If some of the negative commenters made a choice to get a second opinion, which Shawn B did, maybe their outcomes would have been better. Personally I needed more dental work than expected from the start, but, Smiles kept me in the loop, dental removal of wisdom teeth completed, 4 crowns applied. I was offered options and reasons for one or another of choices. Having a conversation with the clinician in any medical setting is the right thing to do. Getting second opinions, if there are concerns, is also the right thing to do. Patients need to remember that asking for a little extra medication to deaden the root systems prior to fillings, crowns, and removals is the right thing to ask for. If a patient is older and sensitive to teeth removals, ask for conscious sedation, especially if you are having dental "surgery". My Careington 1 plan helped me to save money and Sierra Smiles is the only dental office that accepts that plan. Very good job, from my experiences.

The dental hygienists are always amazing, and excellent at dealing with people who are anxious about dental care or very sensitive to dental pain. However, today I had an experience where Dr. Wallace and his staff really went above and beyond that I really wanted to share. I had a filling come out last Friday, and when I called Monday morning to book an appointment, was told that I would be seen for diagnosis only, and the treatment would have to be scheduled in at a later date. You can imagine my surprise when upon looking at the tooth Dr. Wallace said he could take care of it today. He and his assistant got me very well numbed, got the filling replaced and got me out of there in less than 40 minutes. Thanks to them I am now pain free again AND was able to still make it in to work on time today. They easily could have scheduled me to come back at a later time, and their willingness to do this today made such a difference in my life this week. I cannot recommend this dental office and the entire team there highly enough, you all are amazing!!

If I could leave a negative rating, I would…read more I found Sierra Family Dental on Lincoln Way in Auburn, CA through Delta Dental. I was new to the area and needed a new dentist. In December 2022 I called the listed number and got a simple recording that said "Please, leave a message". It did NOT identify the business, list hours of operation or give the address. I left a message and a day or so later someone called me back. I made an appointment and went to see them to have a loose crown recemented. The dentist Dr. Pielago seemed very competent and reglued my crown back on. On March 2nd, 2023 I went in and had a cleaning, and Dr. Pielago filled a cavity. On Friday May 5th I had to go back in as the previous filling fell out. Dr. Pielago re-did the work. On May 9th the crown that Dr. Pielago glued on came off at dinner. The next morning, Wednesday May 10th I called the office to find out what time they open. I got the same recording that said "Please leave a message". So I drove down to the office at 0800 to discover that they are closed on Wednesday. Had that information been included in the regular outgoing message I would have saved myself a trip. So I called again and let them know I was experiencing a dental emergency. I told them I was parked out front and asked them to call me back. By 0830 I had not received a call back. So I called Delta Dental and they found a dentist in Rocklin who could take me at 1030. I called Sierra Dental to let them know, and this time I got a comprehensive outgoing message stating that they would be closed from May 10th to May 21st. This tells me that they got my first message, and instead of calling me back with information and a referral, all they did was CHANGE their outgoing message. There was no notice on their front door indicating they would be closed. Their original outgoing message did NOT mention it. Only AFTER I called and left a message asking for help did they change their outgoing recording. And WORST of all, they did not have the courtesy or professionalism to call one of their patients back, especially when they KNEW I was waiting for a call. So if you are looking for a dentist just to clean, they might be for you. But if you are looking for a dentist who actually CARES about their patients and reaches out to them in times of need, Sierra Family Dental is NOT for you.

His staff is amazingly cordial, Professional and personable. They care about you as a person not just your mouth. The office is pleasant, the music is great and not too loud. The beautiful photography in each room is calming and peaceful. It's no wonder he received best dentist in Auburn. He gives generously to cancer research, and other causes. Teresa was able to get to the nerve without damaging it and saved an important molar. Plus, her numbing injections were practically painless! (And oh so necessary...) They identify any problems and recommend practical solutions. Recently, I had a 30 year old crown replaced before it really started to do any damage. Overall coming to the office has been complete hell from day one although the doctors are fairly nice and same with the hygienists. The manager Jen has an extremely poor attitude for working at the front of any establishment. I was even told by Jen there was no way to schedule me out a month in advance but after speaking to the doctor first hand I find out that the front desk manager lied , so they sent someone to watch her make the new appointment. Those games are quite frankly very immature for her old age. Lastly I had a temporary that had to be redone a total of 3 times.( not very excellent ) I ended the missing appointment to get my permanent I tried to call no answer, I left a angry message which is quiet deserved after everything and I just got ignored even though they had my permanent tooth . I had to play phone tag for over a day trying to get ahold of these people wondering why they would not answer . Eventually I got through after Jen saying please hold and hanging up multiple times like a child . I finally was like just please give me refund ! Dear Christ man . If you guys don't want me as your patient that's fine especially after I already gave you guys 5,000. I feel like a response or email is sufficient to tell the patient you don't want to serve them . I tried to ask Jen for the tooth she told me that she threw it away , then I still had to hassle her about a refund .But to act as if I'm in the wrong when you have my permanent tooth and money for a unfinished job is ridiculous. If you wanna be treated like trash while paying top dollar come here by all means but don't be shocked when similar things happen... I wish I could show the phone call recording on this to show foul they are as well ... but anyways dont go here or do you'll regret it . They are also very sensitive about the work being done in the office so if something is done improperly you're probably not wrong but these people won't admit to their faults.
