This is a cute little park not far from the main street. The first time I came here, there were some trees with faces carved in them which was pretty cool. However, the last time I was there, I brought some friends and was disappointed to find that the trees were gone. There was however one great bear carving still there. Overall it's a nice little park, with lots of shade. But it is small.

The play structures are clean and plentiful. There are public restrooms, large trees and lots of lush grass. It feels quite safe.

My kids favorite park in Tehachapi! The playground has been updated and it's all new and huge!! I love that this place was entertaining for both my boys (ages 3 and 7). It's hard finding parks that they enjoy for a good amount of time, but this place did it! Yay! They have LOTS to offer and lots of green grass!!! It's a beautiful park!

The amazing Tehachapi Loop is an engineering wonder from the 1800s…read more I give my total respect for the sacrifices of the Chinese workers ( from my province I lived in in China- Guangdong) brought in by the thousands to create a loop whereby the train can gather enough steam to take on the extreme elevation of the route. We were told that there is no guarantee we would see a train pass by in the loop and that the narrow road offered no parking spaces. The road (according to multiple you tube videos) is winding through Bear Valley. It was not as horrofying as the road up to Julian in SoCal but still not my favorite thing to do. We decided not to go, went out for breakfast instead. Later I sneaked us out onto Woolford Tehachapi Road and took each guardrail-less turn with a crawl. We were rewarded at 11:00am on a Thursday morning to be the only people there at the lookout point and plaque. The air is intoxicating, the view so beautiful, and a very long train gave us the best experience!

It's free to visit the historical landmark recording this engineering feat, where you'll also have a good view of the loop. It's not guaranteed that you'll see a train pass by (I didn't!) but it's still worth seeing. Free admission and free parking at the historical marker.

The site can only be accessed by guided tours which are held two Saturdays per month during the spring and fall months. On the 1.5 mile walking tour you'll get to learn about the Kawaiisu people and how they used to live. You'll also learn about some of the native plants, such as the ephedra plant which was used to make a stimulating tea and the burned charcoal was used to make decorative tattoos. You'll get to see various bedrock mortars where the would crush acorns into their staple meal. You'll pass by large boulders covered in vibrant and colorful neon green and orange lichen. The tour ends at the Ceremonial Cave, also known as Creation Cave or the Teddy Bear Cave. It's really more of a rock shelter. Inside there are well preserved pictographs. The cave is said to be guarded by a supernatural grizzly bear that lives within the rock face that guards the cave from unworthy intruders. Overall it was a vary enjoyable visit. The tour starts at 8:30 AM at the Tehachapi Museum. After a 30 min orientation you'll caravan to the site. We got back to our car around 1pm. The fee for the tour is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 6- 16. There is also a $10 registration fee. You can call 661-946-6092 for tour information and reservations.
