My experience started off a little frustrating. I originally scheduled my appointment back in December for July, but got a call a week before my appointment that it had to be pushed all the way to October due to the doctor's scheduling. Thankfully they were able to work around last minute cancellations at their other locations. Because of that, I ended up going to three different offices in one week. I went to Folsom on Tuesday for my initial assessment, Citrus Heights on Wednesday for a filling, and Auburn on Thursday for my cleaning. So if you're booking here, just be aware that you may need to be flexible or visit multiple locations if you want to get in sooner. That said, my hygienist in Auburn, Alice, completely turned the experience around. She was hands down the best hygienist I've ever had! She was so kind and made me feel incredibly comfortable throughout my cleaning. She explained everything, was very personable, and made what is usually an anxious experience for me feel easy. Appalling dental office. I departed without agreeing to any service, now or in the future, and upon returning home I immediately logged into my insurer and changed facilities. The good: The dentist Mohammad Anwar was kind, personable, and inspired my confidence with his diagnoses. Nothing he recommended was entirely unexpected or outlandish (financially or otherwise), and very reasonable. Dr. Anwar and his dental assistant were both a pleasure to meet. The bad: Everything else, especially the facility, and front of house staff. Starting with the facility, I am (was) a NEW patient, and new to the area. There is no exterior signage that I can see, and it was some time before I could find the actual office. Nothing guides to look for an unmarked hallway upstairs over a bank. This does not inspire confidence. The facility is dated and looks almost antiquated, from the 70s or 80s. This was unsettling. My xrays were performed in a chair in the HALLWAY in full view of the waiting area. No booth, cubicle or room. This was unsettling. In the treatment room, I laid back on a treatment bed and stared at brown water stained broken ceiling tiles and numerous dead insects and bugs inside of the dirty fluorescent light fixtures. This was unsettling. The treatment room (painted and decorated strictly for children) had three (3) treatment beds and computer stations, as if this was a public clinic treatment area in a public health ward. No curtains or devices closed off the other beds. Fortunately they were unoccupied, but this would have been unsettling. The exam was without a problem and Dr. Anwar and his assistant were friendly and helpful. And then they sent me out to the waiting room, and that's where things really went down hill. The receptionist was nearly maddening in her lack of care, concern and helpfulness to a NEW patient. I was led to her to go over my appointments for the treatment plan. Fair enough, but she asked me to "wait a few minutes" for her to "set it up" -- without explaining what "it" was. I sat and waited. And waited. And waited. Twenty minutes later she called me up to the counter to stand in front of her, and she did two (2) things. Handed me a set of headphones, and pointed me to a monitor on the counter. She said "This is for your privacy" with no explanation as to what was about to happen. Apparently, I had been waiting (unknown to me) to be connected to some kind of Digital Dental Zoom Consultation, with a woman who was also not introduced or explained. I don't even know her name. I adjusted my headset for what I had to presume was going to be some kind of digital conversation, and then when the digital woman was talking numbers / prices, the receptionist handed me a 2 page treatment plan with price modules going down both pages. The woman on the monitor started reeling off these various price options by codes, but noted at the same time various mistakes she saw because as she said she could see I was being assessed a "$98 co pay for future cleaning when it should be covered, etc., it should be $12" and she was prattling off corrections, as well as warranties for crown work and such, work I had not even had 1 minute to SEE or READ, let alone contemplate or decide. Pity I wasn't given that 2 page plan to read during my 20 minute wait for the zoom meeting, hm? I said "I really don't know what you're even talking about yet" to the woman on the monitor. The receptionist printed another page of the dental plan work and handed it to me while the woman was talking to me, so now I'm distracted by two people talking to me at once, one in front of me and one on the screen, while I'm standing in a waiting room with patients behind me. Am I expected to discuss my medical care, treatment options, prices and coverage and copays with an audience behind me listening to me out of boredom? Apparently yes, I am. The only person who's voice was muted and protected was the woman on the monitor. Anything I happened to ask or say would be with an audience. How is that appropriate? I refused to stand there at a counter and be hammered with prices for things I had not even READ yet, so the monitor woman turned me back over to the receptionist to schedule an in-person consult, instead. The receptionist told me my various location options were Elk Grove, Citrus Heights, or Folsom. All a considerable distance from where I work and live. Even traveling to AUBURN for THIS appointment was 45 minutes! Elk Grove is 1.5 hours away from my home. When I expressed confusion she explained none of the work planned would be done in the Auburn office, I was being referred out to a "sister facility" but she didn't explain any of this until I asked for clarification, as if this was just a "minor detail." I folded up the treatment plan, put it my purse, and said I wasn't comfortable with any of this (gesturing at the set-up). I went home and immediately changed providers. read more

If I could rate this joke of a place 0 I would. It is horrible. The office is dirty, there is never a person at the front. It's all computers. You just sit there and stare at the screen waiting for someone you help you. The staff are rude. There is no privacy. Not sure how they aren't violating HIPPA laws with 5 patients in the exact same room. We went twice to get my 8 yr olds tooth pulled. One tooth! $1300 up front for sedation. Tried to ask about Nitrous gas twice, nope. Kids went this Monday for their appts, still wouldn't pull one tooth for my 8 year old who is in pain and has a cracked baby tooth! This place is disgusting. I asked to have my daughter's baby tooth removed because it was growing into her gum crooked, they sent me to an orthodontist to get a consult for braces! WTF!! I can't recommend this place to anyone. They ask you to go on the "myhhub" and sign the consent and paperwork prior to the appt. They never upload the forms. I have since moved my kids to my dentist. My daughter waited almost an hour for the hygienist to come back to finish her cleaning, the hygienist was doing a cleaning on another patient! WTF! Horrible horrible place. Zero stars! Seriously, I work in the healthcare field x 20yrs. This office does not protect patient confidentiality at all. Violates so many HIPPA laws. Girl on the screen taking about all your business out loud for everyone in the lobby to hear. read more

CHEEZY! This dental office looks like the K-Mart of dentistry. The office furnishings and decor just reek of poor quality and taste. They give away 29 cent toothbrushes that look to be lower quality than the Dollar Store. Our old dentist gave away Oral-B toothbrushes. Staff had on wrinkled scrubs. Smile Time wanted to do way more dental work than was suggested by our previous dentist. Wondering why? It's your teeth. Be careful who you allow to work on them. read more

In my 50 Plus years of going to dentist and now relocating to Auburn this dentist is by far the worse dentist I have ever gone to. To them sadly it's not about the patient it is strictly about $$$$$. I do not recommend this dentist and will NEVER go there again. They don't even have a hot water heater for patience with sensitive teeth. Horrible!!! read more

Rarely write reviews, but this team deserves one. Came in hopeless, thinking it was going to be quite a task to not only fix my teeth, but to have a good looking smile again. Not only did they fix any/all issue spots (a lot), but my smile actually looks better than before. The team and doctors were extremely kind, patient and very professional. I love, love my teeth. Oh! And my toddler goes here, which is a bonus. I know the doctors and the team. They've done wonders on my smile, so I trust them with my toddlers growing teeth and it removes having a couple different dental offices to go to. Highly recommend! read more

Smile-Time Dental Auburn has been nothing but wonderful for me on my recurring visits. I haven't been to a dentist in years, so I definitely needed some maintenance in the tooth department and they have been extremely kind and accomodating to me. It turns out I needed a couple of crowns done and my insurance company refused on multiple occasions to cover them if it wasn't for receptionist superhero Danielle Stevenson! She fought them back and forth repeatedly stating that it was a necessary requirement and they finally relinquished and agreed and will finally cover them after a month long battle. They charge extra. SmileTime Dental asked me to pay $73 for a bacterial rinse when I arrived for my 4/20/23 tooth cleaning appointment. This rinse is not medically necessary, nor is it reimbursed/covered by my dental insurance. The dental office said they wouldn't clean my teeth unless I paid for the rinse. I declined, and so, was unable to get my teeth cleaned, even though my insurance documents state I do not have to pay any out-of-pocket costs to get my teeth cleaned at SmileTime (an in-network dentist). I'm not smiling after visiting SmileTime. read more

I never even was able to make it in to this dentist! I called in December and was told that no appointments were available until January but I needed to go online to fill out forms first, so I did and went ahead and scheduled online for myself and 2 daughters for another day. Luckily I called before driving to my appointment, because apparently they did not have any appointments scheduled for me. I had email confirmation, so my thought is maybe their online scheduling program is not used often and they didn't check it? They were not very apologetic, so I assume this has happened before. Then they scheduled me via phone for mid February. Someone called and said they were busy in the afternoon so asked to move the appointment up a little earlier, okay. Then someone called me again and said that the appointment time they moved me to is during the doctors lunch time so needs to be rescheduled again, but the next available time they have is now in March. These people do not know what they are doing and are completely unorganized. read more

My regular dentist quoted me way more than I could afford for some dental work so I signed up for Delta Dental Insurance and this office was one of the offered providers. Since I had a terrible toothache and wanted to get in as soon as the waiting period was over, I called and got what turned out to be a central Smile Time office. I was told the Auburn office was not taking new patients (which is NOT what the Delta Dental website says), so I would need to go to the office in Rocklin. Bait and Switch! PLUS their policy was not to give out appointments until after the insurance takes effect...which means I would have to wait a month to make the appointment, and then probably wait weeks to get into the dentist. read more
