My family went to Loomis Family Dentistry for years, and things seemed pretty good...until they slapped us with hundreds of dollars of "past due" bills. We had never been told of any unpaid balance, and we paid what was asked before we left the office. For good measure, they tagged on some late fees (even though they never notified us of bills and had literally over a year of visits to inform us in person). Further, they fell out of our network years ago, and never told us. They claim they are not obligated to tell us, but they even hid the additional costs that resulted from out-of-network charges until over a year later..and then they just lumped it all into a big bill with late fees. Totally unprofessional and unscrupulous... Too bad, because we kind of liked the dentist (and we loved the hygienist).

I went in for X-rays today and immediately felt my mouth burning and my throat getting tight. The techno confirmed the bite was wrapped in latex. I left immediately to get emergency medicine. The office called to tell me that the reaction was not their fault because the gloves are nitrile. This is not a glove issue. This is a known and chart listed allergen being placed in my mouth by one of their rapidly revolving staff. And they refuse to accept accountability. My whole mouth is blistered. My tongue is swollen, and I will be in pain for several days. Mistakes happen, but dodging fault for a preventative injury is inexcusable.

So I wait..Then that date was pushed out again by another 2 weeks, and a week before that second reschedule, I received a call saying the Dr. is retiring and can't see me anymore; they want me to go somewhere else. There were so many different ways to go about this and none of those ways were established. Waiting two months was ridiculous but seemed worth it, being pushed out was disappointing, and being cancelled on altogether is infuriating. If they were honest from the beginning saying he may or may not be able to see you because he may or may not be retiring would have been much better than blind siding patients.
