From my experience on the phone to getting my tattoo done by Miguel, I would totally recommend hands down. Shop is extremely clean & everyone is chill. Went into the shop, gave some reference photos, asked for a price range & was able to schedule it the next day! Miguel was very professional & easy going. He informed me about the preparation process & was able to give insight to calm the nerves/anxiety prior to getting the tattoo. Very chill guy, easy to talk to & made the atmosphere comfortable throughout the entire experience. Strongly recommend, you won't be disappointed! read more

My friend and I went in yesterday to get our first tattoos and it was amazing! I made the appointment through Instagram and communication with the owner was easy, he responded quickly and was very informative. We were taken care of as soon as we arrived for our appointment time (sessions are one at a time due to covid) and we were both done within 2 hours. I'm so happy with my tattoo and Antonio did an incredible job!!! So grateful to this place for their awesome customer service during COVID read more

I got a tattoo from Matt at the Tattoo Expo in San Francisco in September of 2014. My tattoo was super simple, some roman numerals near my shoulder/collar bone. Well, as simple as the tattoo was he managed to fuck it up. I waited for like an hour to get tattooed, which is reasonable considering it was at an expo, but when it was my turn he just wanted to get out of there because the expo was closing for the night. I understand he wanted to rush out, but this is something that is going to be on my body for the rest of my fucking life. You think he would put in a little more effort to make it look nice. Well, once my tattoo healed I noticed that one of the numbers was way bigger than the other one and it just threw the whole thing off. Luckily i went to CLUB TATTOO recently, got a beautiful spine piece done and the artist even offered to fix up Matt's fuck up for free. There wasn't much he could do to save it, but at least it looks a little more even now. Thanks Matt, you're awesome ... not.. read more

Someone who was getting a tattoo here heckled some friends and I on the street while we walked home. He made several uncomfortable advances (including trying to pressure us into getting tattoos here several times) and proceeded to make sexist comments about women being dramatic. While that was the truly upsetting part at no fault of the business, I did call the owner to tell him about the experience. He didn't seem to think that a woman being harrassed by someone in his business (and attempting to represent his business) was his problem. I got a half hearted apology of "sorry you were offended" and that was that. read more

Waited a while - anxiety and a tattoo in progress - enough to make me second guess my first real piecing since I was 7, but Manny did so much to chill me out: not just asking me about where i I'd come from, but also taking the time to show me how careful and by-the-book he was about sanitation and regulations and all the serious elements of piercing and tatting. Gave great advice about upkeep and care, and made me feel so good about thinking about contacting him a week later when my nosering somehow wiggled its way out in the middle of the night. (Luckily figured it out myself, but still!) Overall, just so, so awesome. read more

I read the reviews on here and researched their web site prior to making an appointment. It all looked good so i made an appointment with David because i liked his work the most. I called and set a consultation with him with no problems. When you walk, its absolutely CLEAN! Kuddos! It was a pretty quick consultation since the tattoo is small and on my finger. On the acutal tattoo appointment we arrived and he took me right in and free-handed the name on my finger which looked great. took no more than 15-20 mins. Left as a happy customer. I had to get it touched up 2 days ago (not because of david) and yet another great experience. He's friendly and very informative. You can tell hes not going to B.S. you to get paid. You just get a good vibe from this place.Such a good experience im going back for future tattoos by David. Everyone i spoke to there were friendly. Miguel "Bounce" Perez had just started apprenticing. I went with a couple friends who were getting some work and hung out for about 6 hours. Probably not ideal for a business, but the owner was cool. It was fun seeing people around me get some beautiful work. The artists are clearly talented and so is Mr. Bouncer. He tattooed an adinkra symbol on my lower inside arm. He was careful, attentive and biz. I appreciate that. This wasn't my first and I hope it won't be my last from Bounce at PCT. read more

Loved everything about my experience with Dave. First off, he was just super talented and knows what he is doing. I had him do some lettering in various fonts and he nailed them, every little detail to a perfect match of what I asked for. In addition to just being great at what he does David was chill, but professional and made a point to really hear what I was going for and be sure he knew what I wanted before he got to work. He went the extra step to make sure I was happy and the job was done artistically and flawlessly. IDK about the other artists in the shop, but definite Dave recommendation to anyone looking for lettering, black and white, shading, detail, creative twist on an idea you want to develop. read more

Got my very first tattoo at this place. Awesome experience, great people, relaxing atmosphere. Love it!

These people are great. The atmosphere is even greater. They are very kind and helping have great ideas and wanting to see you very happy when u walk out that door. These people have open hearts to welcome to u as family every customer that walked in was treated great Big or small question or tattoo. They were great. I will definitely be going back to them. No questions ask. Best shop I've ben tattooed at hands down. Thanks for the great work. read more

Got my nose pierced here and they did such a bad job I had to have it removed and re-pierced at another shop. It was in way too tight and bled every night. If I didn't speak up and ask him to, the guy who pierced my nose wouldn't have cleaned the area before sticking the needle inside of my nose. There are plenty of other places to get pierced in Berkeley. Avoid this one. read more

David Diamond is a true artist. I showed him ideas that others had rejected. One is on my back right now, perfect. It took several hours but he was always aware when I had too much. And he seemed to be aware of when to talk and when not to. I couldn't have imagine a better experience. Thank you, David Unfortunately, the bully, jerk, of the boss almost ruined the whole thing. I don't need some wank telling me how to behave, when all I'm doing is getting a tattoo. And the stupid, crap music, white, misognist hip-hop was annoying as well. I think David should run that place or better find a good position, hopefully not by neanderthals. He has tons to offer. I'm happy to provide references. read more

First time coming to this shop and was highly pleased. Everything was clean, and very professional. Ryan worked on my arm and I was very satisfied with the tattoo he did. The pricing was definitely good and the quality of the work was great. I gave him a picture of what I had in mind and let him put his own artistic skills into the piece and draw up what he would think would look best. I will only be coming back to this place and have all ready referred others to go here. All the artists have positive attitudes, good vibes, and def very skilled. Thanks again to Ryan! read more

Trust this man with your skin! I would never send someone to an artist I do not know or trust and I still recommend Bus to anyone who asks, even after 5 years of not seeing him. Sadly I have not see Short Bus in a few years since we moved separate ways after he did my sleeve and chest, however, I can say that I get compliments all over the world on the work he did. Bus is the only tattoo artist I could find that was willing to work with my stupid schedule at the time. We did most of my work between 11 pm and 2 am on Sunday nights after the shop he was in closed. You really have to like someone to dedicate that time block to them for as long as we did. I have been to shops all over Europe, I have gotten another sleeve in the UK by amazing artists, and I would not hesitate to see Bus for another tattoo if I find myself near his shop! read more

I've had several sessions here with David and every experience is a good one. He is hands down thee best artist in the bay! His freehand and script is incomparable to any. I've gotten 5 tattoos from David with one still being worked on currently, and I couldn't imagine going to another shop. Even with the offers I've rcvd to do my tattoo I still will only go here. I have never gotten a tattoo from the other artist in the shop but I've bn coming here for yrs and I can say that they ALL do rly great work and are a awesome bunch of guys with outstanding talent! My first impression of the shop was the cleanliness, and the customer service; the receptionist was a complete sweetheart. I had my tattoo done by droopy, and he did an AMAZING job; tattoo was extremely detailed. Droopy put together exactly what I wanted, but added his creativity to it (which I told him to do). I love my tat, so I will most def return to have my pitbulls face done by Mr. droopy!! read more

Philthy Clean Tattoos made my experience getting my second tattoo a great one. John Palega is an artist I will go to get any other tribal piece, and I'll definitely refer him to everyone I know looking for an artist. The studio itself was decorated beautifully, art pieces all along with walls mostly done by the artists employed there. The couch in the waiting area is new and comfortable. There is a lot of candy put out for your liking on the counter. It is such a spacious and modern building, unlike a lot of tattoo/piercing shops I've gone to with minimal space to move around. I went in with a picture of a tribal piece I had in mind just to give John some inspiration, and what I came out with was so much better. We emailed back and forth beforehand, concluding that the piece was going to be $200. After he freehand sketched the piece on my arm in Sharpie, he had me look at it before going in. It was a little bigger than I thought it was and the picture I showed him had been which I was concerned about considering the price would clearly be more, but he told me not to worry because the price was going to remain $200, and he just felt as though Polynesian tattoos vary on different people and what he drew up suited me more. I completely agreed! Throughout the process, we took two breaks within the roughly 3.5 hours I was there. He asked me several times how I was feeling, if I needed any water, or to tell him if I was uncomfortable in the position I was laying in. I can tell he truly cares about his clients, which is something I really appreciated. John wasn't at all stiff and knew how to joke around. My experience was really great. I look forward to making future appointments here with John at Philthy Clean Tattoos! read more

I am giving this place a 2 do the the way things were handle after our tattoo was done. At the time of the session, everything was great. Great customer service. Place was clean and everyone was coo and nice. After the tattoos were done I reached out to the person who did my fiancé's and mine tattoos. Our both tattoos were not really filled in correctly once it was healed. I reached out to Mrs Philthy and notified her about this. She stated that sometimes that happens with ring tattoos but she will be happy to fix that once she gets back from maternity leave. Which I totally understood and was happy to wait. Months and months went by and I decided to reach out again and just ask if she knew by any chance when she may be back so I can have an idea when we will get them fixed. I just didn't want a whole year to go by and she may forget or something. Wasn't asking to get it done ASAP or anything. I just curious if she knew her schedule since she said she will let me know when she will start again in July. And I was reaching out in mid August ( our tattoo was done in March) . I didn't push it or anything so gave it time and I know things may change which I totally respect. But what I didn't like that when I reached out after she had delivered her baby she read my messages and ignored it. She's posting pics of tattoos on her ig so I thought maybe she was back so thats why I reached out. I reached out twice because I wasn't getting a response when she may think she will start tattooing so I can get an appointment in. And if she didn't know she could at least say she wasn't sure or wasn't setting appointments yet or whatever the case may have been. Instead she just reads and ignores. I mean I paid, it wasn't a free tattoo so I had a right to ask when she could fix it. After the two ignored messages I just let it go. I wasn't going to beg. Now over a year my fiancé and I never got our tattoo fixed. I think it was very unprofessional the way she handle it. We were paid customers that did not have our satisfaction met. And I wanted to get more tattoos by her and I was thinking to have her fix the one on my finger and have others done on the next session. But with the experience I would never back to this place due to this. read more
