I ordered three sandwiches and waited for a take out order. When my number was called there were only 2 sandwiches. I checked my receipt and the receipt was for 2 sandwiches but I ordered 3. I ordered another sandwich and paid and waited again. When we arrived home the 3rd sandwich didn't have the correct ingredients and there was no cheese. I cannot say my first experience at Charlies Cheesesteaks was a complete miss because of their amazing staff. Every employee I interacted with was very helpful and seemed genuinely concerned for any needs, but the main point of dinner is the food. I had the opportunity to try two sandwiches on their menu, (Chicken California and Chicken Teriyaki) but unfortunately was not what I was expecting. Neither sandwich had any real flavor, even with the Teriyaki sauce soaking through the sandwich it lacked any real flavor. With many other great options around town, I don't see myself picking Charleys again any time soon. read more

Given that this is a chain of restaurants that specializes in Philadephia-style cheesesteaks and other grilled sandwiches, I generally expect Charley's to be the same no matter where I go. For some reason, the sandwich I got at this location (a philly steak deluxe) wasn't up to par. They probably didn't add the usual amount of meat I get in a regular size. Add to that the disinterested look of the employees while cooking my sandwich, and it felt like an ordeal ordering food there. In fact, they said that they would call my number instead of me just waiting next to the food being cooked (and I was the only one ordering there at the time!) Then again, the other food choices at the mall aren't such a joy to choose from and didn't look appetizing. At least the food is freshly cooked here. read more

Hats off to the cook and cashier. I was waiting for Charley's to open when I heard a bunch of teenagers chatting and laughing, making me wonder: "What the, are they all cutting school?" However, it looks like they were on a choir trip or something (wearing all black). I shuttled my butt to Charley's before the swarm overwhelmed the staff. I ordered a chicken teriyaki sandwich with no cheese. Despite the deluge of orders and severe multitasking involving mulitple orders, the cashier and cook handled everything with happy smiles. Was driving down the 198 and needed a place to eat. I came across the Visalia Mall and decided that I wanted to eat something at the food court. With such a large selection of places to eat at, I found myself wanting everything-- anything sounds good when you're hungry, am I right?-- and soon I decided I would try somewhere I've never been to before, Charley's Grilled Subs. I first came across Charley's and found a rather welcoming cashier ready to take my order. I have never eaten at Charley's so I asked the cashier, who seemed to have this mesmerizing smile, for recommendations. Soon enough I was given a Bacon 3 Cheese Meal including fries and a soda (in which I substituted for their specialty blueberry lemonade). I was absolutely grateful for the cashier's recommendation as I started to eat the meal. I had the option of adding seasoning to my fries, in which I took advantage of in order to provide more flavor to my crispy, fresh fries. The specialty blueberry lemonade surprised me as Charley's includes actual blueberries into my lemonade that gives a much more unique and refreshing component to the drink. The main entree, the Bacon 3 Cheese, was absolutely phenomenal. I loved how the sandwich was full of different, unique flavors from a variety of cheeses, how the bacon provided a savory taste to compliment the saltiness of the cheeses, and how the crunchy, buttery bread component helped to pull the whole sandwich into one delightful experience. I really would like to thank whoever the cashier was for providing me with such an amazing sandwich, and I would now like to try everything else on the menu. My daughter and I came here on May 1,2017. There was a long line that took awhile.A lady took my order. 2 large Philly Cheesesteaks with meat, onions, bell peppers, provolone cheese.I added lettuce, tomatoes and mayo. 2 small fries and 2 drinks. It was all $28. As we waited the workers were talking to each other. After 20 minutes we got our food. Everything was hot. The food is good and didn't have to wait long. My complaint is that i ordered a kids meal and forgot to ask for ranch nor was I asked if I would like a dipping sauce for my son chicken strips. I had never heard of "Charley's." I simply logged on looking for a good sandwich shop nearby my current location. Within the distance I wanted to drive, Charley's had the highest rating. So, I trusted my fellow "yelpers" and headed out. I'll be honest... I was expecting a hometown, privately-owned sandwich shop. What I found was a chain-shop in the middle of a mall food court. If I were basing this review on what I had "hoped for" it would be much different. If you are foodie-snob (which, depending on the situation, we all can be at times) you will not like this place at all - there are no "mild, hints of herbs" or anything like that to be pretentious about. But, that's not fair to Charley's - they are what they are. The food was prepared EXACTLY the way I ordered it. It was done so quickly and served very hot! I purchased a "regular size combo" and it was more than enough food for the average person. Bottom line...
