We hired College Hunks (Naperville, IL) for a local move between two homes that were only about five minutes apart. Before the move, we answered detailed questions about the size of the homes, the number of rooms, and what needed to be moved. Based on that information, we were given an estimate of approximately 6 hours of work and an expected cost of around $2,000. The reality was very different. The move ended up taking approximately 13 hours--more than double the estimate--and our final bill was nearly $4,000. We were told the extra time was due to a two-story walk-up and a blocked alley entrance, but these explanations do not justify such a massive difference from the estimate we were given. The men on the team also did not inform anyone that they were going on break and we have no idea when they started/stopped their break. To make matters worse, several items were damaged during the move: * The back panel of a dresser was damaged. * The center support leg for that dresser was lost. * A small piano was broken. We submitted a damage claim during the first week of May and have repeatedly attempted to follow up. Despite numerous calls, we have received no meaningful update or resolution. At this point, the lack of communication has been just as frustrating as the damage itself. I understand that estimates can change and that moving is difficult work. What I do not understand is how a move can take more than twice as long as estimated, result in damaged property, and then be followed by weeks of silence when a claim is submitted. All we have asked for is a fair resolution regarding the damages and a reasonable review of the charges. Instead, we have been left chasing answers. Based on our experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering this company to get every detail in writing, ask detailed questions about how charges are calculated, and carefully document the condition of all belongings before the move.

We agreed and he wrote it down as part of our quote. After being told 3 different times that he would come on a certain day or sometime that week, still we had no one come. The one time he offered to come we said we were out of town, but that they could do it anyways and he responded, "we can do when you're back. We're normally extremely busy but will find an early day open." They had no problem taking out the "paid" part of the job almost immediately, but now after 2 months of waiting for the trees to be removed, Jeremy, the owner, told us to "go buy a shovel I'm not interested in doing it." Therefore, not completing the job that was agreed upon and in writing. Jeremy is extremely unprofessional and unreliable. We were willing to pay for this from the start, which is why we contacted him in the first place. All we wanted was for the trees to be taken out and now Jeremy is sending us text messages saying "I just want to say thanks for the nice review. Do you think I'm a deceptive sales person to get your measly $600 you don't know this but I'm worth about 10 million I was going to help you dig those trees up or cut them off at the base it didn't matter to me this was to help you out for the free service. You can pay online, and they send you notification before they come out. Great (simple) communication, good price, and prompt work. I will be signing up for their annual plan now because of this.
