I went to Phenomenal Seafood because I've seen it in my neighborhood and I was intrigued. I was craving pasta so I ordered their shrimp and lobster Alfredo at $37, much to my chagrin. It took the food awhile to be prepared in an empty restaurant, but I will sacrifice waiting if the food is excellent. I received my dish and quickly got home to eat it in 2 minutes. When I arrived home and sat at the table to eat, I opened my dish to find that it had ZERO shrimp in the entire order. Only protein that was in the dish was a lobster tail that wasn't fresh AT ALL sitting on top of the pasta. Also, speaking of the pasta, there was so much store-bought Alfredo sauce in the pasta that consistency of it all was like mush. WHAT A WASTE OF 37 DOLLARS!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND!! read more

OMG!!! This restaurant is awesome. They open at 4 p.m. and we got there after 5 p.m. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. For our appetizers, 2 Piece Catfish Combo, we had fried gator tails and fried oysters with a spicy poboy sauce and cocktail sauce. For our entrees, we both had 2 huge pieces each of fried catfish. We went on a Wednesday around 7. Parking was good. Our host/waiter was good. I ordered a tequila sunrise. It was good, but it came in a plastic cup. We also got a hookah and it was good also. I got the red snapper. The flavor and breading was great, but it was a little tough because the skin was left on, but at least I knew it was really snapper. The broccoli and the mashed potatoes were also good. My friend ordered the catfish. It was delicious. My only complaint other than the snapper being tough, is that is was really loud in there for that early on a Wednesday. It's was like a Midtown/College park vibe in Austell. I don't know about that, but that just me personally. I've lived in the area for a long time and I've seen a lot of good restaurants come and go in that spot plus there's a spot a couple of doors down that seems like a similar type thing. Long review I was excited to support this establishment once I learned it was Black-owned, especially given the other seafood restaurant options within a mile. The food itself was delicious--clearly prepared with care and love by whoever is in the kitchen. However, my overall experience left me feeling disappointed due to pricing, service, and unexpected charges. The Food The flavors were great! I ordered the Rockefeller oysters and shrimp and grits, and they were both well-prepared and tasty. However, the portion sizes did not justify the steep prices. For example, the shrimp and grits (small size) cost $19 before tax and included just six medium-sized shrimp. It's priced as if this were a five-star upscale restaurant. Similarly, the alcoholic beverages were served in 6 oz glasses for $12--more like what you'd expect at a nightclub than a casual dining spot. Also, you couldn't just get a glass of water without having to pay for a 16oz bottle. I drink alot of water especially when I am eating heavily salted/seasond food. I needed to purchase two bottles of water (which were also over priced). Every restaurant I've ever been to offer their customers free water with their meal!!! Unexpected Charges When we received our check, I noticed nearly $40 in additional charges: 1)Automatic 20% tip: While I usually tip at least 20%, our waitress's service only warranted 8-10% (more on that later). The automatic gratuity came to $17+. 2)Band fee: A $10 charge was added for the live band that started playing while we were finishing our meal. This fee was not communicated to us by our waitress--it's apparently mentioned on a sign outside, but we didn't see it when we arrived because it was dark. We only noticed it on our way out as it stood 3ft high. 3)Card usage fee: A 4% surcharge was applied to the entire bill just for using a card. In 2025, when most people use cards instead of cash, this felt unnecessary and frustrating which was the last lasting experience of this establishment. 4)Sales and alcohol tax: While these are standard, they added up quickly alongside the other fees. All of this made our meal feel overpriced and left me feeling like I'd been nickel-and-dimed. The Service Our experience with the waitress was disappointing from start to finish. When we sat at the bar, she placed napkins in front of us without greeting us or offering a menu. It felt like she expected us to know exactly what we wanted as if we were regulars. There was no welcoming smile or effort to make us feel comfortable--in fact, she seemed annoyed by the lively group near the corner of the bar. When I asked for a Tito's and lemonade, she curtly replied that they didn't carry Tito's. I then asked what vodka options were available, and instead of listing them, she simply pointed at the bottles behind her. I had to squint to read them myself as I am not much of a drinker. After finally getting her attention again to place our drink orders, my friend and I asked if we could move to a nearby table so that we can catch up and mainly because we felt unwelcome by our waitress's attitude and lack of friendliness. Final Thoughts While I truly enjoyed the food (the shrimp and grits were flavorful, and the rockafella oysters were excellent), my overall experience at this restaurant left much to not be desired about. Between the high prices that don't match portion sizes, hidden fees that weren't properly communicated, and subpar service from our original waitress, I left feeling disappointed and even a bit cheated as a loyal customer in this community in which i live and pay taxes in. I want to continue supporting this establishment because it has potential, but changes need to be made. The pricing structure feels exploitative, especially with all the added fees. Until these issues are addressed, both in terms of pricing transparency and staff training. I'm hesitant to return. read more

It's so hard finding a well priced seafood restaurant. Honestly when I pulled into the parking lot and saw how empty it was I was skeptical. Please do not let that stop you from entering into this establishment. I didn't eat all day so my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I ordered fried salmon that came with two sides, two sides of fried shrimp and one piece of perch. My total was $27.25, you cannot beat the price. As soon as I entered I was greeted by this nice lady who made me want to order everything lol. Now on to the food, it was so good I had to call and let them know how impressed I was and satisfied. Everything was fried perfectly with the right amount of seasoning and soul. Honestly if I didn't have any leftovers I would be back there today. Typical Black owned metro Atlanta business with poor customer service. Tonight was my 3rd time dining at this establishment. Arrived at 8pm, drink orders taken around 8:15-8:30, drinks came out maybe 10 minutes after placing our order, food order placed BEFORE 8:45pm, my food and 3 other orders came out AFTER 10pm. I let the "Manager" know I was on my way out and she can keep the food and she proceeded to say she couldn't remove any food from the check. Lucky for the "Manager" and the entire establishment, a lady in our party decided to take the chicken Alfredo I ordered as a to go meal because i definitely wasn't paying for it on my way out over an hour after I ordered it. That Manager was going to have to call Cobb County and the Austell PD out to do nothing because I wasn't paying for a meal I didn't eat. This was my second visit to this establishment 3 months apart and they still couldn't figure out how to place and present orders in a timely fashion. The first visit in June it took 15-20 minutes to place and receive drink orders then another 30 minutes or so to place food orders then another 25 minutes to receive the food! Then checking out at the podium at the door took another 8-10 minutes per person because they couldn't figure out who ordered what. The crazy part is the lady that served us in June somehow became the manager by the end of September and still couldn't get food out in less than 30 minutes or cash out the correct orders. I ordered 2 drinks and she rang me up for 1 so I had to help her to ring up both drinks do I could pay and go! The second time I went was for a line dancing class and I just ordered a drink from the bar, but it took a little while for the guy working the bar to present to the bar, take an order and make the drink. She treated us as if we been there before and gave her a hard time or something very bad attitude and a hookah tip in her bra and spoke to us as if we interrupted her hookah session. I told it was our first time there she told us about no specials. We waited in the car and came back inside she said "I didn't say the food was ready" we told her that we didn't ask her anything. We grabbed a late dinner here to-go. Nothing was disappointing! I got the shrimp basket with fried okra and broccoli; my man got the flounder with coleslaw and Cajun fries and our daughter got the chicken tenders. Everything was flavorful and cooked to PERFECTION. Most places you'd expect things to be leftover and cold, not here; everything was freshly made. Went with my hubby and a good friend who recommended it a few weeks ago. The food was okay. It wasn't terrible but I didn't leave thinking "oh I've gotta come back for ...." The drinks were the same. But again I try to support local business. However I cannot give them my money again. The main reason - they do not offer tap water. The only water they offer is bottled. And the brand on the menu was not what was served. They also don't allow you to bring your own water. This kinda business practice makes this a no for me. I already know when you slap "seafood" on a restaurant or that prices will be much higher... for anything on the menu. I'm okay with that. You have a right to price things however you want. It's your business. BUT to serve alcohol and NOT offer tap water.... Is frankly reckless and the total opposite of customer service. I could understand if they offer tap water only service if you order something. I would love it but I could respect it. A good friend and I stopped in one afternoon for an early dinner with hope that we'd like the place because we live nearby. The staff was very friendly and professional. I ordered the snapper and she ordered salmon. The food was delicious, start to finish and the service was excellent. During the meal we'd decided to make it a weekly ritual to eat there. I've always been a great tipper after a great dining experience so I'd told my friend it would be 50-60% that day. Then the bill came... The owner had built a 20% tip INTO OUR TOTAL BILLS. Not a recommendation or suggestion, but built into the total. Normally I would've asked to speak with the manager to correct this, but I didn't want the servers to take offense after doing a great job. We placed an order and only half of the order came out (order was not put in correctly by waitress) we waited 30min before we canceled the order due to another engagement we had to attend. Let me be clear - I think the food here is great. But I think the customer service is poor & inconsistent. Initially, the price listed on the menu was your price - point blank. After a few weeks, all of sudden there was a $3 call in fee. I asked about it - was told that - because some folks order food, then don't show up - they added a fee. Um - ok - but basically - based on this logic - you are penalizing your responsible patrons by charging the a fee - whereas the person who did NOT show up - isn't paying you anything. Why not just collect payment method over the phone if you're worried about folks showing up? Later - I was told that the fee is a 'convenience fee' - and if I place my order in person, then there's no fee. See photos. Last time I was in there, with J, we ordered in person and they still added a call in fee. We didn't say anything - we just didn't add a tip. Tonight - when I realized my order was a little over a $12 and asked about it, I was told that they have started adding an automatic gratuity. At this point - I told her to just cancel my order. Before anybody private messages - lol - I am not some weird cheapskate. Two dollars - or even three dollars is 100% not going to break me. I earn a pretty good living wage and can be an generous tipper (especially having worked as a server, a hostess & a housekeeper). And I believe in rewarding excellent customer service with tips. I also think - that even though you're truly not 'being served' when you order takeout - a small tip should be given - even on takeout orders because you're paying for the cost of the to go containers, bags, etc. (Some folks argue that that logic doesn't wash because if that's the case - that means if you dine in, and ask for a to go container, you should double tip.) But I REALLY don't like to forced to tip or charged a fee that doesn't make sense. Tonight - when I decided to cancel my order, the 'overworked cashier' went to get the manager on duty. In keeping with this extraordinary customer service, the manager or duty (the owner's daughter) told me I couldn't cancel my order because even though I hadn't signed the screen yet, they'd run my card - which meant it would have to be a refund and they 'don't do refunds.' I asked how my transaction could be complete when the screen was still prompting for a signature before they turned the touch screen away. She pivoted the screen back around to show me that it was not asking for a signature, then argued with me that it never asks for a signatu. Sidenote: she's actually quite argumentative & will NEVER admit that she's made a mistake. I had to argue with her LAST week - after telling her, very nicely, that her Father was up front a few weeks ago & he took my order & educated me on how the employees could & should ring me up for fish & a side salad. She kept saying 'there ain't no way to do that.' Lunch rush was over and her Dad had told me if anyone gave me any problems going forward, just ask for him, so I asked if her Dad was in the back. At this point, she VERY reluctantly clicked on the screen and saw that what I'd told her WAS correct. While FINALLY entering my order, she says, "He must've just updated this yesterday because it wasn't like this before." I told her that I had ordered it this exact same way, three times, in last 2 weeks. She replies, "You couldn't have - because it wasn't like that yesterday." Sigh. But back to last night - Because the customer is never right with her, I didn't bother to argue with the owner's daughter any further. I ALSO did not tell her that it's illegal to try to enforce a no refund policy unless it is posted at the register or the patrons are told beforehand. Keep in mind, my order hadn't even been completed or even sent to the kitchen yet. I told her I would just dispute it with my bank. I've seen manager's responses to poor reviews at their sister location & in many cases, they ask why the customer didn't contact them before 'going on the internet.' I didn't bother to ask for the owner because the young lady who took my order had already told me that they were short staffed and did not expect to be so busy tonight. This was her response when I asked how long it would take for a 2 piece fish dinner - as I needed to make it back home in time to log in for work. And I only had to ask about the time because while she acknowledged my presence after she processed the order for the cop in front of me - she immediately asked me to give her a moment. At which point, she left me standing at the door while she strolled over the the table of the elderly white couple who had finished dining, presented them with their check, then collected their payment, then walked to the bar to get the portable credit card machine, ran their card, then bussed their table. I didn't contact the owner AFTER because, frankly, I feel that most parents are not going to be open to hearing any type of criticism about their children. read more

Ms Mia is a GEM! She was closing early to enjoy herself for Mothers Day I suppose, but accommodated our party of 4 with 3 different deliciously prepared meals!! The Cajun salmon was seasoned just right! The GUMBO was the right kind of spicy! The cocktails didn't miss.... Henny Margarita wasn't too strong or too "juicy".
