I got hosed by these guys. I reached out in March. I wanted irrigation, landscaping, and lighting…read more They communicated ok, but they move so slow. All along I was telling them that I wanted this done before pool season. I already have the pool and patio (the hard stuff). I wanted to get the finishing touches with plants, lights, and the irrigation. Took weeks to get a design that you have to pay for ($500). All along I said I had $25k budget and they kept telling me they could make it work. Then after we settled on the design they said they had to get a quote for the irrigation (they outsource it), that took another three weeks. Then another three weeks to get the estimate which came in at $39k. Way over budget. They tried to get me to do it in pieces some this year and next because it was so over budget. They said that they underestimated the irrigation. But that was 7k, which means they were over budget before that while all along they were leading me on that they could do the project for my budget. They said they were a bigger company with marketing, a design team, HR, etc which is why they charge a bit of a premium compared to the mom and pop shops. Then my wife wanted to just do it despite my not liking how things were going, so I was going to go with it rather than start over with another search and miss the summer. So I asked when could we start and they said mid-July. That was it. I started this with them in early March, they took forever every step of the way, then they were like this is their busy season. But mid July, the summer is over then I have to deal with that mess during pool season. Never had they told me they couldn't do it early despite me constantly asking and saying I wanted this done before pool season (mind you, it was unseasonably cold for all of May so pool season started later than normal). That was it. They lost my confidence and I felt like they were not being straight with me. Then they blamed it on the new kid I was working with and maybe it was him, but that's their problem that they didn't train him better or stay on top of him while he was learning. But at the end of the day I asked the guy who cuts my grass weekly if he could do the landscape work and he did it; and did a great job (started the next week). I found AV Lighting And Irrigation on Yelp, he did a great job and worked with my landscaper to coordinate the projects. I was done in literally three weeks. Started talking to Mondo and AV in mid May, and was completely done in mid June. Project turned out fantastic, so with the $500 for the POE design, my entire project costs $24k. So under budget. POE's value prop was I pay the premium with them because they handle everything and I get this project managed white glove project, but what I got was delay, over budget, wasted time, and a good design. But if I'm being honest I could've got a similar design from Fiverr and used Mondo and AV and would've been fine. Maybe POE would've done a great job, but they couldn't get out of their own way and they were not worth what they were charging. 24k vs 39k, and I added more sprinkler heads, and the parkway, added more landscape and pergola lights...you decide? I included the finished project photos to prove that they other guys did a great job and I'm not just blasting POE. I'm fair and I don't doubt they'd have done a good job, they dropped the ball with my project.

Accepted their offer, never got communication on when they were coming, some guys just showed up one day and started the spring cleanup. About halfway done, they told me it was going to be twice the cleanup and almost twice the mulch needed to complete the job, and the entire job would be 35% higher than they originally estimated. I didn't enjoy being given one price, then being given a higher price once the work started. I ended up letting another company do the mulch installation and edging. They did a good job with the spring cleanup, but ended up paying 55% more for the spring cleanup than what I was originally quoted. I gave them the opportunity to finish the job if they matched their competitors price, but they couldn't do it.

Aside from leaving heavy machinery running and unattended in residents' backyards, the scheduling…read moreis incredibly inconsistent. I'm a dog owner (as are many other residents), and the fact that we cannot count on this crew to arrive at a consistent time each week is incredibly stressful. Since they take TWO FULL DAYS to mow our portion of the neighborhood, this means we're effectively unable to enjoy the use our backyards for two days out of the week. Since the yards are also cared for piecemeal (ex. Someone cuts, someone else comes by an hour or two later and edges, then someone else comes by after another hour or two and blows), we have no way of knowing who will be entering our yards at any given time; the whole practice seems to be for the benefit of padding hours. A bit of forethought, organization and common courtesy would go a long way to solve these issues.

I used the term loosely since it is not a true rental property that yielded any type of profit. So I'll just refer to them as occupants. Lol. This being the case, it did not make any sense for me to pay for landscape maintenance and was the responsibility of the occupants. They kept up with the lawn, but eventually the weeds took over the beddings / brick pavers and the trees / shrubs were not maintained. We recently made a decision that it was time to put the house market but before that can happen, there were several projects that were suggested by our real estate agent that would help increase our house value. One of those projects being the landscape. A month ago I contacted several landscaping companies requesting a quote via Yelp. John from American Artists Landscaping (AAL) was the first person to reply (on a Sunday). A service estimator was sent out to our property and an official estimate was emailed the following day. AAL wasn't even my first choice because when I did a "landscaping" search, they show up as #23, I'm glad that AAL was one of the companies I checked off to request a quote. One company actually gave me an estimate based on the Yelp quote request with no property assessment. Needless to say, we found the estimate to be very reasonable and accepted John's proposal. I had a little misunderstanding about when the project would be completed, but that was completely my fault. While I did not see the landscape in person, it's very apparent how much the curve appeal improved. The weeping tree looks interesting after the dead limps were removed, but it is an improvement from before. If you've ever done landscaping, it's a tough job and it would have taken me at least a week to complete on my own. The crew did it in one day. While we only utilizes his service for landscape maintenance, AAL is a full service landscaping company. And while I'm sure he has much larger accounts than the project on my property, he still gave the same amount of attention and gratitude for my business. There is a currently a $300 for $500 Yelp offer as well that I was able to utilize. John is profession, quick to respond, and has been in business for over 20 years. I'm hoping my house sells fast, however if additional maintenance is required, I won't hesitate to contact John for our future landscaping needs.

Not Recommended -- Poor Communication and Unresolved Work…read more When we purchased our new construction home, the builder identified a drainage issue in our backyard. After we moved in, the builder arranged for Green Day Pro Landscaping to address the drainage-related work at the same time we hired them for additional landscaping and sod installation. Our portion of the landscaping project was approximately $11,000, and we paid Green Day Pro Landscaping in full on the day the work was completed. However, the builder did not pay Green Day for the sod portion of the project. Unfortunately, Green Day has allowed the payment dispute with the builder to affect us, even though we fulfilled our financial obligation and paid our invoice in full. We have made numerous calls and sent emails regarding issues with the work that Green Day installed. Appointments have been scheduled, only for them not to show up, and the problems remain unresolved. The situation became even more concerning when the owner decided to show up at our home without an appointment to perform the work. When my husband asked him to leave because there was no scheduled appointment, the owner stated that we did not need to be home for him to complete the work. We strongly disagree with that approach. This is our private property, and any work should be scheduled and coordinated with the homeowners in advance. At this point, Green Day has effectively abandoned its responsibility to correct issues with work that it installed improperly, leaving us to find another company to make the necessary repairs. We paid our portion in full and expected professional communication, scheduled appointments, and quality workmanship. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience. Based on our experience, we do not recommend Green Day Pro Landscaping.
