A local bakery provides the pastries and they are all made with attention to detail, like little real violets on the iced bundt cakes. This was my second visit through Litiz, PA and was glad to have had time to stop in. Wilbur factory, located across the street is no longer in operation , since 2016. The factory was turned into a hotel with restaurants in 2019. The hotel esthetics were kept from the factory, with a few other artifacts, the walk across the street is highly recommended. Wilbur , chocolate shop simply gourmet since 1884. Their signature , is their Wilbur buds, which when I first tried them thought were for baking. Wow, was I wrong, the helpful clerk told me they were for eating. Wilbur buds reminded me of Hershey kisses, but 100 percent better, based on ones palet. Inviting atmosphere, where your able to see chocolate production, taste test, shop and watch a video on the coco history of Wilbur. A must visit.

I visited the Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery this past Sunday when I was passing through Lititz…read more Julius Sturgis founded the bakery in 1861, and it's still family-owned today (although they now bake their pretzels at a modern facility outside Lititz). For $6 (for adults), you can experience a 25-minute tour. It includes a lesson on the history of Julius Sturgis and his pretzel bakery, the chance to twist your own pretzel (they give you a piece of dough and you can twist it, but it doesn't get baked - fair enough, some were pretty ugly), a look at the old ovens (they use pizza ovens now), and a bag of pretzels for a snack. It might be a little kitschy, but our tour guide was very nice and it was fun to experience a little Lititz history while passing through town! Even if you don't want to do a tour, you can stop inside the old factory, pick up a soft pretzel, and do some shopping in their gift shop - but it was a fun experience!
