I don't know why this place doesn't have 5 stars! I am a self proclaimed honorary pizza connoisseur (if you can't tell by my profile pic LOL) I started coming to ShopRite in Plainview and had eye-balled this place but until today walked right passed it. I was super hungry so when I went to return my shopping cart (cause I'm a decent human being like that) I stopped by to get a slice, Damn Phil can cook! The gentleman (Phil???) was super nice, he insisted I take a box and forks, but I was on the run, I assured him the slice wouldn't leave the parking lot intact and that I was a pro at eating pizza, I had a Margarita slice and in was delicious! The crust, the cheese, the sauce was the best! Came to eat lunch and try the pizza here. There is a large selection of pizza and the staff is friendly enough. We ordered a vodka slice a Sicilian slice and 3 broccoli chips. I returned the vodka slice because it did not taste like a vodka slice. It was saucy, looked like marinara, and had no flavor. We ordered in its place a white slice. So, this place is way too expensive on their slices. That would be ok if the pizza was good. It isn't. It's absolutely terrible. Every slice had no flavor and tasted bland and boring. So disappointing. AND....the tables were dirty. Every one of them. Shouldn't happen at noon- especially when we were 1 of 2 patrons. And....in the soda cabinet there was no small diet sodas. Was getting a bit hungry, so stopped by for a cheese pizza slice to-go. The staff was extremely friendly and welcomed me with open arms. The ambiance was okay - there were a couple of other people there as well. The cheese pizza was alright, not the best. Wish that they packed me some red pepper flakes or grated cheese as toppings. I was hoping that the pizza would be a bit crunchy, but probably just my preference considering I've been to a lot of pizza shops. Overall, it was okay...will probably go to my usual place. I hate to do this because the people there were incredibly nice and polite but I ordered a few slices of pizza (margherita and square pepperoni). This was by far the worst food I've ever had in my life(I'm 35 by the way). The cheese tasted like plastic, the sauce was overly sweet and had maybe bell peppers or something in it, the dough was not cooked through(like goo just under the sauce), and generally just tasted bad. Again, the people are great and perhaps the other food could be good but if you want some pizza this might not be where you should go. read more

I've been here before to grab two slices to go; but today was a great experience. My boyfriend and I went in to order a large pie and 6 knots to go. The customer service was so refreshing! A lot of pizza places we have tried out have been rude to us or at least one of us and the food couldn't make up for that. The man that helped us (idk if he was the owner or manager) was so courteous and welcoming and i couldn't complain about that at all. I'm a regular at this pizza parlor. I love the service. The owner takes the time to know his customers. I really like the Bacon chicken ranch pizza which was recommended him one day. It's pretty good 5 stars and they make the flavor consistently, that pizza always tastes the same great! The bacon is always crispy and the chicken is breaded and fried. The ranch might be a house made I'll ask next time. Parking can be a nuisance since it's in the Shop Rite parking lot, but if you wait you'll get a spot in less that 10 minutes. We moved away from Plainview nearly 3 years ago but still have ties to the area. I've stopped in to Phil's a few times for slices while we lived here but never reviewed. Last night we decided to go in after food shopping and we were so glad we did. My husband and I both got the pasta special-mine $10 and his $15 because he ordered chicken Marsala. For $10 and $15 we ate like royalty. A small salad, drink and the pasta was more than enough to fill us up. I can't remember the last time we got such a deal anywhere, never mind in way overpriced Plainview! The place is clean, comfortable and the service was good. After the delicious pasta and chicken, we spoiled ourselves with desserts and the check came to less than $40 including everything. We really couldn't believe it. The pasta special is dine-in only and served weekdays. If you're ever in the area and like to save a few bucks, give Phil's a shot. You won't be disappointed! read more

Now don't get me wrong, "Phil & Sons Pizzeria & Restaurant" is good, however, I'm not making a strong effort to return. I was picking up my little brother and he was hungry. He wanted to stop at this place he heard of and I was on board. So we ended up driving to the restaurant. Parking is fine, the lot is shared with other stores. The place looks modern and pretty organized. I loved the glass display counters the pizza was behind. Heading over to the counter, the gentleman in the back was nice enough. He mentioned the ten dollar minimum, which is very frustrating when you only carry cards. So I purchased my brothers meal and we sat to eat. I have to say the pizza was okay. It's hard to explain but the bottom had crunch, but the middle was soft. It was good. It just bothered me a lot when I wanted blue cheese for my buffalo slice and they told me it was one dollar and twenty-five cents. Plus they would charge seventy-five cents for using my card! This container of blue cheese wasn't worth two dollars. Needless to say I went without. It was disappointing. Wow,Yeah it's near Christmas and everybody is busy. BUT!!! Even more so that is NO excuse. I came in around 11:15 AM I ordered 4 pieces of Pizza, and told him to take his time as I was running to the nearby Shoprite to pick up bread. I came back paid for it took the box and left. I get home, open the box to find, the pizza is totally burnt. I called up to tell them and I get a guy who says Brandon is the one who took my order and he asked him and Brandon says it wasn't burnt. I am told come back and we will make you a new one. I explain that I have a dinner party tonight and have no time to come back. He never gave me his name and when I had asked for a manager I was informed that one would be coming in on Monday. The man hangs up on me after saying that he has no time for this and he has to work. This has been our go to pizza for years. Great grandma pie and recently loving the vodka pie. They also offer very reliable delivery.

I highly recommend stopping by for their delicious meal on a pizza slice (we had broccoli with chicken slice & spinach, broccoli and eggplant slice) and yummy large bowel of hot chicken noodle soup packed with meat, carrots, celery and noodles. There is nothing better than walking into a place and feeling something good when you're there. I've went to this place three times having lived down the block for 5 years and never once had a decent experience. Today I was 60 cents short (left my wallet in the car and was with my son and it's freezing out) and this miserable slob actually takes what I wanted out of the oven and tells me what I can afford to eat. Mind you this is at 7:15pm when everything is getting close to garbage time- although after reading some reviews apparently they need something to feed to the cockroaches. I'm ok with that, run your business the way you want -- but then he hands me a buffalo slice and doesn't offer me a cup of water knowing I can't buy a drink. Then I look around the place is horribly dirty beyond belief. They must be polishing pennies instead of cleaning. The tiles are all falling apart at the bottom, the grout is nearly black and they were even doing mechanical work to a broken appliance right where all of the food was. You'd think they'd wait until the place closed, nope-- grease dirt and god knows what else we're all over the place while the guys were taking things apart five feet from the food. Been to Phils several times in past and always liked it. The staff is great and always friendly. Most of the time you can see the owner behind the counter. Solid pizza place! Someone bought a margherita pizza and an eggplant parm pizza from here to our office. I wasn't expecting much because for all the time I worked around this area, I've never seen it recommended. But the pizza was good, although the dough was a lacking a little in flavor and texture! The margherita was interesting... the mozzarella slices were small in size. But the sauce is a bit mild and on the sweeter side so it ended up working well together. The eggplant parm was surprisingly good, the crispy breading on the eggplant worked well with the ricotta cheese chunks plopped down on the slices. Didn't really get to try the garlic knots but my coworkers said they were fine. I would be interested in visiting and trying a pasta or an entree from here. read more

Easily my favorite pizza place in the area. I'm shocked at some of the negative reviews, although in fairness, the bulk I've read are not about the food, but rather, a charge for sauce. I dunno. The food is excellent and the staff is great. The spicy chicken is so much better than all the other crap around here; problem is the nomenclature. They have both spicy chicken and buffalo pizza; the latter is sweet, the former is delicious...and not drenched in gallons of dressing like everyone else around here.
