAU). And I don't think most of the families using this park even question how it was named or care. You can google or go to Wikipedia for this information. When we stopped by everything was so vibrantly green -- including a large grassy "sports" area where two guys were practicing their soccer kicks. The park has many amenities -- both a bike and walking path (paved), a children's playground, toilet facilities and a water fountain. The most appealing area to me was the splash pad. There were some interesting trees with a bit of shade. I especially liked that there were picnic tables and benches throughout so parents could watch their kids. The park is open sunrise to sunset. Glad we stopped to check it out.

The main reason to come to this park is the large covered playground with swings, slides, and climbing structures. There are also benches in this area. My favorite part of the park is the paved loop path where you can stroll or exercise. I love that the water fountain in this park has a bowl for pups. Pets are allowed as long as they are on a leash. The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset. Note that there are no restrooms available here.

They have a lot of classes and programs and after care. They got a lot of improvements due to a 2020 Parks Bond Referendum. The former beach house that was in poor shape - the old tennis center. 2020, saw new heights - city did it! a new $2 million tennis center and tennis courts that has the South Florida Tennis Program. And there are a ton of tennis players here all the time. It is great to have this park in West Palm Beach! So thank you very much!

The South Olive Park and Community Center has many family friendly amenities. The South Olive Community Center provides classes and programs for the south end of Palm Beach as well as after school care. There is also a really fun looking splash pad for the kids. Much needed improvements to the park were provided by a 2020 Parks Bond Referendum. The old tennis center was a former beach house that had been moved to the park and had been in disrepair for years. In 2020, the city broke ground on a 2 million dollar tennis center and tennis courts that host the South Florida Tennis Program. Hundreds of tennis players are drawn to the courts each week. South Olive Park is a great place to take the kids to play or cool off on a hot day but more than that the tennis and community center anchor the community and bring people together for education and recreation. This park is a treasure for the south end.

Some residents weren't too happy to have a park named after someone they considered an outsider. Petty used $750,000 of his money to start the Good Neighbor Council, a group that focused on fighting noise from the airport. The park is a strip of land in the historic 1920's Prospect Park neighborhood that runs from Washington Ave to the Intracoastal. This park used to sit directly under the flight path of planes traveling to and from West Palm Beach Airport. As a result take offs and landings were fanned over the city instead of concentrated over this one neighborhood. This park does not have a parking lot, you have to park on the street, It does have a small playground and benches but it's best amenity is the view of the Intracoastal. You can see Mar-a-Lago is across from the park along with other Palm Beach mansions. The houses in this neighborhood aren't too shabby either. The neighborhood is a cool place to admire 1920's architecture and the park gives a great view of the water.

Lake Clarke Shores is a small residential town in Palm Beach County. It was founded by John Newton…read moreClarke who arrived in Lake Worth in 1889. He worked various jobs before establishing a homestead and fishing camp. Lake Clarke bears his name. The land was developed into a town when West Palm Beach attorney William Travers purchased land that became exposed when the waters of Lake Clarke fell. He developed the land and sold lots and by 1956 there were 150 registered voters living in the area. The town was fearful of being annexed into West Palm Beach so in 1957 they voted to incorporate themselves as the town of Lake Clarke Shores. Town Hall is one of five parks in Lake Clarke Shores and it reflects the family friendly vibe of this small town. It was funded with money from the Florida Recreation Department Assistance Program and built with assistance from town volunteers. Park amenities include a tot playground and one for older children, two tennis courts, a covered pavilion which can be reserved, grill, bathrooms and my favorite part of the park, a walking trail and butterfly garden. This park is a great option for families to play, cook out, and enjoy nature. An added bonus is that Town Hall Park is located right behind the police station for added safety.

This park is still awesome!…read more It is hidden inside of a gated community- the residential part of the city of Atlantis- but the gate just lets everyone in no matter what. However, being hidden isn't a bad thing! I love the seclusion here and the relative safety of a park that is surrounded by residences (which deters random people from loitering in the park). The splash pad is broken, but the other elements are spot on: playground equipment, swings, lots of white sand for digging around in, great climbing tree at the front, pickleball/tennis courts, a covered pavilion with several tables, a basketball court, and bathrooms. Plus, it's completely gated, with a grassy area in the back for running or playing. I can chill here while my kids wander and play with relative freedom within the gated park. We have a kid friend who doesn't like to be in big crowds of kids, so this almost always quiet playground is perfect for him. Parking is very limited, but often there are no cars here at all.

This 4.1 acre neighborhood park in West Palm Beach was named in honor of Judge Curtis Chillingworth…read morewho was presumed murdered along with his wife Marjorie in 1955. The story of Judge Chillingworth is a fascinating unsolved mystery. In 1921 after serving in the Navy in WWI, Chillingworth came back to West Palm Beach to practice law with his father. He became a county judge at the age of 24. In 1923 he became the newly elected circuit judge in 1923, holding the position for thirty-two years until his disappearance in 1955 at the age of 58. At the time he and his wife Marjorie, 57, were splitting their time between a winter home in West Palm Beach and a summer beach home in nearby Manalapan. The last time the couple were seen alive was at a dinner party on the evening of June 14, 1955. The next day the couple were supposed to meet with a carpenter to build a playground for their grandchildren but they never showed up for the meeting. Inside the house there were bloodstains on the stairs. The police believed the Chillingworth's were kidnapped but the case went cold for 5 years. The mystery began to unravel in 1959 when the people involved began talking. Eventually it was learned that Floyd Holzapfel, a West Palm Beach garage attendant and a pool room operator named Bobby Lincoln murdered the couple in a plan masterminded by corrupt Municipal Judge Joseph A. Peel. Holzapfel eventually confessed the plot. Peel had been accepting bribes and offering protection to criminals. When Judge Chillingworth found out he started making plans to have Peel disbarred. To prevent that from happening Peel orchestrated Chillingworth's murder. It was believed the couple was taken out of the secluded Manalapan house in the middle of the night, driven out to sea, and thrown overboard. Before they drowned the couples last words were of love to each other. Their bodies were never recovered. When it went to trial Lincoln got immunity for his testimony, Holzapfel was sentenced to life in prison, and Peel served 21 years for the crime before dying of cancer 9 days after his release. Upon his deathbed, Peel confessed to the crime. Chillingworth Park is located at Ware Drive and Erie Place between Okeechobee Blvd. and Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. The park is surrounded by homes with walking entry to the park from S. Chillingworth Drive. Park amenities include a paved walkway, pavilion, gazebo, playground, exercise path, basketball court, open play area, and tennis court. In 2019 Chillingworth Park received a new playground. I already knew the sad story of Judge Chillingworth so it was interesting to discover the park that bears his name. The park is very pretty and the only thing it lacks is a restroom. Even though the Chillingworth's were robbed of time with their own grandchildren I think they would be pleased to know that children today are enjoying the park that bears their name.

This is a cute park in the Historic College Park District of Lake Worth. It is on the south side of…read morea canal that separates West Palm Beach and Lake Worth. The park was built in 1987 by the South Florida Water Management District which owns it. It has long been a popular place to fish for snook where the water flows through the spillway gates. In 2011 grills, picnic tables, and a path were added to the park. Funds for the project were raised by the neighborhood and from a partnership with the Lake Worth Public Services Department. In 2017 The South Florida Water Management District added a new fence to make it safer to fish. In addition to fishing there is a large lawn that seems popular with people looking to exercise their dogs. The water attracts a lot of birds and lizards make it a nice place to nature watch and take photos.
