While running some errands I was looking for a park to get some steps in and I found the lovely six acre Orchard View. It is sandwiched between Orchard View Elementary School and a Delray Fire Station.
Orchard View Park was dedicated on September 2, 2000. The land for this park was formerly known as Blood's Hammock Groves. The city of Delray Beach purchased the land from the Blood Family in order to create the park. You can still see many of the orchard's original trees which provide shade for the park.
Orchard Park has a lot of great amenities which include six picnic pavilions, barbecue grills, a recently renovated playground with swings, climbing structures, and slides, the walking trail I enjoyed, a drinking fountain, restrooms and a parking lot that will hold 25 cars. Located off of busy west Atlantic Avenue this park was a great find and is well worth a visit if you are in the area. read more
