It's named after Mary Brandon, a local politician who served on the city's Parks and Recreation Commission in the 1960s. Established in 1999, this park holds the distinction of being the first dog park in the City of West Palm Beach. It features two separate fenced areas--one for small dogs (25 pounds and under) and another for larger dogs. Amenities include dog-friendly water fountains, play tunnels, as well as plenty of chairs, benches, and tables for owners to relax. In July 2019, the city unveiled a brand-new playground, replacing older equipment with updated, shade-covered slides and climbing structures. In addition to the dog park and playground, the park also offers picnic pavilions, a baseball field, restrooms, and a large open green space that's perfect for running around or getting some exercise. I really appreciate how the city created a space that caters to both kids and dogs. It's a welcoming, versatile park that serves the neighborhood well--perfect for a casual afternoon outdoors. I'd definitely come back, especially if I brought my dog or just wanted a quiet place to unwind outside for a while.

There is a nice playground area with a structure, benches, a softball field, a basketball court, a walking path, and open grass to run around in. For the pet owner, there are two dog "parks"/dog run areas for differing size dogs that are fenced in. When we stopped by, there was only one other car parked in the lot. It was lovely weather so I was surprised that more people were not taking advantage of the first sunny day in a while. There are some large old trees providing shade, too. It's located inside of Okeeheelee park and it's best to go to the west entrance for a quicker route. There are two areas - one for small and the other for larger dogs. The small is for 30 pounds and under and we went there since our puppy is a mini dachshund. Since it was his first time at a park, he was a little nervous at first, but he warmed up once he was there for a little while. Both of the areas are big with shaded areas and offer plenty of bags as well as water fountains for the fur babies and humans. It's best to go when it's not so hot out, which is in the early morning or late afternoon. The weather is a little more bearable in the fall and winter oppose to the spring and summer. Bring extra water and a toy/ball for fetch since there's plenty of room to run around.

She was brought into the VET ER today after she was playing in the bushes hunting and came face to face with an extremely deadly and dangerous Bufo toad. EXTREMELY TOXIC TO ALL DOGS. She was having horrible seizures, foaming at the mouth and hyperventilating. If I wasn't watching her at this "Safe & Fanced in" dog park she would've died. I know there's very little you can do about them showing up. But just the simple fact it lives there, probably 20 dogs came in a out in that hour I was there is extremely dangerous. WATCH YOUR PET. Digital pay for personal song choice jukebox, but plenty of songs playing for free. Just a really unique brew location. Free street parking but is tight when busy though. The owners Rob and Russell are two great guys so stop in and say hi. They partner up with dog shelters and themed events. Spotless bathrooms too. Great place 5 stars easy.

The grounds are clean, there's a doggy water fountain and an adjacent park with skateboard access. The sitting area for the humans is in the shade and along the fence giving the dogs even more room. Once another dog arrived, they both played and ran to their hearts content while I spoke with the other owner. I was slightly concerned with the height of the fence but I'm sure now that it's a good height and safe for the dogs. All in all, I'd recommend this park. It's in a residential area across from a school. Lulu and I shall be returning soon!!

Fair amount of people (not "just" a dog beach), and as stated previously, never A LOT of dogs. Doesn't feel packed like other dog beaches, and no designated "times" or days for the dog beach (unlike the dog beach at Spanish River Park in Boca). Most people seem aware of their surroundings, but of course you'll meet a difficult owner or nasty dog every now and again. Overall I haven't had any problems (that often come with off-leash areas). Parking seems easy to find no matter what time of the day (couple of parking lots, and lots of street parking), and is FREE!! The water is usually clean and free of seaweed and sea pests. Really enjoy this dog beach!

The gated entry/leash area is large and makes it easy to get leash on/off prior to entering the park. There are lots of hoses and water stations for the pups. There is also a lot of shade throughout. I went with my lab Cocoa, my mom, her 7 month old golden Auggie, and two of my kids. When I realized how many dogs were present I decided not to go into the actual dog park because my dog is overwhelmed in that situation, and I didn't think bringing small children inside was a fantastic idea. My mom's pup got some great energy out playing with all the big dogs. My kids, Cocoa, and I walked around the remainder of the park. There is a giant Ficus tree providing tons of shade (great picnic spot). We followed the path around the lake, which was also very nicely shaded. Parking was easy to find.

I loved that it offers so many activities in one place--kayaking, paddleboarding, the beach, picnic areas, a gift shop, and educational exhibits--all at very reasonable prices. Parking was only $5, and the kayak and paddleboard rentals were affordable too. Unfortunately, I happened to visit on a day with an extremely low tide. Paddleboard rentals were suspended, but kayak rentals were still available. The staff did warn us about the low tide and advised us to stay near the edges to avoid getting stuck. However, as someone new to kayaking, I didn't realize just how much the tide would impact the experience. For a large portion of our trip, the water was so shallow that our kayaks constantly got stuck. We had to repeatedly get out and drag them through the water. At times, the water wasn't even ankle deep. I completely understand that the staff can't control the tides, but I honestly wish kayak rentals had also been paused that day because the conditions made it difficult to really enjoy the experience. By the time we finished kayaking, we were exhausted and felt pretty gross from walking through the murky water, so we ended up skipping the beach altogether. Outside of that, the park itself looked lovely. There was a nice picnic area, a cute gift shop, and they even had a rescued sea turtle with a volunteer sharing information about sea turtle conservation, which was a really nice touch. There also appeared to be several educational exhibits throughout the park, although they happened to be closed during our visit. One downside was a pretty unpleasant smell near the gift shop, but I'm guessing that may have also been related to the unusually low tide. Despite my experience, I haven't written the park off. The photos I've seen online make it look absolutely beautiful, and I think we were just unlucky with the timing. I'd definitely consider coming back on a day with higher water levels to give it another chance. It sounds like a great park overall--I just recommend checking the tide conditions before planning to kayak or paddleboard so you can enjoy it at its best.

It's usually not too crowded. This is where we would go to see sea turtles laying eggs. And that continues to this day. It's a great location and a beautiful park.
