I was very nervous about getting my first tattoo, and after a less than welcoming experience at a different shop in the past, I was skeptical. The owner (Roz, I believe) was super friendly over the phone, which helped ease my nerves a bit, and I was welcomed into the shop by the her with a big smile. She fit me in without an appointment (which was beyond nice, since it was the end of the day). The apprentice working at the time (Amy I think) drew up a design for me, and I was in love with it. :) I decided I wanted my first tattoo on my ribs/side (ouch...) and Al (the artist who did my tattoo) informed me of the discomfort I was about it be in but he, and the staff also made me feel super at ease. Al was quick, professional, friendly, and I guess as "gentle" as possible. 30 or more minutes later and it was done! I'm over the moon with the tattoo and I'll definitely be back for the next one :) read more

AVOID THIS SHOP AT ALL COSTS! This place is a whole scam, unprofessional & RUDE! I've never had such a tragic customer service experience. I've been getting tattooed for over 10 years in all sorts of places and countries and this was BY FAR the worst experience. I didn't even know it was possible to get treated so poorly in a shop. I wanted to support this business because it is Black woman run but IT WAS A HORRIBLE MISTAKE! I paid the $100 deposit (which unfortunately I never got back) & ended up walking out of the shop before the tattoo ever started THANK GOD I DID NOT GET TATTOOED HERE!! The owner was extremely rude, pushy & nasty. She had maintenance people working while my stencil was being placed & made me feel u comfortable about it & she was very loud & unpersonable like she was on drugs. I overheard that she had gotten her window busted & was installing security cameras, likely because I am not the first person she upset. When she started INSISTING on me paying for the tattoo before it even STARTED I knew I should leave so I did. It was a horrible experience & there's so many better shops and artists in the area. I went to this Elcectic tattoo shop on July 29, 2022, to originally get tattooed by Yoyo who unfortunately isn't there anymore. So the owner let the artist Victor do my tattoo.It was my first tattoo in remembrance of my father who committed suicide.I wanted a tattoo that said mom dad and Eye of Horus. The image I sent them looks nothing like what was tattooed.Not to mention the hieroglyphics aren't correct at all. It does not say anything. Please see the following images below & the line work is inconsistent. After properly following the aftercare instructions the work is still inconsistent. Not to mention that the artist didn't even wrap my arm after the tattoo which states in their after care instructions 1. Keep it protected your fresh tattoos was bandaged which it was not I went out to got my own bandage to write it up they only told me about the aquaform. My tattoo was not bandaged when I left out that shop. It is blown out and the ink is faded after about a week.The owner didn't even offer a refund but instead wanted to touch it up for free.After you messed up my skin you think I would let you touch me again?Absolutely not!I am going to have to pay a whole bunch of money to get this fixed when it should have been done right the first time.The owner does not care about giving the customers a great quality tattoo. Decided to get my second and third tattoo 22 years later. Needles to say I was completely nervous but played it off very well. Everyone was great, the owner was so kind and the artist took great care of me. The young lady that does piercings was my photographer as well. I got my first tattoo-- a name in script font-- here a couple weeks ago, and it looks perfect. Great price! The artist (I forget his name but he's from San Jose) has been doing tattoos for over 15 years, and he was professional in every way. He helped me re-position the stencil like 6 or 7 times until it was exactly where I wanted it. He worked pretty quickly once the actual tattooing started and it was basically pain free. Everybody who works in the shop is cool and made me feel comfortable. The owner, Roz, is especially nice and tries to do everything she can to take care of you. I came in on a random day and she got me scheduled for the next day and gave me a great price. Inside the shop is clean, the equipment is kept sterile, and they show you the new needles they will use for your tattoo. The chairs you sit in during the tattoo session are leather, comfortable, and give the shop a professional feel. There are several books with examples of each artist's work to help you choose who you want to work with, and get ideas for your own tattoos. I love this place!! My review is specifically for Al. I shopped around a bit before selecting him as my artist, and I'm so happy I did! I showed up with a bunch of examples of the Phoenix I've wanted for a few years. Al started drawing something up based on the parts I liked from each picture. I knew almost right away that he was an amazing artist. The drawing, although only 20 minutes in, was beautiful. Made an appointment, showed up a week later, had half of it done (about 4 hours). Showed up a week later for the 2nd half, and the drawing wasn't quite what I had in mind. I think there was a miscommunication somewhere along the line. But he went back to the drawing board, literally, and produced something that was perfect. No complaints from him, considering it took another hour for that drawing, maybe more. I felt bad but he assured and reminded me that he'd rather spend the extra time on exactly what I want instead of tattooing something I wasn't 100% crazy about. He is unbelievably talented, and a true professional. Not for one second did he ever make me feel rushed, and always made sure I was comfortable. And he's extremely reasonably priced, considering his extensive experience. The owner is cool too. And the few interns/shop helpers (?) I met were super nice. The younger chick even got me a frosty from Wendy's because it was hot and I seriously needed some sugar 2 hours into the 2nd half. Awesome!!! I can't recommend him or the shop enough. What surprised me more than anything is the fact that they took my appointment over the phone for that very same day- when NO ONE else would! I just wanted my previous tat gone. I didnt give the artist ALAN too much to work with, which I see now can be frustrating LoL... BUT he listened and drew out a few sketches and I fell in love with the very first one! DONT GO HERE Came last year with my cousin to get pierced and thought that the owner talking and running her mouth may have been a one time thing so we came back to support because we want to support black owned businesses. However when we got there its almost as though we had no voice. We came in with a vision and ended up changing it completely but ended up satisfied with the sketch. When my cousin went first she wanted me to grab her phone to take a picture, the owner said no one back here so I went back over to my seat and snapped a picture FROM my seat and she then says don't get me in the picture so I told her she wasn't in the pic and she said well don't record , at this point my phone is clearly pointing to the ground , told her I wasn't and she then says well stop recording and sit down, like I was her child. I just said alright thank you , and sighed and said Jesus Christ. She came back down stairs and said excuse me ? I told her I didn't know her name so I wasn't calling for her and she said but you just said a smart remark just because you think you spending $60 fonky dollars. By this point my cousin is about to get tattooed and she asked her why she was insulting our money it turned into a huge arguement her calling us bitches telling us not to come back, then tried to pacifier the situation by saying I won't come downstairs just come back in by then we were fed up and the other artist were trying to fix the situation but it was too late. The owner has HORRIBLE people skills and no professionalism at all whatsoever. And the worst part was we planned on spending MORE money to get our belly buttons pierced after our tattoos. Place is horrible!! 0 stars! The owner Roz is so unprofessional qnd just completely gives attitude. I seen a couple tattoos in the book and asked for the specific artist who did it for my work and she tells me they are no longer there, then says they aren't there right now. Then gets caught lying when I asked when they would be in?? Obviously they quit or something, but if thats the case why are you promoting their work still?? Then shes trying to CHOOSE my artist for me as if I have no choice who I could go to. I immediately shut her down. Then I ask her if she's an artist. (Being the owner I would expect that) she says yeah...then no? Wtf how are you a owner of a TATTOO shop and do not even know how to tattoo??? Or draw or peirce at that?? She then gets defensive an yells an tells me I need to leave and calls me a bunch of names. I tell her I forgot some of my things downstairs and she tells me no I didn't and does not even let me grab them and pretty much steals my belongings!! People please do not support this horribly ran business. Shame on this person for even opening something their not even qualified for. Just a money pig. I ended up going to The Plug around the corner and had the most amazing service! I highly recommend just going straight to them. At least they're qualified for what they do. read more
