    Medium caramel coconut coffee
    Selenia M.

Really quick counter service despite being a little crowded. The server was extremely pleasant. I ordered the caramel coconut coffee. I added creamer and it was perfect. I wish I had time to go once more before heading back home tomorrow. It's located in what I found to be a beautiful neighborhood - Hyde Park. Very walkable. A lot of other shops within walking distance. It also looks as if it serves as a working space, as I saw many patrons with their laptops. They also offer small bites, but I just stuck to my coffee.

Iced mojito - sweet and creamy. Yum!

This is my new favorite spot, either for a coffee date with my hubs or a place to enjoy inner peace before school pick up. Everyone is just lovely here. I often go for the iced mojito but sometimes I'll try something new. I think I'll start bringing my laptop at least once a week and get some work done. Lots of love for Philz.

In what's more or less downtown Hyde park, a university neighborhood, you definitely get the feeling that you're on a university campus at Philz Coffee Shop. It is Street parking, so it will just depend on the time of day you're there. Once you're inside, there are plenty of tables and coffee bar space to hang out at. In fact, there is a second room to walk into with a lot more tables. The Ambiance is relaxed, not at all loud, a nice hubbub of people having conversations, and none of that loud Starbucks banging. Philz Decor is not overwhelming, and it feels very Mom and Pop and neighborhoody. Again, much more welcoming than the green mermaid place. Importantly, the menu uses easy to understand language and easy to understand sizes for different cups. Sophie and the other baristas were so very friendly, welcoming, professional, engaging, and efficient! For my first visit, I went for a simple cup of coffee. Start with the basics, because of a place can't get this right, then the review goes downhill and I'm not coming back the second time. Suffice to say... excellent cup of coffee! Absolutely delicious for a fast cup of coffee! Next time there, I'll try something a little more creative.

The drink was reasonably priced, the atmosphere is cozy, I just personally don't think they have a large variety of pastries or coffee flavors. The customer service was excellent, I would not mind sitting in here doing work, Glad I stopped by!

It was a quick and easy experience! I ordered online and got my food in the time it said it would be ready. The ham and cheese croissant was good! I got the honey haze which I liked a lot but my friend also got that and didn't like his drink. It must depends on who made it then. Also, the shop was clean and very easy to navigate. Overall, a great place to grab your caffeine fix!

Cool Java joint that only does pour over coffee. Now that's bougie and pure. I was told the best way to extra coffe from the bean is with a pour over. The black dark and bold that I got was strong but had zero bitterness!

Super cute coffee shop! Not your usual coffee & tea prep. Oat & Almond milk available in addition to cream. Staff made this 1st time stop wonderful. It did not disappoint. Thank you!

I usually don't gravitate towards sweet coffee, but this was surprisingly really really good! I got the mint mojito and it was the perfect blend of sweet and creamy. Will be trying the rose latte next time!

I was staying at the nearby Sophia's hotel and decided to try Philz over Starbucks. Wow, I impressed with the quick service and delicious drinks. I loved reading their menu also. It was so engaging and ultimately I ordered two to try because I couldn't decide. Recommend the Tiramisu and the Soul Cold Brew!

I like this contemporary take on a coffee shop. Each cup is made drip-fresh - which you can taste. Located in downtown Hyde Park, it's perfectly positioned on the corner with lovely big windows. It's nice to sit and people-watch. If you have a certain taste in mind, it's perfectly appropriate to ask for recommendations, which I did. Instead of sugar, they will use honey at no additional cost. Due to minimal seating and university students squatting to study, it's less intimate than I expected. Also, I don't know if I was sitting under a speaker or if the coffee made me super alert (haha!), but the music seemed a bit loud. BUT the fresh taste and modern ambiance will keep me coming back! I've added Philz to my Yelp favorites!

I got the iced honey haze with medium sweetness! Nice creaminess without a hint of coffee bitterness. Great afternoon pick me up.

Glad we came here instead of dunkin across the street to get our coffee fix. The menu describes the coffee selections based on type of strength and flavor notes so you can determine which best suits your preference. Each hand made, drip method, see pics. So come with patience as these are truly creations made with care. They also ask what sweetness level you'd like, hot or iced, and offer oatmilk as an alternative to milk/cream. Ordered a Mocha Tesora hot, not very sweet, with oatmilk. Just the right temp for me to drink as soon as it was ready, as in not scorchin hot and kept my taste buds to enjoy the taste of the coffee. Others in my party ordered the iced mint mojito, which was light and refreshing, fresh mint muddled first at the bottom and garnished with some as well. Also, the iced coffee rosé, which as expected is floral, done with rose water, and refreshing as well. Bathrooms kept clean, you do have to ask them for the code to get in. Calm, quiet vibe when we visited midday on a Tuesday. Many using the space to do work or study around the shop.

The coffee is unique here, unlike other coffee shops. You wait (and wait) for it and pay a bigger price but it's definately worth it: this is more like a coffee cocktail (non-alcoholic) that you can sip and enjoy for a long time. I got a scone which they heated up without asking (I don't like it heated). Took a good 15 minutes from entering the store to getting the drink for a little walk. Nice store with room to sit.

The staff were really welcoming, for an early morning. I got the hot chocolate. Honestly that's exactly what I needed that morning. It had that real Mexican chocolate taste. Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. Sweet and it almost had this slight earthy note too... hard to explain but good. It even had that little design on top, like the ones they do on cappuccinos. Didn't expect that but it was cool. I finished it slow. Didn't wanna rush it. Just sat there taking small sips and enjoying it while it was still hot.

Once I bit into it, the inside was soft, airy, and slightly chewy from the sourdough, which made it different from a regular donut. There was a subtle tang from the sourdough that balanced the sweetness really well, so it never felt overly sugary. The wide spacing between tables makes for a comfortable dining experience. So many folks come in to do their work and dine here. Great menu with neighborhood favorites leaning toward the old school Italian dishes. Sandwiches, soups, salads, and breakfasts just to name a few are all excellent. The pastries are insane and a must take home deal. I love the American Breakfast. Three eggs your way, thick diced America potatoes, thick cut bacon, and sourdough toast. Accompanied by what I believe to be home made jelly and for sure homemade gardiniera. Caruso's gardiniera actually. Diced into a relish unlike most standard gardiniera it's easier to eat with many dishes. Excellent flavor and just the right kick to it. FYI Dolce Arte also sells a to go line of homemade Caruso products from their gardiniera to past and past sauces and more. Yes, their coffee is really good too. Lavazza products I believe. I know it sounded silly, but I enjoyed chewing these coconut flakes and they were good palate cleansers! The presentation was da bomb as well. The only reason that I couldn't give five stars to "Stockyard" was limited seating. The place was super cute, but there were only 3 tables and less than 4 high chair seating against the windows, plus some outdoor seating on the pedestrian walkway. The laptop users were respectfully directed to sit at the windows and outlets were available. The baristas were friendly and knowledgeable.
