Duck day

Oh, it's an absolutely wonderful and beautiful place, you take a walk. It's mother nature at its best. You take every step and you see something new, it is so nice just to walk around and enjoy the outdoors. It's for all ages very safe, nice and clean, and just a beautiful way to relax listen to music in your ears and enjoy mother nature outside.

Green Cay is the perfect place for people and children of all ages. I cannot believe I have lived in this area my entire life and have never been until recently! For starters, they have an air conditioned information center. It has information about the area, some animal habitats set up, and even a few animals for viewing! It was very cool to start here and learn a little more about the park before walking. It's also a nice place to end on a hot day! The walk itself is incredible. There is a surprising amount of wildlife here and it is wonderful to see them in their natural habitat. The entire path is a boardwalk, so it is stroller friendly and safe. They also have QR codes along the path to teach you about the different areas, wildlife, and plants you may encounter. Half of the boardwalk is shaded, but half is also in direct sunlight. Be sure to wear a hat or bring sunscreen, especially if you have little ones. I suggest visiting early in the morning if it your first time. Enjoy!

I'm so fortunate to live so close to the Green Cay Wetlands, it's a treasure! The boardwalk is shady and there are many spots with areas to sit and take in the beautiful scenery. The nature center offers walks, naturalist, events for seniors & children, a gift shop, clean restrooms, lots of parking, racks for bicycles, and water fountains. There are many markers to tell us about the fauna and flora here. The sounds of the birds and the wrestling of the shrubs feel like I'm in the middle of the Everglades not across the street from Publix. Coming to the wetlands is truly a free mini vacation.

This is a nice low-key wetlands area right in Boynton Beach. If you get there early in the morning, you can beat the crowds. Green Cay is a free park with a 1 mile boardwalk around the wetlands. Plenty of birds, alligators, turtles and fish. The boardwalk and the entire park is super well maintained and clean. Loved taking my kids here when they were little. We used to go "Gator hunting". Now I just enjoy grabbing a coffee and taking a nice walk. Although I have to admit, I still like gator hunting and it's always a score when you spot one or two!

My family and I went to Green Cay for the first time and were in awe of this sensational preserve in the middle of Boynton Beach. So scenic and peaceful and a haven for nature lovers. Perfect place to capture photography or paint a picture. Walkways are planked and handicapped accessible. My husband was on his Drive scooter which was so easy to maneuver. This is also a great place to take a walk. The route is basically a mile circle. We saw alligators and a wide variety of birds. Saw a group of children on a class trip. So much beauty in our world!

Green Cay Wetlands is an absolute gem in my eyes! I cannot believe that this nature center is completely free with the different tank displays of frogs, gators, turtles, rescued birds/an owl, and educational information everywhere. The boardwalk itself is incredibly nice and kept well. What I also love is the local teeming wildlife. If you're lucky, you'll see a gator like we did! There's also wild turtles, different bird varieties, iguanas, bunnies, etc. Everyone on staff is also super nice and helpful if you have any questions about the wetlands or the locals that live within them! I had a great time here and it quickly became my morning walk every morning, because I couldn't get enough. If you're in Boynton Beach... this is the spot to stop into and stroll around/take your time! It's worth it!

Such a wonderful place for walking, birding, bringing visitors to take a glimpse of all the natural beauty in Florida. Many beautiful birds and wildlife and all native species of plants. Two boardwalks one 1 mile the other 1/2, to get an elevated view of all the great interesting action going on beneath. Great for kids and adults of all ages. There is a scavenger hunt for kids and a reasonably priced gift shop, indoor exhibits also. Alligators, bunnies and egrets. Not to mention the most friendly helpful staff around. It's certainly a place to see.

Great family friendly environment I would consider this a hidden gem I didn't see any no dogs allow signs so if you would like to go on a nice walk with you best friend. I would recommend this trail. Beautiful out door there's a bridge so your close enough to admire nature but not close enough to get snatched by a gator . Also great to bring the kids my little one enjoyed the trail . I'll recommend bringing water bottles and a hat if you have fair skin sunscreen a must have . There's sitting area with resting area/Little tiki cabanas so if even grandma wants to go for a walk she has plenty of stops to rest .

What a great way to spend the day entertaining out of town guests! It's free too! They have no admission charge. There is also plenty of free parking. Lots of boardwalk greets you nestled among wetlands full of colorful wildlife! Wear sunscreen as many areas are not shaded. We wore our masks too since it was pretty crowded. Alligators were laying out on the grass below the boardwalk sunning themselves. Lots of various bird species and swimming turtles were present. Even a butterfly garden was noticed. Checkee Huts were present every now and then for resting in the shade. The area is lush with beautiful vegetation. There were two trails to follow. One was a mile and the other a half a mile. We took the longer route. We highly recommend this fun way to spend the day with guests.

Wakodahatchee Wetlands is packed with wildlife,…read moreand the boardwalk trail makes it easy to soak it all in without disturbing the natural habitat. On my recent visit, there were so many wood storks nesting!! I spotted babies peeking out of nests, along with adults perched on eggs. It felt like stepping into a real-life nature documentary. Beyond the storks, I also saw a marsh rabbit, anhingas, several types of ducks, and even a Great Blue Heron just casually doing its thing. What makes this spot even cooler is that the wetlands are man-made, but they've become a thriving ecosystem--proof that nature finds a way when given the chance. It's free to visit, and there's plenty of parking. Even when it looks full, just be patient--spots open up quickly with people coming and going. The full loop is about ¾ of a mile, with a few covered seating areas along the way if you want to pause and take it all in. Definitely wear a hat, bring water, and don't forget your camera--you'll want it. If you live in or are visiting Palm Beach County, this is 100% worth checking out. Peaceful, scenic, and full of surprises!

This is a new playground between the Children's School House Museum and City Hall. It was called…read morethe Kids Kingdom because old playground had a castle structure that was built in 1996. It was a great playground and my daughter used to play on it when she was a child. Through the years the playground began to decay and it become dangerous with nails sticking out of the wood. When the old playground was demolished part of the castle structure was saved and moved to another playground. The new playground is part of the 16 acre Town Square project, a mixed use development that will include town hall, library, fire station, cultural venter, children's museum, amphitheater, green space, public art, and much more. The new playground was designed to make it easier for parents to keep an eye on their kids, something that was difficult in the old playground. The playground has climbing structures and slides. I especially love the large butterfly wings and grasses that are inspired by nature. The kids looked like they were having a blast today on the playground during the Pirate and Mermaid Festival. When they redid the park I'm glad they decided to save the large Kapok tree which provides much needed shade.

(I don't like writing negative reviews, but this constructive criticism below hopefully can help…read moreimprove this playground one day). I was so excited to check out this newly built playground, and I could not have been more disappointed. There is just no way this playground was planned with input from experts or parents :( One of the main problems is that this 1 playground is actually separated into 2 playgrounds, 1 for younger children and one for older children. This would be fine if they were adjacent, but they are not; in fact, one playground cannot be seen from the other! Instead they are separated by a sidewalk (not fenced in and completely open to the road,) and due to a tall building and a slight corner turn, there is no way to see one playground from the other playground and vice versa. Therefore, 1 parent or caretaker cannot separate different aged children and watch both at the same time. Thus, the little playground is empty - because there is nothing here for older kids to do, while the older kid playground is chock full of little children, who are stuck with their older siblings. Not only are the littles using playground equiptment that is too old for them, several spinning apparatus consistently knocked over the younger kids once the piece started spinning. Also, the little playground is a bigger space than the older kids playground, despite all the kids being on the bid kid playground. Parent seating: there is no place for parents inside the fenced playground. There are benches placed outside of the fence for the parents, which is a terrible terrible practice. Now kids are falling over crying and their parents are on a bench outside of the playground. Lack of gate signs: The entrances to the gate of the playground are unmarked. Not a single sign or indicator or where or how to open the playground gate doors. Thus, it is very difficult to get in if you are a parent sitting on an outside bench, because the entire gate looks the same. Lack of signage: there are no signs on the little playground that faces the adjacent playground that indicates: name of playground, what the hours of the playground are, etc. Nothing! considering that the playground fence is physically attached to the back of the Old School Museum building, it is very unclear that this is in fact a public playground open to anyone, instead of a privately owned playspace. Also, there are no signs at each individual playground sharing the info that the other playground is around the corner. More poor planning: inside the big kids playground is a fenced storage area. This is not for kids, but for some reason it is actually inside of their fenced in playground. This makes absolutely no sense. Presumable some non-kid-friendly items live inside here, perhaps a trash bin or tools or chemicals? It would be so so easy for bored kids to climb this fence and go inside, or for someone to leave the door cracked or unlocked. I have never ever seen such strange planning for adult equipment to be kept inside a play space for kids. This playground is across from city hall and adjacent to municipal buildings, yet the only place for this hazardous stuff is inside the playground? Poor equipment: this playground may have been only a year old and already there is rust marks on most of the climbing material, one of the 2 very popular spinning pieces are broken. Also, the equipment is just not that fun. Having so many individual play pieces causes frustration and competition amongst the kids, and it would have made more sense to have communal pieces. This has to be some of the worst and unimaginitive play pieces I've seen of any playgrounds ever. And, no swings. And more: Lots of empty space inside, with zero nature, no trees or anything and no shade at all either.
