The tree was cut during that process, and there did not appear to be active oversight of the crew at that moment. My neighbors did not request that my tree was cut, as they were not even aware it was being cut. Roman did not come to us to speak with us or ask permission before the tree on our property was cut. After noticing the issue, I spoke directly with the foreman, Roman. During that conversation, I was given several different explanations for why the cutting was not a concern. What was most upsetting to me was not only that my tree was cut while work was being done on another property, but the way my concerns were handled afterward. The situation was repeatedly minimized and I was told things like it "would grow back" and that I "had more privacy elsewhere in the yard." His responses felt unprofessional, and it felt like my concerns were not taken seriously. Instead of feeling heard, I felt as though I shouldn't be as upset as I was. After I walked away, I was also told by my husband that Roman referenced a past situation involving a property line dispute and court involvement. I can't speak to that situation, but it added to my confusion about why it was brought up in relation to my concerns.

Home Depot, what would I do without you? From appliances (long story from a previous review in…read moreWisconsin Rapids), lawn mowers, power tools, mowers, chainsaws, plumbing and flooring. Your aisles make home improvement look so easy, sometimes true, other times not so much. You make me want to channel my inner Tool Time. Sometimes my projects have turned out like Tim the Toolman Taylor did them without Al Borland there to bail him out. My lovely bride a huge fan of HG TV, is always the optimist. She has another project for me, flooring. (If you're reading this review and are scratching your head not getting these references, Google the 90's TV show Tool Time) So what started out as a trip to look for a new chainsaw (hockey mask optional) has turned into another addition to my never ending honey do list. As you can tell, we have many samples to sort through. Once Connie decides on which sample she likes, it will be time to place an order. The staff has been extremely helpful. They have showed us what tools we can either rent or purchase to complete the project. They even gave the option of getting an estimate from one of their installers to see which option would work best for us, do it yourself of professional installation. Once I decide..... ok, who am I kidding..... my wife decides which option we/she decides on, I'll update my review. So far the Home Depot Staff has been outstanding and perhaps this may turn into a 5 star review. Stay tuned.... same bat time... same bat channel.....

Amazing response after August's derecho in New Lenox. Our prize 45+ year old massive linden tree…read morewas twisted by the wind and the trunk was split in half. At risk of falling on the house in the next storm, and unable to be climbed due to the precarious nature of the damage, Homer Tree showed up with 4 trucks and a master crew who used a crane and bucket truck to safely saw through the trunk and lift the entire canopy out in two enormous sections, which went right into the chipper. They cut out the rest of the trunk, ground down the stump and the last guy on site used a rake to pick up every last stick and leaf. 45 minutes of extraordinary professionalism. These guys know their stuff. We were extremely sad to lose our amazing, beloved tree but glad we didn't have to worry about or home or property being damaged by inexpert removal. And we were very pleased with the pricing and response time, especially after a disastrous weather event. We heard some outrageous price-gouging quotes. Good to know the local guys are there for the community.

I completely understand that weather and storms can cause delays, especially with the number of storms we've had recently. However, the bigger issue has been the lack of communication. I never received any updates and had to repeatedly reach out myself for information. The office staff has been difficult to deal with and often comes across as dismissive. When I called today for an update, I was told the pruning was being looked at to be scheduled in October. I questioned the timing and decided to cancel. The tree has already started to shed since fall is around the corner. I want to be fair because I understand that weather related emergencies can and should take priority. My frustration is that there has been zero proactive communication throughout this process. These services aren't inexpensive, and as a customer, I shouldn't have to repeatedly call just to find out what is happening with a service I contracted and paid for months ago. Kayli was amazing and was very apologetic and helpful when I was able to communicate with her via email. Unfortunately, the office staff who answers the main line really tarnishes the overall experience with the company.
