I can't believe it took me so long to eat at Delilah's! I've known of this highly lauded business…read morefor years but never found the right day when I was craving soul food and in the area to order. Until recently. I decided to have a tapas-style dinner with food from The Works and just had to grab some chicken from Delilah's. The menu is plentiful without being overwhelming, except when it comes to picking a favorite between the flavorful options. I knew that I didn't want or need a full meal and opted for their 3 whole wing option that came paired with cornbread. The young man who took my order was so polite and patient, as there were a few folks in line and waiting for previously placed orders. He let me know that my order would be ready in about 15 minutes so I took the time to continue my food-finding journey around the market. When I returned later, I had lost track of time and figured I'd just poke my head around their stall to see if my chicken was ready. It wasn't at that moment but I took some time to observe the process. There was only one guy in the open kitchen and prep area creating all of the meals and he was on the move. If I could add smells to my review, this one would smell like fried chicken and cornbread. It was all so fresh! When my order was ready, I only made one other stop before heading to my car to go home to my family... but not before I tested those whole wings from Delilah's. When I say that they were fresh out of the grease? Babehhh. It's like he just threw them right into the basket only seconds before. It was sooo crunchy, so juicy, just a fantastic wing. The hot sauce was a nice pairing but some spice in the breading/meat would have taken it over the top but this chicken was delicious. No notes.

It made us stop and ask, "what is this place and this absolutely delicious-looking sandwich?!" The rest is history. We ordered yummy fried chicken pieces and a bbq chicken sandwich. It cured our souls. We asked the generous, wonderful lady at the counter about the story of Delilah's: was she a real person, who is she, etc. her answers made us fall in love even more... this is a genuine, family-owned and operated enterprise! We love, love, loved our food and I can't wait to go back and soport again!!! You gotta try it.

This review is solely based on the food, as I've never actually stepped foot inside the restaurant…read more First good point: they were open on Easter! We had a long day and just wanted to eat at home, so we decided to place a takeout order. After browsing the website, we settled on the Salisbury steak meal, a veggie plate, lemon pepper wings with fries, a chicken tender meal, and a slice of strawberry cake. Second good point: the website was user-friendly. However, when I tried to place the order, the payment wouldn't go through. My husband called the restaurant, and we were told they were having some technical difficulties with their system--but we could place the order over the phone instead. Third good point: the person we spoke to was friendly and helpful. The food was hot and fresh when my husband brought it home. Overall, everything was good--there were a few minor issues, but nothing that was a deal breaker: The mac and cheese was a bit dry, and the cheese wasn't fully melted. The collard greens were a little too salty, and the chicken tenders were pretty bland. The icing on the strawberry cake was also a bit too sweet for my taste--but that might just be personal preference. Other than that, everything was delicious. I'm looking forward to actually going inside next time, whether to dine in or get takeout.

RC had approached her with a flier at a gas station, informing her that his restaurant had just opened up. Anyway, I'm ordering my meal, the same meal I always get each time I go. Fried fish (whiting), collards and the baked beans (unmatched). And he goes, "What would you like to drink?".... I'm like, "What do you have?" (Assuming the usual. Sweet tea. Lemonade... I was probably gonna go with sweet tea. ) He lists sweet tea of course, and then hes like, "Kool-Aid, coke, sprite" - IM LIKE WAIT. DID YOU SAID KOOL-AID?......... He's like, "Yeah??..." Im like, "what flavor???.... "Purple?...." I had never heard of that at a restaurant, and quiet frankly, that's all I needed to know. At this point, I literally go nowhere else for soul food. Also, RC is amazing. Really good guy, and his team offer the best service as well. A job well done, always.
