This is a fun restaurant. Great location, food, and service. We got some oysters and shrimp while we waited. Food is really good. I got the Snapper Pontchartrain with Gouda Grits. It was outstanding. My meal was really filling. I recommend this restaurant and would eat here again.

We stopped at Phil's Marina Café for lunch on our way home from a night in New Orleans, and let me tell you--it was the perfect sendoff. I had the fried crawfish tails, and they were golden, crispy little bites of Louisiana heaven. Perfectly seasoned and fried just right--no grease puddles, just flavor and crunch. Malinda had the fried catfish strips with sweet potato fries, and she didn't say much once the food hit the table--which is how you know it was real good. That fish was flaky and tender inside with a cornmeal crust that could win awards, and those sweet potato fries were everything--crispy edges, soft centers, and just the right kiss of salt. We split a simple side salad with ranch (because you need something green when you're deep in fried seafood joy), and even that was fresh and cold, the kind of salad that doesn't feel like an afterthought. The ranch was so yummy. Phil's is casual, friendly, and full of folks who know how to feed you right. It's the kind of place where you feel like you've been before--even if it's your first time. Our server was amazing!

We were looking to try another seafood restaurant on our way to the New Orleans airport so this was our first time at this place. We arrive at 11 when they open. There was already a line at the door. We tried a couple dozen raw oysters, crab claws, and crab cake. It was all delicious! I keep getting shells in my oysters but my husband did not so we will be back. It was probably a fluke. Our server was great! Great place to stop for seafood. Enjoy!

This is a really great place to dine! The panoramic views are gorgeous. They have lots of seating and can accommodate groups large or small. The menu offers a wide variety of delicious options. I chose the blackened red snapper with the house salad and the steamed veggies. The meal was excellent. The portion was perfect and the price was appropriate. The employees are all friendly and upbeat. They provided excellent service for our visit. We will definitely be back!

We first got there there was a wait. So we went walk down the pier. When we got called for our table 2 servers were annoyed bc we had to sit at a big table vs a small one. The female server was like why they have to sit there and the male server said it's bc that's what they were told. Immediately my husband and I was like oh goodness here we go. The guy sat us and said that the big table was all they had. We said it's ok we don't mind it. The girl comes to persuade us that we can move to a smaller table. We told her it's fine. We got the vibe that she was mad we were sat there bc she could have had a larger party. Well waited 15 minutes til a guy came to ask us if we got our drink orders in. We said Nope! So the girl came back to apologize and you can tell she was trying to make up for her time she didn't wait on us. It was our first time there and didn't expect the service to be bad bc we've heard great things. All that aside the food was great.

I want to like this place, I really do, but every time I come here I'm underwhelmed. Twice I've gotten fish dishes - once was fish tacos, and more recently the house special Mahi Marliene - where the fish was dry. I really dislike dry meat and fish, so maybe I'm more sensitive/picky about than average, but surely in a dish advertised as a house special, the fish shouldn't be dry. Yes, the stuffing and buttery spinach mostly offset the fish, but I shouldn't have had to rely on other components to offset the main component's shortcomings. Service is usually decent and the location is nice - it has a canal/water view - but unless I'm in a group that chooses to go there, I doubt I'll return.

Went kayaking and this was a perfect chill lunch on the way back to New Orleans! Quick and great service. Started with 12 oysters for $15, they tasted good but prepare for some shell in them (although isn't that part of the experience) they brought many lemons which was appreciated. The fried crawfish tails are local and were delicious with sweet potato fries. The shrimp Maria pasta had 10 jumbo shrimp which was a lot of shrimp, the sauce was very plain wish there was more to it.

Traveling for work and a friend recommended this local restaurant. Kristin was excellent at making sure my first visit was very good. She was friendly and had some great recommendations. I started with a cup of corn and crawfish chowder. It was very tasty. My entree was Mahi Marliene with gouda grits as a side. Delicious. Meal also came with a salad. I got the crème brûlée to go. Nice views of the water from my table. Definitely recommended.

Absolutely delicious shrimp platter! Food was piping hot. Took my dad for his birthday. He had the oysters which he loved.

Food was fantastic. I ordered the eggplant boat and my Husband had the fried shrimp. Everything was delicious. Our waitress was Sue. She was very good. I drink a lot of water and she kept my glass filled. She was very observant of our needs. read more

We love Phil's - today was no exception! The butterfly shrimp on our fried shrimp platter were perfectly fried, plentiful and priced very reasonably. Our server, Katelyn is a rockstar and Phil's is so lucky to have her!! She turned a great meal into an exceptional experience - we'll be asking for her on future visits. The food was good and the service even better. The seafood platter could have been more plentiful. I had 4 shrimp 3 oysters and 4 little fish tenders. The deliciousness of the food compensated for the small quantity. Overall I will definitely give this Cafe a second visit to explore the menu again but will not order the seafood platter. read more

Waterfront dining is my favorite way to dine and Phil's is right on the water. Seafood is definitely my favorite cuisine and there's plenty of great seafood being served up here. I was in the mood for crawfish recently...no surprise...and a quick call to Phil's confiimed they had them and off we headed. We walked in, were seated right away overlooking our lovely lake and prepared to dig in. Their crawfish are hot, spicy and fat. You can't go wrong here ordering mud bugs. I love the atmosphere as well. The table next to ours were old school New Orleans guys who are now Northshore guys discussing Leidenhimer bread. It doesn't get more southern than that. When you're done eating I suggest taking your leftover bread or fries and feeding the ducks in the lake. read more

The locals have this charming restaurant on their go to list. It's usually packed and the servers will easily overlook new people to wait on their favorite customers. I have noticed that The servers aren't always friendly to out of towners but stop and chat to the customers they know. The food has been average for lunches, and it takes awhile to get your drinks served, but the drinks are worth the wait, not so much the food. I take my crowd to enjoy the view, it's a very nice view. read more

We were recommended to check out Phil's Marina for some amazing food and we were not disappointed. We loved everything! Amazing family friendly restaurant with excellent food and service. Local dishes and fresh seafood in season. They feature raw oysters and alligator bites. Restaurant is on the waterfront and beautiful docks. You can come by water or automobile. Staff is great. read more

Great little stop while on the way to New Orleans. Fresh food, good service, nice views, and great prices. The mhai tacos were so good with lots of flavor. Get the creole vinaigrette for the salad. It was busy but we were sat immediately. read more

Don't waste your time/money. What a joke. The ONLY thing good about this place are the views. Wait staff doesn't care about service. At all. Act bored and put out. I wonder what the customer service lesson was like for these girls. Pathetic. And something in the oil or seasoning or shrimp tasted like metal. One bite and that's it. The "assistant manager" argued that it was fine. Imagine . Well, it's Slidell. Was stupid to trust the reviews. read more

Been here numerous times now, and at different times. Towards dinner, it's gonna get packed so be forewarned. Even sitting at the bar, I've got people standing behind me waiting to get drinks while thy wait for a table. Every single bartender I've had are absolutely friendly! They never let you go without a drink in front of you. The food is good. Had the cheeseburger twice and always cooked to order. Mahi tacos are amazing., the new Seafood nacho plate is yummy and I always walk out full! Oh and you will get full on those huge ass mozerralla sticks. Don't forget, draft beer is ICE cold... and I'm not kidding about ICE as it forms in and out of the glass!! read more

The shrimp and grits were out of this world! They were drizzled with a clear reaux of bacon, tomatoes, green onions, & jalapeños. Just added a perfect kick! The shrimp Po'boy was big and very tasty. The tartar sauce is different and thick. I can't put my finger on what it is that it has but it's very good! Can't wait to come back again when we are passing through! We were driving through and saw that this restaurant had good reviews. I'm so glad we came by! We came just before 5 and were able to get a table by the window and watched a beautiful sunset. Besides the beautiful view, the food was so delicious! My husband loved his Mahi-mahi and I had fried catfish strips. I never had catfish so tender that melts in your mouth! We will definitely be returning! I do suggest coming early, because by the time we left it was starting to get crowded. read more

Went on Sat night. Was about a 45 min wait but expected. Was seated and the waitress was very rude. Ordered appetizers of crab cake and Au gratin, both were good. Wanted soft shells crabs and were told they are to small so can't serves, had fish, it was dry and salty. Mac and cheese was dry with only cheese on top. Upon entering today I was told to seat where ever I wanted to so I sat by the windows facing the beautiful harbor in Eden Isle and all the docked boats and piers such a beautiful & incredible view i could hear the sea gulls when I got out my car I loved it. Now once inside I was expecting to see a hostess or host but there wasn't one. I ordered a sweet iced tea and for a appetizer I had a half dozen Royal Red Shrimp which are a special variety that are only found in deep cold gulf waters from mobile to Florida and unlike. the typical shrimp they taste like lobster and are uniquely sweet and tender. They were amazing they were also cooked perfectly and served with clarified butter and lemon which was good but I'm more like I need cocktail sauce and the cocktail sauce here was xtra yummy lots of horseradish. My entree was Softshell Kaitlin OH My Goodness This could quite possibly be the best thing I've tasted in 58 years and to think I almost ordered the seafood platter instead. The Softshell Kaitlin was a fried huge soft shell crab ( cleaned and seasoned perfectly ) sitting atop a big mound of spaghetti noodles and everything was topped with a delicious Cajun crawfish and artichoke heart cream sauce. They didn't skimp on anything here the crawfish tails must of had at least 1/2 cup or maybe a whole cut of Louisiana crawfish tails and a lot of artichoke hearts not just little jibs I'm talking nice big hearts the entire dish was perfect and there was plenty of creamy sauce as well. My waitress well she was almost invisible only got 1 refill and it wasn't from her. I was gonna get a slice of key lime pie for dessert and a cup of coffee but when I finally saw her she was sitting my check on the table so I just paid out and skipped out on dessert. If the food wouldn't of been so amazingly delicious I would of taken off a star but the food was that good ! read more

I recommended that my girlfriend and I go to Phil's after our walk. I had enjoyed this place for the past 5 years so it was a great choice. We both ordered fried shrimp with Gouda grits. The grits tasted watered down and lacked the gouda taste. I asked the waitress if I could swap the grits for fries. It seemed reasonable. I was told that the restaurant was cutting down on making changes. She left and an older lady, probably a manager, came over. She didn't introduce herself but instead asked about the food. I asked if I could change the grits for fries. She proceeded to ask my friend if she liked her grits. She basically said (paraphrasing) that since you ordered it we are not changing. She left and came back stating the cook used the same recipe. I ordered the fries. I considered my request to be reasonable. She didn't know if I was a new customer and it seemed like it didn't matter. Although I have not been there in a while, I ALWAYS recommend family, friends, and strangers there when asked about a good place to eat. I will no longer recommend Phil's nor will I go there again. read more

I had the spinach dip with home made chips delish. I chose the seafood platter which was loaded with fried shrimp, catfish, oysters, and stuffed crab. The batter was very flavorful. The menu has a lot to offer salads, po boys, fried seafood (including soft shell crab), and they also had some signature daily specials like Mahi Mahi topped with crawfish and mushrooms. Drove to Slidell hoping to eat at a favorite restaurant that was unexpectedly closed. Found Phil's Marina Cafe and couldn't have been happier.
