The neighborhood has gotten a lot of improvements recently including upgraded streets, sidewalks, and alleys along with improvements to this park. Currie Commons Park was named in honor of George Graham Currie. There is a another park named for him in West Palm Beach. Currie was a native of Quebec. When he arrived in Florida he was penniless but he became a lawyer, made money, and then lost it all in real estate. He served as mayor of West Palm Beach from 1901 to 1902. He wrote 18 books of poems, essays, and music lyrics before passing away in 1926 shortly after this park was dedicated. One of the best features of Currie Commons Park is the recently replaced playground. The thirty three year old wood structure playground was compromised by years of use and weathering. It also had termite damage. Restoring it was not an option so it was disassembled. Funded by the Community Redevelopment Agency, a new multilevel playground was built and it is the first of its kind in South Florida. The four story playground has a giant twisting rainbow slide along with secret hidden instruments and butterfly surprises. During my visit you could tell how much the children were enjoying it. Other park amenities include a lighted little league field, multi-purpose field, press box, concessions, and restrooms. Whether you are coming for sports or play, the Currie Commons Park is a great recreational resource for those living in and visiting the Osceola neighborhood of Delray Beach.

Some of the areas are geared towards the blind and deaf. Parking is free and there is plenty of it at the entrance to the PBS Studios. There is plenty of shade trees to make this park enjoyable all year long as well as areas to picnic.

This is a new playground between the Children's School House Museum and City Hall. It was called…read morethe Kids Kingdom because old playground had a castle structure that was built in 1996. It was a great playground and my daughter used to play on it when she was a child. Through the years the playground began to decay and it become dangerous with nails sticking out of the wood. When the old playground was demolished part of the castle structure was saved and moved to another playground. The new playground is part of the 16 acre Town Square project, a mixed use development that will include town hall, library, fire station, cultural venter, children's museum, amphitheater, green space, public art, and much more. The new playground was designed to make it easier for parents to keep an eye on their kids, something that was difficult in the old playground. The playground has climbing structures and slides. I especially love the large butterfly wings and grasses that are inspired by nature. The kids looked like they were having a blast today on the playground during the Pirate and Mermaid Festival. When they redid the park I'm glad they decided to save the large Kapok tree which provides much needed shade.

I was so excited to check out this newly built playground, and I could not have been more disappointed. There is just no way this playground was planned with input from experts or parents :( One of the main problems is that this 1 playground is actually separated into 2 playgrounds, 1 for younger children and one for older children. This would be fine if they were adjacent, but they are not; in fact, one playground cannot be seen from the other! Instead they are separated by a sidewalk (not fenced in and completely open to the road,) and due to a tall building and a slight corner turn, there is no way to see one playground from the other playground and vice versa. Therefore, 1 parent or caretaker cannot separate different aged children and watch both at the same time. Thus, the little playground is empty - because there is nothing here for older kids to do, while the older kid playground is chock full of little children, who are stuck with their older siblings. Not only are the littles using playground equiptment that is too old for them, several spinning apparatus consistently knocked over the younger kids once the piece started spinning. Also, the little playground is a bigger space than the older kids playground, despite all the kids being on the bid kid playground. Parent seating: there is no place for parents inside the fenced playground. There are benches placed outside of the fence for the parents, which is a terrible terrible practice. Now kids are falling over crying and their parents are on a bench outside of the playground. Lack of gate signs: The entrances to the gate of the playground are unmarked. Not a single sign or indicator or where or how to open the playground gate doors. Thus, it is very difficult to get in if you are a parent sitting on an outside bench, because the entire gate looks the same. Lack of signage: there are no signs on the little playground that faces the adjacent playground that indicates: name of playground, what the hours of the playground are, etc. Nothing! considering that the playground fence is physically attached to the back of the Old School Museum building, it is very unclear that this is in fact a public playground open to anyone, instead of a privately owned playspace. Also, there are no signs at each individual playground sharing the info that the other playground is around the corner. More poor planning: inside the big kids playground is a fenced storage area. This is not for kids, but for some reason it is actually inside of their fenced in playground. This makes absolutely no sense. Presumable some non-kid-friendly items live inside here, perhaps a trash bin or tools or chemicals? It would be so so easy for bored kids to climb this fence and go inside, or for someone to leave the door cracked or unlocked. I have never ever seen such strange planning for adult equipment to be kept inside a play space for kids. This playground is across from city hall and adjacent to municipal buildings, yet the only place for this hazardous stuff is inside the playground? Poor equipment: this playground may have been only a year old and already there is rust marks on most of the climbing material, one of the 2 very popular spinning pieces are broken. Also, the equipment is just not that fun. Having so many individual play pieces causes frustration and competition amongst the kids, and it would have made more sense to have communal pieces. This has to be some of the worst and unimaginitive play pieces I've seen of any playgrounds ever. And, no swings. And more: Lots of empty space inside, with zero nature, no trees or anything and no shade at all either.

It is such a hidden jam that one would not realize was hidden so close to downtown Delray. It is such a wonderful space for children and start to explore on their own and become mortal autonomous under the watchful eye of their parents. There are variety of different play areas for the children to explore and experience such as the water tables, fairy garden, mud, kitchen, sandbox, garden, and different climbing areas set up throughout. It's a wonderful place to bring your child that encourages them to develop motor skills and explore the world through sensory experiences. It's incredible how much my child has shown me they are able to do in such a short period of time just by being given this space to explore and try new things ! We've been to both the wonder lab and toddler time. The ladies who run it are so sweet, helpful and welcoming. All three times that we've gone. Everything has run smoothly and all of the craft areas are set up and restocked throughout often times the crafts have broaden some aspects of nature which we love. The…read moredesirable neighborhood dates back to the early 1970's and mainly features large, single family homes. Lakeview Park is the neighborhood park for this community. Park amenities include a boat ramp, pavilion which can be rented, picnic pavilion, picnic table, playground, restroom, wand walking path. My favorite part of the park was the gorgeous view of Lake Ida, a popular spot for boating, fishing, and bird watching. The lake was named after the wife of Delray Beach's founder and was once a part of a huge farm. The area was later transformed into a park in the early 1970s. There are two other, much larger parks on Lake Ida, Lake Ida East Park and Lake Ida West Park. An interesting thing I noticed at Lakeview Park is that it had a number of new trees planted. This is the same thing I have been seeing at all of the parks in Delray Beach. The trees are part of the Delray Beach tree planting program which aims to put in 10,000 trees by 2025. To complete the goal the city entered into an agreement with Community Greening in 2022 funded by the Tree Trust Fund. Community Greening is an Urban Forestry nonprofit with the mission to increase South Florida's tree canopy. I love the work they are doing and it is great to learn more about them. If you want to get involved in planting more trees there is a list of events they need volunteers for on their website as well as a list of days they are giving away trees.

From the lakeside, you can enjoy the birds, perhaps do some fishing, or watch over in the distance as the cars go northbound on I-95. I found it quite peaceful. The park was named Eagle Park in 2006 in honor of the Atlantic Community High School mascot, the Eagle. There are a few parking spots along the side of the road. Park amenities include a gazebo which can be rented, a paved exercise path, benches, and a playground. It was sad to see that someone had spray painted the gazebo with graffiti. My favorite part of the park is the wetlands at the entrance. Wetlands attract a variety of wildlife including wading birds, migrating birds, lizards, and alligators. While I didn't see any alligators there was a basilisk lizard who clearly wanted to break into modeling. They are sometimes referred to as the Jesus Christ lizard for their ability to run on water. I enjoyed discovering this great park that is perfect for taking the kids to play, exercise, enjoy nature, or have a picnic. Just keep an eye on the water with small children and pets.

The playground used to feel a bit unsafe, especially for younger kids. There were tall play structures (including a ship-style area) with spots lacking proper railings, and some slides ended too high off the ground, which made landings uncomfortable and even risky. The splash area was a fun idea, but the flooring was worn out, and the restrooms definitely needed an upgrade. Fast forward to now -- everything has changed. The renovation completely transformed this space into one of our favorite family spots, especially during hot Florida days. The playground is now fully enclosed with a fence and has a single entrance, which makes it much easier to keep an eye on kids The layout is circular, so visibility is great from almost any angle There's a shaded splash pad area (huge plus in the summer!) A separate, safe toddler zone -- thoughtfully designed and much more secure Soft ground (similar to artificial turf) -- very comfortable for kids The splash area has rubber flooring, and the play structures for older kids are still fun but noticeably safer now. There are also two swing areas and a basketball court. Small note: I personally think the basketball area should be fenced off -- balls can occasionally fly into the playground (we've experienced that ourselves). There are benches and picnic tables, but they fill up quickly on weekends. Pro tip: bring a picnic blanket and lunch -- it turns into the perfect cozy family setup. Other great features: * Clean, spacious restrooms (with very large changing stations) * Drinking water fountain * Easy parking * A cute little free book box -- bring a book, take a book * Walking trails with lots of greenery -- perfect for scooters and relaxed strolls One tiny aesthetic note -- some of the flooring colors (bright red/blue) feel a bit intense visually, but the green areas look beautiful and natural. A huge new indoor Pickleball center is being constructed. They have a practice wall, which I absolutely love. I checked in at the pro shop and was assigned with my team three courts. If you want a quiet day at the beach this is it! And it's free. I saw a small school of fish further out and also some type of bottom feeder fish. Very clean beach too, free of garbage.
