If I had to pick a "comfort spot" in Lancaster County, Zig's would win every time. This place is…read moreone of my favorite lunch stops, the kind where you walk in already knowing exactly what you're ordering because it never misses. I get the tuna melt every single time, and listen... their tuna is unreal. Perfectly seasoned, not too mayo-heavy, toasted just right it's basically my emotional support lunch at this point. I also never skip the seasonal drink special. Today's was the apple chai-der and it was so cozy and delicious. Their drink specials always feel like you're sipping the current season through a mug. Zig's also has an entire cooler/freezer wall packed with soups, applesauce, and grab-and-go meals. My all-time favorite soup is the Tomato Pepper Jack absolutely phenomenal. If you see it, grab two. Trust me. The bakery case? Dangerous. Cupcakes, pies, whoopie pies, parfaits... it's basically dessert heaven behind glass. And then there's my holy grail: the Buffalo Cauliflower. It's a rare find, and when I spot it I buy it in full apocalypse-prep quantities. No regrets. Between the rustic vibe, great coffee, incredible baked goods, and comfort-food lunches, Zig's is one of those places you keep coming back to because it just feels good and tastes even better. Highly recommend!

Yesterday I bought a small shepherds pie for dinner plus ham balls for tonight's dinner. The…read morechicken noodle soup is in the fridge for this weekend. My husband ate almost the entire shepherds pie by himself...he was hungry and it's good. I just finished eating a chocolate mint cupcake that was so tasty. Their chocolate croissants are fabulous as well. Service was friendly and speedy yesterday. I was there at 4pm so I have found they are less busy at that time of day when I want to buy things to take home. If I lived closer to Zig's I would probably be there more often, but as it is, I am still thankful it's only a 30 minute drive from my home.

I was shocked since they have a full store of tea varieties within a 3 minute walk. It just didn't make much sense to me. I like to have a good tea selection to choose from. I do like that they kept our pots filled with free refills. The food was ok. Their signature sweet is a crème brûlée. That was the star of the show in my opinion. Everything else seemed rather average this visit. I've had better experiences in the past and will go back based on past experiences.

In full disclosure, I am a bit of a tea snob when it comes to tearooms. I was excited to visit…read morethis establishment. I planned my visit in advance making the necessary required reservation. Although making the reservation was no easy task. I ended up making several phone calls and leaving several messages along with an online inquiry before someone contacted me to schedule the reservation. I was not real pleased with the process but my reservation was confirmed. Note: There is both a tea shop and the tearoom. Both are located in downtown Lititz. These are not the same buildings. Each has its own unique phone number(s). The interior decoration of the tearoom is quaint with plenty of seating for small or large groups. I liked the cozy feel of the rooms. Tables were pre-set with mix and match teacups, a tea timer, and tea condiments. The settings were cute and appropriate for a tearoom. I was disappointed in the tea selections. All tea varieties were represented but there were only one or two options for each type of tea. I would have expected more of a selection on the menu considering the amount of tea varieties in the tea shop. During my visit, they ran out of at least one of the black teas. The servers could have mentioned this before taking tea orders and forcing the customers to make a quick second tea choice. The choices were already limited. I don't think you should be running out of tea. And if you do run out, can you please inform the customer. Maybe have an alternate option available. I selected a green tea from the menu along with the Afternoon High Tea. The tea was served with the tea bag in the pot forcing me to time the steep of the tea. This was not really a problem since I am a tea drinker but to be honest, I didn't like that I needed to time my own tea. Tea can easily be over or under steeped especially if you are trying a new tea and do not know the proper steep time. I would have preferred if the tea had been steeped in advance before it was served to me eliminating the possibility of an improper brew and bitter tea. The food was okay. The raspberry scone was delicious. I would have liked if it had been served with more condiments instead of only the lemon curd. I was disappointed with the tea sandwiches. There was only really one sandwich served. The rest were open faced sandwiches which consisted of a round of bread with some type of topping. The desserts were all delicious. I especially liked the creme brulee and the cake. The food was good but not exceptional. Overall I was disappointed with my visit and will probably not be visiting again anytime soon.
