And his staff delighted me with their happy attitudes. I actually looked forward to my appointments.

He promised suitures for the extraction site due to my bad cough that is severe at night and early mornings. I was told they would send over 2 prescriptions 1 amoxicillin and 1 codeine. I asked about the suitures and he said he isn't going to because the gums are folding over. I started to bring up my coughing and he just walked out. Mind you this is not proper behavior for a doctor, surgeon etc So I asked the assistant why is he being an ass and she said he isn't you are. I have been coming to Sierra Smiles for 7 years. The staff have been extremely patient oriented,…read moreand that is a super plus. Sad to read some other commenters had challenging experiences, from their point of view. If some of the negative commenters made a choice to get a second opinion, which Shawn B did, maybe their outcomes would have been better. Personally I needed more dental work than expected from the start, but, Smiles kept me in the loop, dental removal of wisdom teeth completed, 4 crowns applied. I was offered options and reasons for one or another of choices. Having a conversation with the clinician in any medical setting is the right thing to do. Getting second opinions, if there are concerns, is also the right thing to do. Patients need to remember that asking for a little extra medication to deaden the root systems prior to fillings, crowns, and removals is the right thing to ask for. If a patient is older and sensitive to teeth removals, ask for conscious sedation, especially if you are having dental "surgery". My Careington 1 plan helped me to save money and Sierra Smiles is the only dental office that accepts that plan. Very good job, from my experiences.

This was the worst dental experience I have ever had. Rude and unprofessional. I went to Dr…read more Avera for an evaluation and he started out by insulting my regular dentist for giving me the particular night guard that Avera didn't seem to like. Then he proceeded to point the finger at "most dentists" saying they don't know anything about night guards and he's the expert. He was laughing and had to check himself and say "hey, I'm not laughing at you, I just see this all the time." Maybe he's right, I don't know. But, how arrogant and condescending! He spent a lot of time telling me how smart he is, and how much he knows and other dentists don't know. Well it gets worse. He was explaining a simple concept and repeated himself several times like I was too stupid to get it the first time. Then he said "give me your hand and I'll show you." He grabbed my hand and jabbed his thumb into my palm and I let out an "ow" and I pulled my hand back. (I guess he thought this was some sort of a brilliant analogy) He laughed and said "come on that didn't hurt... come on." Well it hurt... And how would he know? And who does he think he is to tell me it didn't hurt? I have to wonder... Did it ever cross his mind to say..."Oh shoot, I'm sorry, did that hurt?" He's arrogant and condescending. Competent? I doubt it. Based on my experience, and many of the other reviews, I would steer clear of this guy. There are plenty of better options. One more thing... It seems most of the negative reviews are fairly recent. Maybe he just needs to retire.

I will also be reporting them to the CA Dental Association and submitting a grievance to my insurance company to ensure this doesn't happen to anyone else. Very disappointing.
