Bexley Trail Community Park is located in the Bexley Park neighborhood. The park opened in 2006 when the city transformed a field of high grass, rocks, and gopher holes into a park. The park was designed by CH2M Hill engineering and construction firm and cost $600,000 with the money coming from a voter-approved bond issue in 2004. The original plan for the land was to relocate Atlantic High School to it but when it was no longer needed for that purpose the developers of Bexley Park purchased it and set it aside for a city park.
The 11.2 acre park has 4 picnic pavilions with tables (can be rented), a playground (closed), grills, open area, a paved nature trail around the lake across the street, and a short mulched walk where you may spot threatened gopher tortoises, snakes, butterflies, and birds. The park is owned by the City of Delray Beach so you don't have to live in the neighborhood to visit the park. It is open every day from 8 AM to dusk. read more
