I'm from Philly, don't ask why I was in Visalia, this is good. I was pleasantly surprised (or starving?), had the mushroom cheesesteak and I appreciate how hot and sloppy it was. My only suggestion, SEASON YOUR MEAT!! No one in CA seems to understand the meat needs some seasoning, the peppers/onions/mushrooms aren't enough, you need to salt that meat. read more

I remember back in high school, getting in debates with fools about the best burger in Visalia, this place was in the top.... not anymore! They've gone through at least 3 different owners in the past 10 years and you could tell. The burgers aren't as fresh, the cheesesteak isn't cut the same...they over do it with their balsamic vinegar. Just a damn shame. But you know what ya'll?!?! Not for me. My husband and I got 2 classic philly cheesesteaks and they were not good. The best was not flavored or seasoned well and several bites were too chewy from fat and gristle. They also don't have french fries but have potato salad and chips. My husband got the potato salad and said it was not good. The whole thing was also very greasy. It left us unsatisfied and we will definitely not be returning. read more

EXCELLENT. I had the chicken cheesesteak and my husband had the beef cheesesteak. Both sandwiches were delicious. They have a hamburger patty on the grill and it was huge, maybe try a burger next time. Chili beans are a great side. We sat outside on the back patio. We'll this place makes some greasy sandwiches but it's only mediocre. I ordered the mushroom Philly. The roll was soft and warm. The meat was soft and tender without any much gristle, however did not taste like it was seasoned. The meat was kinda bland. The cheese was nice and Felty and good. Onions were grilled nicely and were delicious. The mushrooms...well I think I counted two slices of mushrooms in my "mushroom" Philly. Oh I got a side of potato salad. It was kinda watery and bland. I had to season it with salt and pepper. The location was cool. It's on main street by all the antique shops, next to free parking. I liked the decor of the shop. It was 104 outside and there is no A.C. inside just a couple of fans blowing hot air around. All in all I would come back again. All other Philly sandwiches I've tried in Visalia are way below this sandwich. If they would season the meat a little more this place would be a 5 star in my book. read more

Having been to Philadelphia and actually eaten a philly cheese steak at Jim's on South Street (prob most famous philly cheeseteak place), I can say that the philly cheesesteak at Philly's in Visalia is excellent. We found this place on a whim, as we drove to a friend's wedding in Visalia. I yelped on my phone as we drove on the freeway and happily found this gem. It looks small from the outside, but actually has a pretty generous seating area. It's a quick and cheap place and the server was very friendly. There are other things on the menu besides the philly cheesesteak, but why not try one of these if you're in town? It's an excellent meal that doesn't leave you too stuffed to move, which I liked, as we had a wedding to attend immediately after we ate. read more

Very solid steak based sandwich shop. It's a small mom and pop store and they are efficient. I got the bbq steak and cheese with a side salad. Man was that salad dressing good! It was a balsamic based vinaigrette and loaded with herbs. The sandwich was stacked with meat and grilled to order. The bbq sauce was o.k. but nothing spectacular. My friend got the Philly and it was well balanced with meat, veggies and cheese. While in Visalia I will definitely go again. My only quips are the bbq sauce and the Colombo rolls.
