I asked for a quote on a roof leak, and the friendly owner, Gavin, was able to fit me in surprisingly soon, even though the rainy season had started. He was nice enough to squeeze me in just before a nearby job. Within just a few minutes, Gavin had determined the cause of my roof leak. I showed him where in the house it was leaking, and he made a few measurements. Then, to the roof. Whilst he was on the roof, he took a photo of the problem so he could show me when he returned to Earth. He showed me where a pipe collar had become worn, and was letting the rain seep in. In just a few minutes the entire thing was fixed. Gavin made it look simple, but it's really due to his experience. And now, the rest of the story: While Gavin was up on the roof, he noticed one gutter was completely clogged up. It was so clogged, I could have grown trees in the rain gutter. Anyway, while he was up there he cleaned it out totally for me. The gutters work fantastic now. That saved me from having to call someone to clean out the gutter. That's what I call great service! After years of "who needs a new roof?", we finally decided to get it replaced. Phillips Roofing & Repair replaced it for us. They did an excellent job. Gavin came over and checked out our roof, and told us everything that needed to be repaired in conjunction with the replacement. He gave us a very complete estimate. When it was time to get the work done, it was like clock work. He told us beforehand every step, and what to expect for each day. He was right on the money. After it was done, our house looked brand new! He even rebuilt our chimney! I thought it was 'supposed' to look like Paul Bunyan sat on it. After Gavin finished with it, it was its own masterpiece! I will give a negative star if it exists. This guy Gavin is rude and is not at all fair and he is almost in the cheating category. I have asked him for a very small work (slight leak at the edge of the roof). not a major one. He repaired it and in the process created more leaks in new areas in my roof. I called him right away and he came and simply told me that the leak was already there. He right there lied to my face! There was no leak before, other wise I would have asked him to fix it as part of my initial work order. He told me there is no warranty in spite of me calling him right away and he refused to fix and asked me more money and also told me that there is no guarantee that he will fix my roof even if I paid additional money. I knew I didn't need all that because I had a leak repaired and gutters cleaned a few years before and there was no mention of any other needed repairs or maintenance. During the storms in Jan 2018, my roof had some leaks. I called several roofing companies. Some are too busy to schedule any visit within 2 weeks. One company sent a contractor to do the inspection, but you can tell he does not know what he is doing. This was the least expensive, but gave the best service that I could ever expect. We were between rainstorms, and working with Gavin Phillips, I was well taken care of. He was able to get the roof done within three days, and finished just before the first sprinkles of the next rainstorm. What a relief that was, because I'd had pans collecting water all over my office, which was where the leaks came through the ceiling. They put on a beautiful composition shingle roof, and removed the facia to install new gutters. My house is not only more secure from the weather, but it also looks wonderful. I'd had a gravel roof for over 40 years - actually it was gravel for the life of the house until then, with house being built in 1956. We had two gravel roofings done over the years we lived here, and I am just so happy with this composition shingle roof - both for the looks, and for the better coverage to prevent problems with the elements. This roof is expected to last for 30 years. My roof was not easy to do because of special problems with the design, and they did a fabulous job.
