Avoid Sierra Smiles at All Costs - Negligent and Money-Driven
I don't normally write reviews, but my experience with Sierra Smiles was so bad that I feel compelled to warn others. This practice prioritizes pushing expensive, unnecessary procedures over proper patient care.
In mid-2024, I went to Sierra Smiles with severe pain that felt like both an ear infection and a toothache. Urgent care had already ruled out an ear infection but suspected Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) and advised me to see a dentist. Sierra Smiles claimed nothing was wrong after taking x-rays. Because of this, I spent months suffering needlessly, undergoing expensive medical tests--including an MRI--to rule out brain tumors.
In December 2024, I returned for similar pain and a crown fix on the other side of my face. I also requested a standard teeth cleaning, but they refused to do a basic cleaning unless I agreed to an overpriced deep cleaning--something they were aggressively pushing on nearly every patient in the office that day. I was forced to sign a waiver just to get a standard cleaning. During that cleaning, the hygienist immediately noticed my filling had fallen out--something the dentist had completely missed.
Instead of properly diagnosing and addressing the issue, they filled the missing filling during the crown replacement without taking X-rays. The dentist even commented that it "might need a root canal" but did nothing further. By early January, my face was severely swollen on both sides due to infections that had likely been present for over six months--the true cause of my pain all along.
I had to make two separate trips to urgent care just to be placed on antibiotics for infections and abscesses on both sides of my mouth--infections Sierra Smiles should have caught and treated weeks / months earlier.
A reputable dentist quickly saw the issue on an X-ray and referred me to an endodontist, who took a 3D scan and immediately identified two serious infections that they felt had likely been there for at least six months--something Sierra Smiles completely missed.
To make matters worse, their front desk staff is rude, dismissive, and pushy. When I called to discuss my experience, they hung up on me. I regret not walking away in June, but they were one of the few places accepting new patients with my insurance.
Bottom Line:
In my opinion, Sierra Smiles is incompetent and focused on sales over patient care. They push unnecessary procedures while failing to diagnose real dental issues, causing long-term pain and complications. If you value your health, RUN from this place. read more
