Happy memories, all those kids are now grown and moved on to start their lives. This park was named after the founder of Tehachapi. It has the prettiest, tallest shade trees around. It has over 5 acres of grass, there is picnic tables, BBQ's, restrooms and a gazebo in the center of the park. You can rent the gazebo for $75.00 and a security deposit of $75.00. I have been to many parties in the park and the gazebo is really nice to set the food and gifts in. I personally know a couple people who were married in it. You can even rent out the full park for an event for $500 a day with a $1500 deposit. The playground is newly renovated and you always see happy kids running around. I have been here on multiple occasions and have seen kids in the late teens and young adults hanging out near the restrooms. They are definitely up to no good, We have seen small kids at the park themselves, I don't recommend that. This may be a small town but there is a drug problem and some of the people like to hang out here. So as long as the kids are supervised this is a nice place to spend some time. Many events are held here, Tehachapi Mountain festival, Tehachapi Old-timers Reunion, music in the park and also movies in the park. A trip to the antelope valley to visit the Poppy Preserve is always a fun relaxing thing to do when…read moreits not too busy. How busy the reserve is, is based on the bloom level and the time you come to the park. To beat the crowd, we visited the reserve when they opened at 7am on a weekday. And you may be treated to a beautiful sunrise at this time. Note, its also good to visit the park early in the morning due to the lack of shade. Unfortunately in 2026, and at the end of March we did not experience a super bloom within the reserve but still beautiful to walk through the reserve and see the various flowers, including the poppy flowers. Plus there are very well manicured trails that circle the park- please stay on the trails and off the flowers. Note it does cost 10 dollars for parking at the reserve. If you have a state park pass, bring it as can be used instead of paying. Note during super blooms and weekends the parking can get super busy. During this time you will find people parking outside of the park. If you do not want to pay to see the blooms in the park, there are plenty of places to view outside of the park. Just check out information online to find where the best blooms are. We actually found the blooms to be better outside of the park in 2026. Lastly, be on the look out for snakes. Three types of snakes are known at this park.

A father is teaching his youngest son how to 'hit one outta the park'. Small family barbeques are being planned and celebrated in the shade of one of the first-come-first-served gazebos. A future skateboard influencer is setting up a"live feed"for his tictoc fans. Cool Palmdale kids are practicing their 360s at the skateboard ramps and half pipe in the skate park. My favorite Instagram friend is practicing his free throw.... all the way from Greece?! Ok, maybe it just looked like him. This is a great place to practice your free throws! Old friends are playing a pick up game at the basketball courts. Future Lakers in the making! Kids are playing games, swinging on swings, sliding down slides, playing sports and .. musical instruments??!! Future rock stars can practice outdoor instruments here and out. Bring the band for an outdoor concert. There's a commemorative plaque in this park paying homage to Vietnam veterans. My dad served in the military during the Vietnam war, so I came to get a picture of the plaque for him. What a great park! I'm enjoying the weather, admiring everything and everyone. I brought my takeout to a nice table in the shade. Pandemic points! Every time I come to this park I get to trade smiles with somebody different. I moved to the area for a reason, the people. This park is located in an area of the Antelope Valley that looks like a country rap video directed by Clint Eastwood starring everyone. I traded hair compliments with the most beautiful little girls I've ever seen. Rainbow beads, you are my sunshine "No YOUR hair is prettier!" In return I got one of the best smiles in my life from their father. Why do I get something better back when I give a compliment, a hug or a smile! I don't know, but this park is a premier place to practice. I left with a skip in my step. A full tummy. Cool pictures. Great advice. And. The distinct impression that this place and one smile could change the world. I drove away playing "We can work it out" from Stevie Wonder. It's a little stretch of beach with a park area right about it. There is a parking lot but it's pretty small for the crowd it brings. Also, it's next door to vacation rentals I believe as well as homes that are literally around it along the waterfront. So let's put it out. It's basically a small little spot that does get busy and crowded depending on time. Parking can be very limited as it's not a big lot. Not sure if you can park along the street but who knows. It is well maintained with the manicured grassy area and planted garden. You also have access to the wharf with the dock area. Nothing major but a nice little walk down to the water. The view is quite beautiful. Pets are allowed which is nice but be smart and clean after them. Down to the side is the beach area. It too isn't that big of a stretch but is pretty much a bay. Of course there's the boulder which I'm sure where the name comes from. Just be cautious if you're going to climb them. Water along the dock is somewhat green with the seaweed growing and algae. But it's somewhat clear where the beach area is. Enter at your own risk but the place does get a lot of people. A nice little spot for lounging or even a nice little picnic. They do have seats scattered along the small strip where you can enjoy the view. Some picnic tables are also available. Restroom is next to the parking but it's only one stall per room. I'm not sure how long you would want to spend here but if you have family's and kids, a good amount frolicking the water and boulder might be good.
